Nigel stepping in as leader of Reform 🤢

Zonder · 03/06/2024 16:08

What does Tice think of that?

That's not going to boost their popularity, surely?

TokyoSushi · 03/06/2024 16:09

So he's the leader but not standing?

TokyoSushi · 03/06/2024 16:09

He's definitely a better speaker than Tice, but whether people like what he has to say...

cardibach · 03/06/2024 16:11

This worries me as he’s more than capable of pulling all the candidates before the election. That would make it very close.

I wouldn’t put it past him, will this unfortunately mean he will be given more air time?

Only if they switch to Tories and surely they will be mighty pissed off to be used like that?

SerendipityJane · 03/06/2024 16:16

This time, even if Reform pulled their candidates in Tory likely seats, it's much less likely to have the same effect.

Also, Nige, tell the world you think Donald Trump is a loser without telling the world you think Donald Trump is a loser. Let's sincerely hope Niges election is marred by the few MAGA nuts that know how to read.

TokyoSushi · 03/06/2024 16:16

Oh jeez, he IS standing, in Clacton...

TokyoSushi · 03/06/2024 16:17

Prepare to see SO MUCH MORE of the Farage... Oh my...

Zonder · 03/06/2024 16:17

Someone on another thread pointed out that they're not even a democratic party - nobody voted for the leader.

CassieMaddox · 03/06/2024 16:17

Surely more likely is its reached the point where Reform think they can beat Conservatives into 3rd?

prettybird · 03/06/2024 16:18

I wouldn’t put it past him, will this unfortunately mean he will be given more air time?

That's unfortunately the conclusion I came to too Sad

I'm sure it has nothing whatsoever to do with Trump being found guilty Wink, so his money making profile over there not being as much of a shoo-in.

Yes I think so, and the way the Tory campaign is going it might just be possible. Can you even imagine Farage as LOTO?!

Evenstar · 03/06/2024 16:19

Supertannsski on Twitter with over 200,000 followers is near enough to Clacton to make things uncomfortable for him apparently https://x.com/supertanskiii/status/1797616056707793117?s=61&t=xKCXjKa1-S6Ks0nSd_LXGg

Nope, nothing at all to do with Don & his troubles, nothing whatsoever...

Notonthestairs · 03/06/2024 16:20

He's definitely capable of telling any old lie and then pretending we misunderstood him.

How funny that after the Donald verdict Farage suddenly finds room in his calendar. What a patriot.

He'll win Clacton, shame really as he has zero interest in constituency issues - he'd be as bad as Galloway.

CassieMaddox · 03/06/2024 16:20

No! I think it'll be too much work for him - just like BoJo.

TokyoSushi · 03/06/2024 16:21

True, he's very much in a Johnson mould, loves the attention, but the actual work that comes with the job, no thanks!

prettybird · 03/06/2024 16:23

Labour being in Government and Farage as LOTO would do wonders for support for Scottish Independence Grin

Actually, no, even I wouldn't wish that on England. Hmm

Notonthestairs · 03/06/2024 16:28

Seems like a fair assessment. Going to make the HoC even more of a panto unfortunately.

Nigel Farage is standing in Clacton where Douglas Carslaw won before for Ukip so has a reasonable chance of becoming an MP. He also becomes leader of Reform UK so he can do TV debates and leader interviews and says its for 5 years. He's saying to Tories that he is available to take over their party. He can do all this without any normal political process because Reform is a company of which he is the key owner, so he can largely do what he wants.

One of those people (traditionally men but probably not these days) who say "I do a little bit of this, a little bit of that" and you never really know what they do for a living.

Some circles "a businessman"
Other circles "ducking and diving"

tobee · 03/06/2024 16:31

What do people think this means about U.S elections? I thought Trump was still riding high? Or at least neck and neck?

tobee · 03/06/2024 16:31

I've lost track of the Trump thread 😬
