I’ve recently got into Lego, what are your favourite Lego sets?

my personal favourite is the Bonsai tree. I just love the frogs!

This was my first Lego set, in 1985. The timetable had German place names on it.

I have two Lego loving children encouraged by a Lego loving husband so I had no choice but to be converted 😄

I do have a soft spot for the Up! house. And the HP flappy ones.

Is technic allowed? Because we have a very cool 90s motorbike up at the moment.

Oh I've found my people. Titanic is a superb build (expensive but very impressive) but the smaller architecture kits are lovely too! I kill anything green in my house so have vases of Lego flowers scattered about and the bonsai. I put blue clear pieces of lego in the bottom of the cases for “water”

@NameChange101113 I LOVE the terrarium idea

Needmorelego · 03/07/2024 07:45

@LegoLegoLegoLegoLego Technic is my nemesis. Even a polybag with 20 parts I go wrong with and end up chucking across the room in frustration 😂
I am in awe of those who can actually build a large technic set.

Oh I don't personally have the patience for it either, I leave it to the kids and they know to ask DH if they need help 😆

@SexSectionNameChange
Brickset is an excellent website with all the sets listed. You can see all the sets and create a list for ones you own (or want).
Bricklink is a site for secondhand Lego. It's owned by Lego but each seller is an independent person (or "store") so you are buying directly from that person rather than Lego themselves.
There a frequently Lego shows around the country that have sellers there.

So I had a little nose around, here is what I found. The first picture is the Life magazine cover of the moon landing. And the Lego recreation. And here is the Reddit thread.

@QuitChewingMyPlectrum that's a great idea (which I'm stealing) I've got lego sunflowers and all my vases are too tall. I was going to buy some of those glass beads, but this is a much better idea, so thanks Smile

IOweMySanityToBasilParsley · 03/07/2024 16:20

This was my first ever lego set which I wish I still had. I am going to buy another at some point. I still have a lamb(mary), a bear(gavin)and a mouse(monty) somewhere. Don't know if they were their real names or ones I'd given 🤣

OMG
That was my first set too.
Catherine Cat and Mortimer Mouse.
I still have it 😍
(Secondhand Fabuland is not that easy to get ....or is £££ 🙁)

Wow! Those are incredible! I love the display cases too! I have a lot of catching up to do, I think 😅

I absolutely love Lego and had the under stairs space made into a den where all my parts are stored. Favourite set is the brick bank but have also recently enjoyed making the tour bus and the chess set. DD has no interest in building Lego but regularly gives me a specification of what she would like in a house for me to build 😂

ReacherSaidNothing · 03/07/2024 20:02

I see you have Assembly Square @QuitChewingMyPlectrum , we're currently building that one here.
Anyone else have the Ghostbusters car? I'm not a fan of the vehicles but I do love that one.

QuitChewingMyPlectrum · 03/07/2024 20:12

Thanks @NameChange101113 - I save a certain amount per month for Lego and I'm lucky that my husband indulges me too - keeps me out of trouble!

That is a brilliant build. I wish they would do more of those style, its the little hidden bits I like that you can't see from the outside!

IOweMySanityToBasilParsley · 03/07/2024 22:37

See, I don't remember the cat @Needmorelego I'm wondering now if my mum got it second hand

Yirk · 04/07/2024 06:57

The tuxedo cat is a fairly new release.

Needmorelego · 04/07/2024 07:35

@Yirk she was referring to Catherine Cat in the Fabuland set not the tuxedo one.
@IOweMySanityToBasilParsley I did lose my original Catherine and had to get a replacement from Lego but she's still very old and faded now.

Twpsaesneg · 04/07/2024 07:46

Oh wow, some great builds here!

I'm generally a Harry Potter Lego fan, my office has a sign that says 'Diagon Alley' on it. But I think my favourite set has to be the Home Alone house I got for Christmas - so much detail from the film, I love it.
I have a retired dream set that I would love, I think it was called something like the crabbing shack, but I think I'd have to remortgage to get it now!!

My people!

I love the City builds and modulars - like a PP I love the humour of the minifigs and the little intricate details.

I grew up in the 90s, my fave was the Knight's castle with the glow in the dark ghost/sheet Grin.

Twpsaesneg · 05/07/2024 05:37

@ReacherSaidNothing omg!! Yes that's the one!! Brilliant set!

NameChange101113 · 13/07/2024 20:03

Just added this little Lego set to my collection ☺️
