Ugh @Peridot1 that's so rubbish. It's infuriating when the project manager won't project manage and you end up doing it yourself.

I would put your foot firmly down right away with DS. It's your home, the noise level is what it is, if he wants to work in it on this basis that's up to him but otherwise he can go to the library.

Aria999 · 15/10/2024 14:02

That sounds positive @petalpower . I hope he ends up in a continuing good state.

Happy belated thanksgiving @Mumtobabyhavoc

Today DD has her annual doctors checkup in an hour and is supposed to be getting her flu and covid vaccines but she has developed a sniffle, so they may not want to do it.

I should be looking for work but there's always so much else to do ☹️. I guess I will feel better about it if / when I get something.

Otherwise I must

  • go to the supermarket (managed to run out of sugar and running low on milk, too much baking at the weekend) ,
clean the kitchen,
  • deploy the robot minions (they don't get used over the weekend as they are a secret from the kids and DD was off school yesterday)
  • Tidy and dust the games room (noticed a massive dusty cobweb in there recently 😳)
  • Send back a ton of clothes I ordered for DS that are much too big for him, and a few other things
  • Fold and put away 3 baskets of clean laundry
RunningKatie · 15/10/2024 17:22

Evening all - the cold germs felled me and i lost you all.
Hope everyone is ok, I see @Mumtobabyhavoc is still on a one woman mission of awesomeness achievements.
Hope your dad is improving @petalpower
I'm also loving the robot minions, once we've finished the house changes then I'm planning on getting a cleaner again, the current cobwebs are on trend but not all year round.
Today I've done a few online payments, need to go and book dc2's party and also order some penguin pyjamas for their birthday. Super helpful them liking a cold weather animal around Christmas, means I can usually get penguin themed gifts.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/10/2024 17:37

Aria, "robot minions" and hiding them from your dc has made me laugh. ☺️
Peridot, ugh. How frustrating. I had a nightmare with contractors last year. Hate them.
Froggie, coffee stains are the worst! I have a very froo-froo girly white furry bench than got coffee on it. 🤬
Petal, how was your dad today?

Thanks everyone for the holiday wishes. 🩷
Dinner was so good! Roasted a duck (stuffed with orange, ginger, garlic, onion; rubbed with Chinese 5 spice, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt), roasted potatoes and butternut squash, boiled corn on the cob and garlic bread.
Dessert was banana pecan coffee cake (essentially a banana bread baked in a ring with a crumb top), pumpkin pie and Nanaimo bars. Also, strawberries with Chantilly cream and two different vegan vanilla ice creams (unsure which would be better, so got both).
Managed to vacuum, clean the bathroom and tidy dc's toys, but that was all.
Have now got a load of towels in the wash. Still need to change the beds. 🫣

Sorry you're sick, Katie. 💐
Thanks for the kind words. 🌸

Grin I feel like the kids would mess with them and they would get broken.

Managed to do almost everything on the list except the returns which will have to be tomorrow.

Today I have a meeting with the school in my capacity as parent organization treasurer then DS has therapy, not sure where the morning went exactly. I have been creating a dummy data set in Google sheets with the plan of creating some showcase models to add to my portfolio but haven't got very far.

WinterFrog · 17/10/2024 07:28

Morning! Thanksgiving feast sounds delicious @Mumtobabyhavoc!

Hope you're feeling better @RunningKatie Penguin pyjamas sound cute!

@Aria999 I too had a frantic day yesterday, which went by very fast! My shoulders ache this morning because I think I've been quite tense. Hope your meeting went well.

My project job today is to call an electrician as we have some light switches that need replacing. And i must write a list because things are feeling chaotic, and I thought I'd got past all that.

@Peridot1 💐 It's a lot having adult offspring working from home. Plus all the other stuff going on. I had DS and DIL here for a bit last year, wfh so i get you!

Thinking of you @petalpower as always, and hoping all is well with our @FourSeasonsLobelia and the new job!

👋 to anyone I've missed 💕

Peridot1 · 17/10/2024 09:03

Hi all

@Mumtobabyhavoc your Thanksgiving dinner sounds delicious! I’m not a big duck fan but I think I would really like that.

@Aria999 - your poor hidden robot minions! I hope they get cuddles and appreciation before they get locked away! 😂

I will be having words with DS about his expectations while working from home. Our house is a bit of a nightmare for noise travelling so that doesn’t help. As it’s all so new he is understandably finding his feet and a bit nervous so I get it. A bit!

I haven’t achieved much this week. Builder came on Tuesday and installed the stone for the hearth in the fireplace and the skirting. Everything else is now on hold until Monday when the carpet will be fitted and then the painters will start. Fingers crossed.

I also had a tooth out yesterday so spent the day feeling a bit sorry for myself. Am on a liquid diet for a couple of days. And not the fun kind! And then soft foods for a few days afterwards.

Am going to get my hair cut this morning and for a potter around the shops.

Have a good day all.

