Conservatives Twitter feed is looking increasingly desperate this morning.

Gosh there is some intense anti-Labour frothing going on in other threads. I am surprised foam isn't pouring out of my phone.

I am staying out of it today, spent far too much time on here yesterday!

CassieSaysGoodbyeTories · 02/07/2024 11:43

It's getting desperate!

Planning snacks and an inordinate amount of alcohol, I haven't stayed up for an election since 1997 when I was a student so no gainful employment to get to the next day! DD has training Thursday evening so will be home and showered just in time for the exit poll, I don't work Fridays and would normally have to go to school but as luck would have it A levels finished a couple of weeks ago so nothing at all to do thankfully..........apart from stress about the result and then again in August!
Have delurked a couple of times on these threads, lurked on the Westminstenders for a good while as well and have to add my thanks to all of the wonderfully well-informed people who have advanced my knowledge over the years Flowers. Would love an LD opposition but no idea how accurate some of the polls are!

1979 was the last time for me. But I was a 19yo student and not only had the energy to do that but went to lectures the next day, the theatre on the Friday evening and then sat in a friend's flat putting the world to rights until 2 before walking home. Will definitely need naps, lots of caffeine and an early night Friday now.

I toyed with voting Plaid as Labour are too centrist right now.

But you are right and I will be voting Labour as it is indeed the party who will do the best for us consistently over the full length of the Parliament. There won't be three PMs in five years.

I’m toying with leaving the Labour Party and joining Plaid after the election. I’ve hung on in there because I know it’s best for the country for them to be in charge but if they get in I can afford to start agitating for what I actually want.

BIossomtoes · 02/07/2024 12:21

I haven’t gone to bed on election night since 1992 and this time insomnia is my friend. My caffeine and sugar consumption will be through the roof and alcohol will be saved for Friday night because I’m determined to stay awake. Friday morning might be a bit awkward when the resolutely Tory Mr B wakes up.

cardibach · 02/07/2024 12:28

The only good thing about the 2010 election was that it caused me to stay up late enough to witness a pipe bursting 8n the kitchen and rescue the house from flooding. Sticking my torso in a pressurised stream of cold water to turn off the stop tap under the sink proved very effective in keeping me awake a while longer. Hoping not to resort to similar tactics this year. I have a WhatsApp group of like minded friends ready to go and shall buy drinks and snacks tomorrow.

Some diplomacy will be needed in the Blossomtoes household!

My New European just arrived and the wipeout bingo is fabulous!

Notonthestairs · 02/07/2024 12:30

I have every intention of going to bed at 11.30 and getting up around 5 in time for my constituency to be announced.
It is better for everyone in my life that I get some sleep.
Saving the fizz for Friday night.

VoteOutToHelpOut · 02/07/2024 12:30

God, I hope we are not all tempting fate too much here😬

Notonthestairs · 02/07/2024 12:31

Well if its a bad result I am drinking the fizz anyway.

Escentricmolecule · 02/07/2024 12:32

I'm kicking myself for not ordering it.

It makes me laugh now too. Me in my jimmies with my head under the sink while the water lapped at the laminate flooring in the next room…pity there was nobody there to video it really.
Im also going to try to get a New European from somewhere tomorrow. I’d go today but I’m inexplicably unwell - head ache, stomach cramps, wooziness…need to get myself right for Thursday.

BIossomtoes · 02/07/2024 12:37

Hope you feel better soon.

Covid? My manager has it and is off with exactly the same symptoms.

mibbelucieachwell · 02/07/2024 13:11

Get well soon @cardibach

My (new) constituency isn't on the list either @user8800

Postal vote fiasco now being discussed on R4. I'm having nightmares of close results being contested by the labour and reform losing parties.
