Have they changed the ingredients...Sure deodorant doesn't seem to be cutting the mustard....

The new Mitchum gel is brilliant

Seems to kill the pong but takes forever to dry and gets a bit sticky during the day. Like putting it on as a gel though.

BirthdayRainbow · 20/05/2024 20:30

I never smell but can be wet within literally minutes of putting it on. Just in the time to put it on, clean teeth, choose clothes the I'm already damp under my arms. I've tried a stick, then a spray, then another spray and even that doesn't keep me dry. What the hell is going on? Feel rubbish.

Fluffyowl00 · 20/05/2024 20:37

I’ve been thinking the same. Found an old can of Sure in the back of the cupboard. Works a treat. Don’t know what I’m going to do when it runs out 😩

PurplePositivity · 20/05/2024 20:42

I've had the same thing, glad it's not just me!

I went for a walk, nothing strenuous and I could smell myself Envy

They've probably watered it down or whatever.

things that do help me are
Washing armpits with soap and something scrubby as anti perspirant clings to skin
Wiping them with glycolic acid after shower
Then I use the dove/sure max cream one linked earlier but at night

I agree. Using an actual bar soap under my arms once a week or so makes a huge difference. It must kill off the bacteria better than even my best shower gel and scrubbing action can achieve!

this happened to me when I went into medical menopause: I went through many different brands before I realised it was a me problem

VWT5 · 20/05/2024 21:05

Yes - same here with Sure. Been using it for 40 years without issue. Opened a new one 3 days ago and it smells awful within just a couple of hours, the smell is actually worse than if wearing nothing. A bit bizarre.

Daisychainsandglitter · 20/05/2024 21:31

I had to change from Sure to Mitchum about a year ago.
I'd used sure since I was a teenager but I noticed that I was getting sweaty and starting to whiff by the end of the day. No complaints with Mitchum.

treacledan71 · 20/05/2024 21:34

I used my son's lynx for a few days as left mine at work and was a lot less sweaty. Wondering if to use it all the time.

DazedNotConfused1 · 20/05/2024 21:37

Well doesn’t deodorant work by killing/stopping the growth of bacteria? Perhaps there is in an increase in resistance?

Mandiba24 · 20/05/2024 21:38

I was thinking the same thing this weekend. I had to re- apply sure 72 hrs after two just two hours !
Mitchum not much better either. Dreading to think what it will be like in the height of the summer .

Antiperspirant blocks the pores to help stop you sweating. It's not about killing bacteria

Well the thread is about deodorant and I’m not completely wrong!

I've been using salt of the earth crystal deodorant from Amazon and it's really great. Worked all day. I never smell - it doesn't stop you sweating as such so sometimes it feels a bit damp but there was zero smell

Then the sun came out. Within an hour of sunbathing this week I was so stinky! I can't work out why that is - I've been running, in the gym, swimming and all sorts with this deodorant and never had so much a whiff.

I thought I had cracked it and I'm gutted.

Anyone know why sunshine would do that to me?

Loafbeginsat60 · 20/05/2024 21:48

I've been using it all winter so at least 6 months with zero issues

Meadowtrees · 20/05/2024 21:48

I haven’t noticed any change. Sure roll on still seems fine. I do think roll onsbetter than sprays though.

BirthdayRainbow · 20/05/2024 21:50

I just want to stop being damp!

Mumof2girls2121 · 20/05/2024 22:19

I thought the same, about sure and soft and gentle. Switched to lidls cien and it’s fine again.

BloodyHellKenAgain · 20/05/2024 22:49

I agree, deodorant doesn't seem to work as well. My 15 year old dd has also mentioned this about 4 weeks ago, so before it got warmer.

anythinginapinch · 20/05/2024 23:00

Yes! I thought it was me. But it's all crap now. Even hard core men's stuff.

SapphireSeptember · 20/05/2024 23:07

I don't use antiperspirants, but find the bionsen mineral active roll on deodorant works really well. I sweat a lot, and there is a bit of a smell when it's fresh, but once it's dry I just smell my deodorant.

Luddite26 · 20/05/2024 23:08

I was fine with dove roll on and spray but they've changed it all and obviously doubled the price and I stink. I thought I was going a bit mad tbh so I'm glad you've brought it up.others make me itch so I use dove fortunately still not itching with it but now I often still stink!

Jeannie88 · 20/05/2024 23:11

I think dove is still as good and beautifully smelling as ever! Often instead of deodrant I have a quick morning armpit wash with shaving foam or gel as it's basically condensed soap and it lasts a lot longer than deodrant, just me lol 😆 I can smell it throughout the day whereas deodrant wears off.

Summersprin · 20/05/2024 23:13

I went all hippy and got wild deodorant thinking that’s it, no more chemicals and aerosols. It lasted all of about 3 days, it didn’t work at all. It was like rubbing a bit of nice smelling oil under your arms. Yeah great but after an hour you will sweat.

I also wonder if normal deodorant has got worse. I went to a wedding last weekend and didn’t smell of BO but could feel the smell of sweat on my dress as the day went on despite reapplying it 🤦🏻‍♀️

WannabeHealthier · 20/05/2024 23:26

Yes my Dove stick is not very effective these days. I assume it’s due to Russia - I guess to keep prices low, new manufacturers are reducing quality!

Russia really did have the monopoly on anti-perspirants and now we are having to source our own in Europe. This is an example of an unexpected impact from war.