SpiritOfEdna · 17/10/2024 12:18

Morning - we are all busy bees. Busy day here.
Today

  • the new hob is being installed today, so am keeping an eye for a parking space for the installers 😃
  • huge backlog of work emails to catch up on, reports to generate etc. 😬
  • I've managed to book myself on a RefPilates class tonight, when I did one last night and had a gym session this morning. I am going to ache tomorrow
  • SpiritDoggo still has fleas! I can only see the one and her fur is like cotton and is white/gingery in colour so am fairly confident she is not riddled. So she had a bath last night and we are spraying and cleaning all the floors etc. She can't have another dose of flea stuff yet - I did not know they could overdose on it
  • Desk needs a tidy
  • More sanding. I might need to shift the location of where I am sanding - NDN is not very well and I think I am sanding in the room next to their bedroom.
  • Shred more paperwork
That will be it for now, off to attack the backlog of emails, have a good day, SoE
Aria999 · 18/10/2024 00:51

Wow @SpiritOfEdna epic task list as always!

The robots both live inconspicuously under furniture @Peridot1 and trundle out when summoned. They are kinda cute!

Hope you found a good electrician @WinterFrog !

lol @Mumtobabyhavoc 'Managed to vacuum, clean the bathroom and tidy dc's toys, but that was all' you could bottle and sell your efficient productivity, that would be a pretty good day for me and my kids are at school 🤣

Today I spent the morning wrestling with problems concerning the school parent organization's legal and tax status (complex/ lost in mists of time) and the afternoon doing a small amount of paid work for a new client. I hope he likes it as I feel like he has more I could help with!

RunningKatie · 18/10/2024 21:11

Evening! I've just finished labelling a school jumper, realised 2 was optimistic, so purchased a 3rd. Now I know dc2 has a clean jumper for next week, so already feels like a win.
Also loaded the washing machine ready to go on, and have stripped and re-made both dc's beds. Tomorrow I'll tackle ours, we also need to strip the wallpaper in the living room before the plasterer comes.
I need to ring the bank who have blocked my card, without warning, super helpful just before half term and all that. I did about 4 transactions doing "family admin" and they decided I must have been hacked. Very diligent of them!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/10/2024 21:51

Sounds like you're on a roll, Katie! Frustrating* re card, *though.

OP posts:
Aria999 · 18/10/2024 22:02

Oh no @RunningKatie that's very unhelpful of the bank! Hope you get it sorted!

I had a fairly productive day:

  • returned the returns (3 different locations 🤦‍♀️ and no parking anywhere so after illegally squeezing onto a corner for the first one I ended up taking car home and walking back for the others)
  • posted a check to our gardener
  • received a large tax rebate check and took it to the bank
  • picked up DS, who wasn't feeling well at school
  • made an enormous vat of soup (it's a bit thin unfortunately so boiling it off a bit before I go to get Dd )
  • booked all the accommodation for our 2 week Arizona road trip in March
  • put on two loads of laundry
WinterFrog · 19/10/2024 07:56

Morning all. Bah to over zealous banks @RunningKatie!
@Aria999 Arizona looks fascinating. Ive never felt the urge to go ( heat/hours on a plane) but have read quite a lot about it. Have you a particular destination in mind?

I'm knackered! Been a really busy couple of weeks full of people and admin, plus a spot of outdoor work.

Today, a good hoover round I think, off to pick up clean clothes for mum who is in hospital, and some heavy duty resting this afternoon as I the house to myself.

Happy Saturday everybody 💕

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/10/2024 09:16

Hope your mum is ok Froggie. 🩷

Just up with toddler here. Fever of almost 40c. Waiting for Tylenol and Advil to kick in. Rainy night.

OP posts:
Aria999 · 19/10/2024 12:12

@WinterFrog we are flying into phoenix then going Sedona, flagstaff, Grand Canyon village, and back to phoenix. So the northern half basically.

Hoping it will be an interesting mix of scenery, Native American history and Wild West history.

Aria999 · 19/10/2024 12:13

Oh no @Mumtobabyhavoc hope that fever goes down!

Aria999 · 19/10/2024 12:14

(We are going in early March so it should not be very hot which is bad for outdoor pools but good for hiking)

Peridot1 · 19/10/2024 12:21

@Mumtobabyhavoc hope toddler is ok and you get some sleep.

@Aria999 - sounds like a great trip. We went to the Grand Canyon about ten years ago. Amazing. Would love to explore more of the area.

Aria999 · 19/10/2024 12:47

What's your mum in hospital for @WinterFrog ? Hope she's alright!

WinterFrog · 19/10/2024 13:33

She had a stroke @Aria999 😔
I just Googled the places you're going. Looks amazing!
Hope LO feels better soon @Mumtobabyhavoc

Aria999 · 19/10/2024 13:38

😢 @WinterFrog I hope she recovers

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/10/2024 15:08

Oh, no Frog! That's alarming. How are you and mum managing?

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 19/10/2024 15:29

Sorry to hear about your mum @WinterFrog.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 19/10/2024 16:56

Hope you are okay @WinterFrog and your mum too. 🌹🌸🌹❤️
