Oasis tickets

So I didn't make the ballot so missed out on the pre sale and I'm angered that viagogo have purchased a load of pre sale tickets and are selling them for 600 quid each! It's a dream to see oasis in Manchester (my home town) and its looking very unlikely unless some miracle happens in the queue for general sale tomorrow... just ranting but please keep your fingers crossed for me

We got x 4 Wembley tickets got into waitlist about 8.15am and was 4,500 in queue. Got in and got seated tickets £115 plus fees each at about 9.50am.

When tickets allocated got temporarily booted out because they thought I was a bot as was trying on another device too so closed that down, refreshed original one and it accepted.

Not even able to get onto ticketmaster, still in the queue to join the site and I’ve been in the queue for 2 hours - just don’t understand how people that have been in the queue to join the site have got in there quicker!
Congrats to anyone who got tickets, would have loved to have taken dd2 (dh saw them years ago and isn’t fussed this time and dd1 isn’t a fan) but I’ll never pay the inflated resale viagogo prices even though I could afford to, it’s just disgusting.

Just leave it till a few days before the event. You'll get them through twickets for face value. I got Stevie Nicks tickets this way, in fact I made a low offer and got them discounted. Same for the Killers. Got them for £60 rather than £90.

I know, but I feel like they’re gaslighting us 😂

No this is the message you'd get if that were the case!

Seriously though, DO NOT believe the rumours. It happens every time. And the official sources are the only ones which are trustworthy.

It's bread and circuses for the well-off middle and upper classes. At least the chariot races and gladiator fighting in Rome were free🙁.

It is if so many people insist on wanting to see one particular band, rather than the hundreds of other bands or artists who are playing live at any particular time. I'm just glad I have no skin in this game. I've been to see my favourite band five times (six if I include a festival set) in the last two years, plus the singer's solo gigs ten times. Never paid any more than £35 for the band's gigs and £24 for the solo ones. But anyway, congrats to anyone here who got O tickets, and commiserations to those who weren't so lucky.

Honestly what is the point in posting this? If you've no skin in the game, why are you even on this thread?

Thestrawthatbrokeme · 31/08/2024 10:42

Got to the top for Dublin 16th August and no tickets left to buy.

Oasis are some people's favourite band though. I'm sure they're well aware they can get cheaper tickets easily for other bands, but like you they want to see their favourite band.

RedToothBrush · 31/08/2024 10:43

The trouble is that if they made tickets cheaper then resellers would cash in on that anyway.

Springsteen recently got criticised for it and commented that he'd rather the extra money went to his band and tour crew than touts.

And besides that, it's very difficult to make money from the actual songs now with the likes of Spotify. For years the only way you could make money was through touring. And now it's becoming hard, even for the big names to turn a profit from touring.

This is why we are seeing lots of multi band large venue gigs rather than smaller tours. Smaller tours HAVE to be completely sold out. And they make the money off merch not ticket sales.

The whole industry is effectively collapsing. It's bloody awful. I know a number of people who work in it.

Ah nooooooo. Not even the ridiculously priced ones? I’m in the queue for the Sunday

MummyInTheNecropolis · 31/08/2024 10:48

My friend just got 4 seated tickets for Wembley so it’s worth hanging in there!

Onafitnesskick · 31/08/2024 10:49

Is anyone in the queue for Wembley? Are there any left?!

Onafitnesskick · 31/08/2024 10:50

Oh cross post! I’m number 98000. Is this position just for the date I selected? If so i should give up right!

Demand for Sat Dublin will be higher - lots of people will fly over from UK for it and make a weekend of it. Drinking. Sunday is less favourable. Hang in there and hope.

Hang in there even after it’s saying sold….I have got Glastonbury tickets once before after the all sold comes up ( assuming peoples payments declined then the tickets were released back)

Yes Sunday is the better option….just take Monday off work😊

Yep. And actually check again in a few hours too, for similar reasons. There are always returns.

NEVER give up…….til at least 20 mins after the ‘all sold’ sign comes up ……there is always hope

Swisscave · 31/08/2024 10:53

Got two tickets for sat at Edinburgh- one of the package deals though

But you got tickets…..so well done 👏😊

CautiousLurker · 31/08/2024 10:54

@RedToothBrush what upsets me is that the profiteering means that the tickets to gigs (and the arts in general) are becoming less and less accessible to ‘ordinary’ people and, when we consider the future of these industries, young people - so the arts additionally become the preserve of the wealthy and over fifties. We spent nearly a grand taking our teens to see Hamilton recently, having waited years and made it an end of exam treat to justify it.

And, like you say, it squeezes the profit margins meaning the salaries of the support staff at venues and in the tech team are constantly eroded… again meaning young people/new talent will will be put off going into the industry.

FMSucks · 31/08/2024 10:56

@Kitkat1523 and @RedToothBrush I live in Dublin and that’s precisely why I went for the Sunday! My strategy worked for Coldplay (just saw them on Thursday!) There’s been no update to say tickets are gone!

CellophaneFlower · 31/08/2024 10:56

My neighbour just got 4 standing at Wembley.

greengreyblue · 31/08/2024 10:56

Bit miffed as site said 9 am open and no option to join a wait list came up. Now I’m hearing people were queueing before 9! I’ve no chance.
