Sunak's CAR CRASH on LBC on food banks.

He must have been told by now that this is a really bad look, right? Getting tetchy with the interviewer and the public when they ask difficult questions and reacting as if we are all thick for not understanding how brilliant he is.

Blimey, I know he can be tetchy but that's really bad. Was he stamping his feet under the table?

prettybird · 19/06/2024 11:23

He must hate the fact that radio interviews nowadays are often televised/transmitted Grin

fabio12 · 19/06/2024 11:25

I know we keep saying it but I honestly think the Tories want to lose. They even don't want to risk Boris in case he accidentally spills some charm as a loose cannon. I do wonder if they know Russia is about to win in Ukraine, which is why the date was set for a summer election? I think Rishi knows we don't have money for defences and various other things we need to prepare.

Maybe I'm just in a dark mood.

CassieMaddox · 19/06/2024 11:27

I found his noticeable annoyance while the question was being asked very disrespectful. Basically his whole body language was "I'm not listening, lalala can't hear you!" Can't decide if he was ashamed because he knows it's an abysmal record, or if he genuinely isn't interested.

Saw also that the Daily Telegraph has come up with an article about Sir Keir Starmer's great age.

🤣🤣🤣 how fuckin desperate!!!!

He'll still be below state pension age at the next election!

BIossomtoes · 19/06/2024 11:30

It’s not that they don’t want to risk Boris, apparently he’s not playing ball. He’s only supplying the individual MPs who supported him with his video messages and he’s on holiday in Sardinia until 3 July. He apparently hates Sunak more than he wants to support his party.

tobee · 19/06/2024 11:44

To be fair which would you choose? A pointless trip to the Red Wall where people might not like you so much anymore, that's not going to benefit you but (one of your) successor who took your job who you can't stand?

Or a trip to the beautiful island of Sardinia, on another summer holiday? 🌞☀️🕶️🩲

Bigcoatlady · 19/06/2024 11:47

Boris: He won't fight them from the beaches

Understandable since they have already lost, but a new low for the guy who thought he was Churchill #2

Buckland is calling for an amnesty for those who got fined over breaching Covid rules Confused

By all means look into the proportional aspect, the student who got fined £10k v Johnson and Sunak's £100

I have an alternative theory.
Russia winning in Ukraine is not so bad, what really scares people, particularly in Washington is Russia losing and disintegrating. Perhaps it is that that is closer than we think?

Cheguevarahamster · 19/06/2024 13:03

ChristophyHope (GB news) is not impressed with Sunaks campaign. From twitter
"On the Conservative battle bus again today.
When will Rishi Sunak start to take risks with his campaign? Previous Tory leaders would be using their battle bus to pull into towns, jump off and do a 15 minute walkabout, before moving on.
It would be great TV and would show the PM taking risks to win over sceptical voters. Instead he sticks to controlled environments like workers in offices or factories, farmers in barns or party supporters. It is boring, safe and unimaginative.
And these visits are what Prime Ministers do in normal times; not what leaders of parties 20 points behind in the polls need to do to close a 20-point gap with Labour"

It is quite amazing how much of tis election was actually predicted.

The rise of Reform and their dodgy candidates.
Sunak swerving any contact with the real world.
Tory infighting overtaking the Euros as the #1 bet-on event
The resurrection of the LibDems
The vanishing of nationalist Scotland.

Ohanother1goodbye · 19/06/2024 13:43

Are we all having new names for the election night special?

That's a lovely idea, let's do it!

CassieMaddox · 19/06/2024 13:49

Yaaaay

CassieMaddox · 19/06/2024 13:51

Gonna take me ages to think of one though 🤔unless I reuse one of russ Jones'.

BREAKING: High Court rules that the government’s decision to scrap key recommendations from Wendy Williams’ independent review into the Windrush scandal was unlawful.

High court found the then Home Secretary Suella Braverman was “not justified” in breaking promises to create a migrants’ commissioner and boost the powers of the chief inspector for borders and immigration. Both recommendations to prevent something like Windrush happening again.

The problem is:

so what ?

No one will be punished, and no one will be recompensed.

Same as the tens of thousands who had their vote stolen in the last election. Value of a vote = fuck all of fuck all.

Nooooooo! I won’t be. Too much hassle. Plus I won’t know who anyone is if you all do that!

My heart is singing.

I want our youth to strip us old fuckers of our rights and privileges*. It would be just and it would be fair.

*Possibly hyperbole. But I wanted to note my awareness of what we have done to them.

I think it is likely to be they invade fully around mid July. By all accounts most of Europe has been preparing for this and have set up various conscription policies to prepare, which is what I think Rish! wants to get ahead of and why he plumped for it as an opener. When it happens and Labour haven't "prepared" he can do the whole "See, if I were in the youth would be fighting them on the beaches" nonsense.

Local water company now in the news for having a 3 month leak wasting water in a road near me. So that's where my money is going, literally down the drain.
