Vety interesting. I hear Liz Truss is also in similar trouble in Norfolk. These are dyed in the wool blue rosette donkey areas. But no longer?

Maybe these crazy polls really are true. Even though there is a lot of pushback on these boards it does look like there are some very angry middle aged middle England voters out there. About the least revolutionary group you could usually get in more normal times.

For anyone with Twitter this 🧵 is worth a read -

Keir Starmer is likely to be Prime Minister by the end of the week. I’ve been really disappointed in this election campaign.
But.
An experience of meeting Keir always comes to mind when I sigh at our politics.

There’s another true blue up against Truss. An old school Tory who was born and bred in the constituency and used to be Lord Lieutenant of the County. He’s very likely to beat her.

How have I not seen this clip a million times today? Sunak getting ‘everything’ and ‘anything’ mixed up and admitting they haven’t got anything right.

Oh. ❤️

I seem to remember the conversion therapy ban was blocked by the Christian right within the Conservative Party (according to Conservative MPs) - they were certainly dragging their heels.

BIossomtoes · 02/07/2024 00:08

According to Electoral Calculus Truss has a 7% chance of winning her seat. Labour’s in the lead. And Badenoch has a 50% chance of retaining hers. I hope Labour’s targeting it big time.

tobee · 02/07/2024 00:54

Stop it I'm getting too excited at the prospect of Truss and even maybe Badenoch going.

Does anyone remember when Esther McVey briefly lost her seat, and when interviewed, shortly after by tv, she could not comprehend that she'd lost and said she would continue to represent the seat or something. Then stopped in horror and corrected herself. Anyone else I'd have thought "aww that's obviously been a shock! It'll take time" etc. But it was hard not to indulge in schadenfreude with McVey.

tobee · 02/07/2024 02:36

I'm trying to train myself to stay up late in preparation for Thursday. But this week I'm just so sleepy.

BIossomtoes · 01/07/2024 20:38

Strangely nothing about what they are actually going to do if they get in.

Once they’ve said “Cut taxes” they’re done.

I mentioned above all I hear from Torys is "Labour will tax more" and nothing about what they'll actually do.

Except "follow the plan". Except their plan has been to raise taxes to the highest they've been in 70 years with nothing to show for it 🤦🏼‍♀️

They really think we are stupid Angry

itsgettingweird · 02/07/2024 05:32

Electoral calculus now has my area as

24% reform
25% Labour
27% cons

Should be interested and keeps me hoping Braverman is out!

Evenstar · 01/07/2024 22:09

Badenoch going down well at her hustings, she refused to take part if it was videoed

The picture shows what appears to be a typical Tory congregation, some mistake?

Have you seen Shire WI and golf clubs when they are angry?
And they will vote.

It's Election Eve, Eve, I'm so excited!

Collecting my ballot box tomorrow, love having a look through it and then it waiting by my front door for the morning!

Here's hoping!

Grant Shapps is another whose defeat I will be pleased about, along with Michael Green losing.
