I came here having seen Channel 4’s film of Reform in Clacton, I was appalled and sickened by it. It’s chilling, Nigel Farage saying they are not representative of Reform is lying. They’re just not meant to say it out loud 😔

That’s the thing, isn’t it? You can’t be overtly fascist or racist. The guy that was a member of the BNP was suspended. I’m not sure if the guy who was talking about slaughtering migrants and is liked to other fascist groups, or the 41 candidates with links to the head of a fascist group have been. Presumably because you can’t deny you are the BNP if you have their ex members as candidates but there’s plausible deniability for potential reform voters of the links are to less well known groups.

I don't know. Looking at Farage's Twitter feed today and the turn out for his events I am not certain now that Reform won't win quite a few seats.

Same here & that’s without all the other stuff that’s gone on, it’s like a bloody cult why not vote Lib Dem if you can’t bring yourself to vote Labour I just can’t understand the mindset, as for even contemplating voting for Farage & his band of thugs all I can think of is “you are judged by the company you keep” it’s actually quite frightening that some think the hate they spread is acceptable & that they endorse such vile attitudes with a vote.

My take on Reform is that they are popular because they go further than the Tories. There has always been an element of the Tory Party that is racist, and in recent years that has been obscured by their multicultural cabinet.

These voters just prefer Farage. They don’t have to pretend. More importantly they want a society where there is open discussion about immigration first, then race. They think that is reasonable. They will vote for someone who is representative of their thinking.

Yes the Conservatives take money from people like Frank Hester. But watching Sunak on immigration or Kemi Badenoch make excuses for the Conservatives taking Hester’s money is not what they want. So the Conservatives have a choice after the election. I don’t think they realise just how bad it is. But it certainly explains how their vote has collapsed in the last few weeks.

@IClaudine I actually posted on it, in the hope of persuading the waverers. DH has been out canvassing again for Labour for the last two days and we both think it’s concerning (and inexplicable) how many people are still saying they’re undecided

Tell you what, it will be interesting to see if the Conservatives say anything about the Clacton stuff.

My guess is very little. After all, they want the Reform vote. And they will suck this up to get it
