"I'm Scottish and pronounce "dour" as "doo-er" "

That's exactly how my Scottish dad pronounced it.

I wonder how much more panicky and Project Fear will appear in the press headlines for the next few days.

The Telegraph will explode on Thursday morning if today’s front page is any indication.

Thread 52 Sunak: The Final Countdown
pointythings · 30/06/2024 21:12

It's a political thread. Its contributors are politically a pretty broad church.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/06/2024 21:12

Are those options mutually exclusive?

The times. NEW: Kemi Badenoch and Suella Braverman have registered Tory leadership campaign websites

Although we are pretty united on the subject of #GTTO

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/06/2024 21:19

I could be wrong, but I don’t see any of us voting for any party headed by Nigel.

ZonderRishi · 30/06/2024 21:20

Have you seen the post by MNHQ about the latest AMA? After the stonking q&a with Sunak's junior intern they are now doing AMA with the man who wrote a book on Starmer. Presumably Starmer was busy.

I did see that and laughed. Starmer presumably doesn’t feel the need for desperately scrabbling around for any votes at all and is targeting his time.

Double hatred there. 2 x women who aren't white. Frank Hester and the haters are going to be apoplectic. Don't worry Frank, either of those two will still take your money.

@itsgettingweird well done to your ds. I don't know if you are like me, but when dd is competing in her sport, I live and breathe every move.

I'm rarely there these days so mostly watch him on you tube 😂

But yes - I usually hold my breath until he's dived in and then can often feel how well a race is going as I seem very untuned to him when he races now.

Luckily he loves it whatever happens so that makes it easy!

Afloatingvoter · 30/06/2024 21:44

I am not sure it is really necessary to hate anyone is it?

HauntedPollingBooth · 30/06/2024 21:47

I don't hate Reform voters. I do question their critical thinking ability, given that the Reform manifesto is an uncosted unaffordable wish list of fairytales.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/06/2024 21:48

Does anyone remember that ukip manifesto that had something for everyone and what sounded like quite reasonable policies (alongside the questionable ones)? Must have been 2015 GE.

What I keep coming back to since doing the vote for policies quiz is how easy it was to identify the Tory and reform policies on virtually every single issue. I couldn’t have told you which party was which on all the issues but there was a huge difference between them and lib/lab/green. I don’t recall this happening quite so starkly before.

I'd add to this that I do consider a lot of what I hear them say to be aligned with fascism.

Same. Also racism and misogyny.

Afloatingvoter · 30/06/2024 21:51

Well I suggest you find a part of the internet where that has occurred and post there instead of her.

Actually I do hate Reform voters. They have to know that the party is racist, because it has nothing else to call on. Therefore, they are racist, even if they don't admit it to themselves.

Therefore, they are worthy of being hated.

Are you a Reform supporter Weenypenis?

A quick AS does confirm that they are

I think if you represent nationalism in the way Farage does and also get caught saying you admire the way Putin leads Russia you are going to get people querying how far down the road to fascism you are going. It’s not entirely helped by the candidates that they choose, the staff that they choose and that they have taken a lot of voters from the BNP.

It also doesn’t help if you kick candidates out of your party for expressing the sort of views you might find in the BNP and then tell the public to vote for them anyway.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that all their voters are thick, racist, misogynists. But it does attract the racist voters and voters who may not feel that way themselves but are happy to support a candidate despite those views.

Champagnesocialismo · 30/06/2024 21:59

Well you have got to be committed to them to still vote after that video and the pro Putin stuff. Repellent

HannibalHeyes · 30/06/2024 22:01

Actually, I pretty much think it does. I'm fed up of pandering to the thickos and racists who voted for Brexshit, and being told that it was my fault that they voted that way.

No, they were already racist and/or thick, and the apologists who are trying to reframe it as my fault are more shills desperately trying to change the narrative.
