It's heartbreaking.

DontBiteTheCat · 30/07/2024 12:28

Those dead confirmed as aged 6, 7 and 9.

Sometimes there are just no words for how truly fucking horrific something is. Those poor children and their families.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 30/07/2024 12:28

The poor families, they’ll never be the same again.

systemicmotivations · 30/07/2024 12:29

Genuinely heartbreaking 💔 @Emmacc24 what is it you want us to do? I don't mean that flippantly, I am in agreeement with you that enough is enough.

This is an odd post.
It is horrendous news, absolutely heartbreaking for those involved, however, it is also extremely rare.
I can only think of two incidents in my life where something similar has happened. Dunblane and an incident in a midlands nursery before that.

I know what you mean - what can be done ? Sometimes there’s just something so wrong in someone’s mind you can’t anticipate and plan for such atrocities. The fact as well that even if they’d had high security doors etc the point at which they would be opened at pick up is a vulnerability which was in this case taken advantage of. How can ‘normal’ people anticipate things their minds don’t have the capacity to understand, some people are just evil 😔

Do we even have details as to a motive yet?

Iasonnas · 30/07/2024 12:34

Or incels. Do we know which applies here?

systemicmotivations · 30/07/2024 12:34

@AvoidantRestrictive yes, thank you, that is what I meant. That yes we would love to do more but sometimes all the precautions in the world aren't enough. It is so incredibly sad.

The murderers in Dunblane, Plymouth, Hungerford were Muslim? I'm sure that would be news to them and their victims.

ExitPursuedByABare · 30/07/2024 12:36

I just find it incomprehensible that he could do so much damage with a knife.

No we don’t.

Yet another thread that will descend into an absolute cesspit of racism and speculation and will be deleted in a few hours because people can’t just be respectful to the children who have died and those still fighting for their lives.

It has been widely reported the attacker was born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents, which is a Christian country.

The nursery machete attack was a little after dunblane.
The latter did result in 'something being done' - much more restriction on firearms. Very sensible.
Knives are, unfortunately, harder to restrict in practice despite there already being laws. I'm not sure what more realistically can be done by the authorities.

Also the attempted murder of the young boy thrown from the Tate - that was a white man - it’s not just some men, I think until there’s more information on the motive we just can’t speculate
