Great news about Johnson. He's is a complete liability. His failure is now complete😁. In other good news.

🚨 NEW: A record number of 629,875 people registered to vote yesterday - the highest amount in a single day ever.

15 days to go!

DeadButDelicious · 19/06/2024 07:10

Just had a BBC notification saying that inflation has fallen to 2%.

Rishi is on LBC later this morning, I'm expecting lots of smug 'stick to the plan' and 'turning the corner' crowing as he takes the credit for something out of his control.

Notonthestairs · 19/06/2024 07:10

There is a.plaintive tweet underneath Swinford's from Andrea Jenkyns pointing out that they had approached Johnson for support directly ie CCHQ had nothing to do with it .
I'm sure this is true - but it's telling that the most he would offer red wall MPs is a 30 second video from the back of a hedge.
Notable also that party discipline is nonexistent.

That's great news about people registering to vote! 🗳️

itsgettingweird · 19/06/2024 07:35

I didn't see it either.

However I'm easily identifiable on here because one specific thread I'm on makes my ds very easily identifiable 🤷‍♀️

I don't type anything personal under this name though and I'm opinion isn't worth much to anyone in RL 😂

IClaudine · 19/06/2024 07:38

Your opinion is worth a lot to us @itsgettingweird !

That's annoying. Especially when they have a super cool young labour guy standing.

No doubt "back to square one" will be wheeled out

Sadly, supercool young Labour guy made a stupid joke on Twitter about "white man's tears" being his favourite drink. This of course has given Farage ammunition.

Bum I missed that.

On another note, anyone see the SDP PEB? Hilariously bad acting and "plot", and focus on how bad the other parties are without any actual SDP policies.

Zonder · 19/06/2024 08:05

Sorry if it's already been discussed - had to skim read all the pages I missed on here!

Oh yes and I'm sure the old £2094 as well.

I'm still taking bets on how long it'll take him to get tetchy though? I'm guessing about 9:15am.

prettybird · 19/06/2024 08:29

Labour has suspended its candidate for Aberdeenshire North and Moray East for having shared pro-Russian material on-line back in April 2018 (to do with the Novichok poisonings in Salisbury) plus an "right wing Jews" post at a similar time.

Labour suspends candidate over 'pro-Russian' post https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0vvjzw5ejno

He'll still show as Labour on the ballot paper but should he win which he won't then he would have to sit as an Independent. Given the problems that the Conservatives have already brought on themselves by ousting an ill incumbent in favour of parachuting in Dross (who'd already announced he was leaving Westminster to concentrate on leading the Conservative Party in Holyrood) as a "safe" seat, it should give SNP hope that they can win it.

I wonder what the Best for Britain/Get Voting website recommends? Wink Can't be bothered giving them the click Hmm

Mel Stride called called out by Kay Burley this morning,

"So when it's low it's everything to do with you & when it's high it's nothing to do with you"

Sunak is live on LBC

https://x.com/Haggis_UK/status/1803331510591725925

Alistair confronts Rishi Sunak over taking donations from Frank Hester....so every Tory candidate & activists is in some way funded by racist money..

Rishi Sunak: He apologised

Alistair; That's like saying if Adolf Hitler had apologised, everything would have been alright

I've rewound and started watching.

Is he tetchy yet?

It shows why the Tories are bricking it TBH.
Bit of tactical voting and Labour might win. I wonder if some Tories will switch votes if they think they might get Farage

I just looked it up. He said this in 2019 when he must have been a teenager. Also iirc it was a bit of a trend to go on about white tears then. Seem to remember some threads about it on here.
Bit ridiculous Farage is spending more time vetting his opponents than his own team 😂.

BIossomtoes · 19/06/2024 09:05

It’s a tiny thing and there’s another two weeks for it to disappear into the ether. Better it surfaced now than the day before polling day. Who’d have thought Clacton would be so close?

It will only take a few Lib Dem and Green voters to vote tactically to make a radical.

Sunak's CAR CRASH on LBC on food banks.

He must have been told by now that this is a really bad look, right? Getting tetchy with the interviewer and the public when they ask difficult questions and reacting as if we are all thick for not understanding how brilliant he is.

You’d have thought they’d have remembered that a) Boris only does something when there’s something in it for him and b) when there’s work to do Boris goes on holiday.

SerendipityJane · 19/06/2024 10:03

Morning vipers.

Just seens a bite size summary on Google news that Sunak is wibbling on that Jim Ratcliffe will be able to afford Labour taxes because he's a millionaire.

Which surely does lead to the question: "so, "Rish!, me old mucker, why didn't you think to tax him first ?" ?

Ah ! Never knowingly undercited

Rishi Sunak says billionaires backing Labour 'can afford tax rises'

Rishi Sunak swiped at former Tory donor John Caudwell and Brexit-backing Manchester United owner Jim Ratcliffe, noting they were 'two of Britain's richest men'.

I only found out because I just had John Crace's Guardian column about it come up on my Apple News feed:-

Saw also that the Daily Telegraph has come up with an article about Sir Keir Starmer's great age.
