I know that the LibDems have to struggle to get attention but it's all just making them look unserious now. And electoral calculus, fwiw, are predicting them to get 59 seats, so not a small amount.

But then I've never been a fan of the LibDems.

Oh gods. I feel like I'm in a political Carry On film now, between the latest Tory comms gaff and Lib Dems in a boat.

This election is being run on vicious mockery.

Truly beyond parody

tobee · 03/06/2024 13:51

Although that's a lovely gag @SerendipityJane !

RafaistheKingofClay · 03/06/2024 13:54

Happy for the Lib Dem’s to have some fun. Worst case scenario for them is they gain seats.

Au contraire. It's certainly warmed me to them.

And we aren't the target. The younger voters might be more in on it.

Was falling off the paddleboard a very niche reference to 1992 and Kinnock ?

SerendipityJane · 03/06/2024 13:56

Who else is waiting for the Rish! rap ?

Notonthestairs · 03/06/2024 13:58

I think when you are to all intents and purposes locked out of media coverage you either go populist rhetoric or (in the UK) slapstick.

Aside from the all leaders debates this is probably the most coverage the LDs will get - that's the fault of the system/media rather than the party.

dontcallmelen · 03/06/2024 13:59

The sainted one is a classic example of bluster aggression waffle & lies versus actual intelligence with a good grasp of what the brief is, she would sell her mother her granny & all belonging to her including her GC fans if she thought had a sniff at becoming leader of the conservatives, I truly hope she loses her seat.

I'm in trouble for 😂 but honestly, her blustering about the difference between legal and biological sex is my favourite GE moment so far (apart from maybe rainy Rishi).

Goodness knows what the debate tomorrow will be like. I reckon Starmer will barely need to speak before Rishi shoots himself in the foot metaphorically.

Oh no, they're not taking him to a shooting range are they?

DuncinToffee · 03/06/2024 14:30

Just catching up and you all made me laugh 😂

You can’t even joke about this shit any more. I thought they’d leave it at least a day.

KB’s performance on the media round has made my day.

Well I'm biased as I don't like the LibDems (this has been my experience for 4 decades btw) so I'm not coming at it from a good position. I freely acknowledge that.

I'm sure Sunak will go in brimful of confidence though. Amazing

The mental gymnastics elsewhere on MN to continue defending her makes me realise we are a whisper away from a UK version of Trumpism.

I reckon it's a pathology of having only a single interest.

Notonthestairs · 03/06/2024 15:39

BREAKING: Starmer confirms that he would fire a nuclear missile. Declines to name date.

x.com/tompeck/status/1797561576742175013?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

Just posting this because it made me laugh. Why would he name a date?

tobee · 03/06/2024 15:41

Always interesting to read the polls to see where others are picking up the percentages, whether it's all to Reform or all over the parties. Doesn't immediately seem obvious why.

prettybird · 03/06/2024 15:50

I'm still gamely hanging on to the hope that the Conservatives will lose even more seats than predicted and the SNP will win a few more (although my personal prediction is only 15). So (say) 18 and 19 respectively. Shock

It would be delicious if the Conservatives are beaten into 4th place by the SNP and so lose even the right to have two questions weekly at PMQs and only get the occasional opportunity (as is the case currently with the LibDems). Grin

A girl can dream Grin

Yeah she wasn't so much as on top of her brief but hurried under it and then dig herself further Grin
