I think he's mixing Labour up with Trump!

cardibach · 21/06/2024 12:02

Also threatening us with a good time is possibly not that effective…

DuncinToffee · 21/06/2024 12:11

From yesterday's Telepgraph (apologies if posted already, thread is moving fast)

The Tories have told candidates in “unwinnable” northern seats to shift campaigning to the south in an effort to avoid an historic defeat

Tories with majorities of up to 7,000 also told to effectively give up

An extraordinary email memo sent to Tory candidates in Labour-held seats has the subject line ‘Campaign support — Not in the north’

Urging people to campaign “closer” to the south it said: “Time is valuable and hours in a car isn’t getting votes, thanks”

Piggy & Blossom. Alcuin - the weirdos on the hill.

“Time is valuable and hours in a car isn’t getting votes, thanks”

And Hester's helicopter can be used to zip you down south to the parts of the country we really care about.

BTW does Rish! know that Richmond is in the North, or because he goes everywhere by heli does he have no idea?

Does Rish! realise there is a North beyond the North?

I suspect he sees us Scots as nothing more than kilt wearing wayward hooligans incapable of governing for ourselves. I found it quite uncomfortable on yesterday’s QT them talking about Scottish policy in devolved areas with a Yorkshire audience.

Shock I hope this is not some sort of behind the scenes reform deal

Very late place mark halfway through the thread.

Rishi really does think because something is in Strasbourg , it's furrin.

On that basis, no doubt he's planning to leave the UN as well.

Scruffily · 21/06/2024 12:41

I just watched Sunak's performance from last night. He was SO rude to the young woman who asked the question about the ECHR.

And by his reply to her, he told us that he would put his personal view of what is needed for national security above all else, even if it contravenes basic human rights. Why the hell would we place trust in that?

Honestly would not put it past him.

I used to be in a constituency which was very firmly Tory up to around 2000, then went pretty firmly Lib Dem till they went into coalition. I would certainly vote Lib Dem if I was there, for obvious reasons.

I was at a meeting once with Ed Davey and a Conservative MP to talk about education issues. I found Davey quite impressive on that, and he had clearly done his homework - which was more than could be said for his Tory colleague.

Is it his version of 'you are grounded and no pocket money this week"?

I suspect when he said “access to finances” it was about access to the student loans and benefits systems.

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2024 13:02

I also loved how he spoke about his wife. It was genuine sincere affection and pride.

Thing is they are hardly worth much anyway these days.

Oh somebody has made a clip of the petulant one

I'm superstitious about anticipating anything for the night of the 4th/5th. I always remember the thread running on MN the day of the Scottish referendum when people were planning parties in Princes Street to celebrate Scottish independence, it was quite grim as reality hit them.

Might have been grim for them, but amazing for the majority as reality hit that Scotland had done the right thing!
Really wish more Scots had been in the audience last night as John Swinney might have been put under more pressure, they’ve had years to sort out NHS ( devolved) Education ( devolved ) and have made a hash of everything they touch. Also didn’t like the way Rishi just ignored Fiona Bruce totally, and talked over her, too used to getting his own way without being questioned.

Is Rish!'s problem this.

He was appointed as Chancellor because his predecessor refused to do as Cummings told him.

Rish! perhaps believes that whoever is in charge should always be obeyed and never questioned. He never questioned Johnson or Cummings when they were breaking the law. It didn't cross his mind to challenge them because they were in charge.
Now that he is in charge, he can't understand why he isn't attracting the deference that someone in his position surely deserves?

DuncinToffee · 21/06/2024 14:20

EXCLUSIVE: Jeremy Hunt’s re-election campaign and CCHQ have accepted tens of thousands from a dormant shell company with undisclosed ties to a Mayfair private equity fund

The Tory Treasurer's department initially rejected donations from "Ironduke Management", fearing it broke Electoral Commission rules, then U-turned

I honestly think Rishi’s main problem is that he’s a spoilt little rich kid with no real understanding of how normal, never mind underprivileged people, live and zero desire to educate himself. He can’t fathom for a moment why he might want to try to appeal to people so far ‘beneath’ him.

'Nigel Farage has praised the misogynist influencer Andrew Tate for being an “important voice” for the “emasculated” and giving boys “perhaps a bit of confidence at school” in online interviews that appear to be aimed at young men over the past year.
The Reform UK leader spoke in favour of Tate for defending “male culture” in a Strike It Big podcast that aired in February, while acknowledging that the influencer had gone “over the top” and elsewhere that he had said some “pretty horrible” things.'

So thats nice.

I'm catching up from last night but I really hope someone has alerted the feminism board?
