This is the biggest mistep on a election campaign since bigotgate and May/ Grenfell.
It's astounding.

No comparison. They were both live events - still not settled.

At this stage all Rish! can do is say he's still waiting to see about D-Day. Echoing the (misunderstood) Chinese reply when asked about the French Revolution in 1968 ("I think it's too soon to tell").

@Notonthestairs as if living in Basildon isn't bad enough

Agree & I say that as a resident surrounded by fuckwits of the London borough of Bromley

L1ttledrummergirl · 07/06/2024 14:43

Yesterday also showed a massive lack of honour and again highlighted how he lies.

There is no campaigning for 2 days as there is a more important occasion for that period. So he campaigns anyway.

CassieMaddox · 07/06/2024 14:52

I'm shocked by this though. Hope he gets no votes. From the picture the BBC used it looks like he is a labour candidate - very relieved to see he isn't.

He will stand in his former Leicester East constituency where he held the seat for more than 30 years.

Didn't her husband decide to back Labour after a Nat C? conference they both attended.

I am sure we mentioned that on a previous thread

Former singer or former actress is a better description.

LlynTegid · 07/06/2024 15:05

If Mr Sunak really respected the military he never would have appointed Grant Shapps as Defence Secretary. At least appoint someone who knows their own name.

Notonthestairs · 07/06/2024 15:06

"Didn't her husband decide to back Labour after a Nat C? conference they both attended. "

Yes but almost immediately she and her husband were pictured on her Instagram with Farage and Trump with the comment "my favourite people" or something similar.

I think candidate nominations close at 4pm.

Presumably the parties have completed their selections.

Also I've noticed an interesting rule. If a Tory screws up and apologises it must be brushed under the carpet Frank Hester. If a labour person screws up and apologises it must be held up as a mark of being guilty for ever more Diane Abbott

That's always been the way AngrySad

Unfortunately it means Labour have to make tougher decisions at times - just a shame it's not noted and recognised and doesn't actually help.

SerendipityJane · 07/06/2024 15:53

YouTube appears to be filling up with clips about Sunaks brave decision to tell veterans to go fuck themselves in front of the worlds press.

I am seriously wondering if this could force him to resign as PM. How is he going to face the public now ?

I don’t think any of us were excusing him, and I certainly don’t think he is neuro diverse. I have a son with autism who would never have done what Sunak did yesterday. My son is kind and empathetic and although he sometimes finds social situations tricky and doesn’t always say the right thing he is always trying his best and that shines through.

Sunak for whatever reason showed no understanding of the importance of yesterday’s commemoration and an apology today doesn’t alter his unforgivably offensive behaviour. I think that this will prove to be a turning point.

Agree. My son is autistic and is raging at Sunak.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/06/2024 15:56

I suspect Sunak's miscalculation is that he thought snubbing the French, in France would go down well with those who get over excited about his stop the boats rhetoric. He didn't realise it would be taken as a snub to the entire nation, even those who hate foreigners.
