This is a plan drawn up by someone who has never had to manage bored teenagers on work experience.

Loving the thought of conscripted teenagers on lifeguard duty. They'll be flocking to spend 24 days a year dozing in the sun on a beach somewhere.

There are 2 problems dovetailing here

  • over 100 candidates have yet to be selected for the Tories
  • Yet they are expected to defend on the doorstep policies they have had zero input into.

Bad luck if you were hoping to be a Tory candidate and don't like Rishis big idea then. Bearing in mind the Rishster hasn't even started yet.

As long as they believe THE PLAN is working they will be fine.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 26/05/2024 10:54

So he's given up on improving northern towns and is instead going to use the money to ship off their children into the military instead? Cracking plan.

Scruffily · 26/05/2024 11:00

Zonder · 26/05/2024 09:06

Sir Michael Take agrees 😄

I'm waiting for them to promise to abolish decimalisation. I can see restrictions on contraception being added to abortion restrictions, too, after all if Trump can do it why shouldn't Sunak follow?

The NS thing is fuelling some very nasty ageism in MN this morning. Cheers Sunk.

Edited

Don't worry, the refractory period gets longer with age. Things will quieten down.

Is The Plan different from THE PLAN?

I never worked out if the Blob was any different to the blob. Or The blob.

Maybe I'm not smart enough to vote ?

And the delivery of prescription drugs 😬 No worries there

😂

Of all the policies that might enable Red Wall voters to stay Tory, forcibly taking Luke Littler out of darts for a year is not the one.

I see MNHQ (or is it @MNHQ) are quite on the ball about moving threads into the election forum. Obviously that doesn't suit the bots too well, but helps. Maybe they can piss off and flood LadBible instead.

Thingscanonlygetsunk · 26/05/2024 11:43

So according to Not so Cleverly doing National Service for a year will boost skills.
I have an alternative suggestion. Stop measuring schools and pupils by exam results and instead use their time in education to develop those skills.

If I interview anyone, I ignore their results. Long experience has told me they rarely correlate to ability or aptitude.

Also if I set a competency test, I don't really care if you can do it or not.

Hadn't thought of that one, thanks for adding another reason.

James not so Cleverly

"Too many young people live in a kind of a bubble within their own communities," says James Cleverly.

"They don't mix with different viewpoints."

Here's a quick look at the diverse social outlooks of the current government.

And remember the clip of Sunak saying he had diverse friends even working class... Oh no not working class

tobee · 26/05/2024 12:25

Basically Tory activists hate young people.

I'll never forget my dm's encounter with a Tory canvasser in the 1980s (I know that was ages ago). My dm said, after some debate, to the Tory canvasser "what about the young?" Canvasser replies "the young have had it too good for too long!" My dm was disgusted.

£2.5 billion a year is more than enough to restore the pay of junior doctors. I’m sure that would probably do more to help the NHS than 18 year olds doing weekend work.

Someone at Labour Comms should run with this idea - a list of all the things we could have instead with the money. Blanket social media. Take out newspaper adverts.

That's not The Plan

The PLAN is to stop educating people

The more time goes on the more convinced I am becoming that Sunk is either:

  1. Deliberately trying to decimate the Tory party from within
or
  1. Doing a damn fine impersonation of someone deliberately trying to decimate the Tory party from within.

This is his Plan and it is working.

Suella Braverman is a top featured speaker at NatCon 2024, alongside Steve Bannon.

Fun thing, though: the conference is in Washington DC from 8-10 July.

That's just long enough after the GE for all the votes to be counted, and Braverman's utter irrelevance to be cemented.

Another gig with the Heritage Foundation - on the hunt for funding 💰

Re the NS - I imagine any charities deemed irrevocably Woke won't get a look in for volunteers.

That’s a great idea. It’s worth suggesting that idea to Labour HQ. Ditto the money thrown away on Rwanda.
