One thing that makes me howl is Americans asking if WE (in UK) celebrate the Independence Day!!!!

Death DH took DD and her boyfriend to the airport starting at 4am but Floof was fine once he realised DH and I were both staying here and he purred so much. He would probably love lots of other cats but does forget that he is a large clumsy boy. DD has arrived fine.

Had meeting for DS where they didn't sign off but made another meeting, pleasant enough though not very useful. Hopefully do some gardening with DH this afternoon, he is just having a nap pre gardening! I have some plants from RHS to plant and some more weeding to do - have 3 purple and 2 white lavenders, a scented honeysuckle, a couple of lily like plants. Gone for the bigger 2 litre pots this time, last time I had quite a lot of 9cms ones and some were so tiny.

Will likely stay up and watch election, if can stay awake, drowsy still with the covid.

Just lounging in bed. Very sleepy.
saw pretty flowers last night when out. Took pic of lavender as remembered chat about lavender a few days ago here.

Happy Independence Day to those celebrating that and happy? Election day to the brits. I have voted, that’s all I will say about that.
Lovely to hear all the stories of dance/ballet, I did grade one ballet as a child and though I passed that was enough ballet for me. Far happier on a pony.
I had a lovely walk today. Some chatter on social media made me realise there is the remains of an Iron Age hill fort remarkably near me. It was a bit off the beaten track but had a very interesting information stone.
I have to say it amazes me to hear tails of grown up dc flying off without their parents. One of mine can’t even tie shoelaces yet never mind cope in foreign climes.

The world keeps turning as they say.

So, again, my soy milk is not foaming. 🤬
Rather, it foams, but becomes soap bubble-like and then dissipates. Most annoying.
Not to be beaten (today, anyway) I watered down my espresso to an almost Americano and whipped up heavy cream with sugar and pure vanilla to a thick, but not fully whipped, consistency and had myself a most luxurious drink. 🫣😋💕 To complement that I warmed a croissant and added Lindt version Nutella (superior and a recent find!) and sliced strawberries. Obv i will need some exercise today to balance that out, but atm, am feeling quite chuffed.

Going to take advantage of my caffeine buzz and get Havoc out for a show shop. Mine arrived last night, Havoc's will be here by Monday, but a lighter shoe for the playground and splash pad is needed.
(Hoping my shoes make me look like a cool mum!) 🤩

Glad DD & BF arrived safely. Hope they enjoy themselves. I did but it was very hot when I went and I tend to stumble about a lot in the heat!

Your plants sound lovely! I remember when I had a garden and had a honeysuckle and a winter and summer flowering jasmine. Love those smells Oh! and a French lavender!

I won't be voting. I could never vote Tory anyway, not even with a gun to my head! I am so fed up of them all. Yes I know what the suffragettes went through to get the vote but I really cannot do it this time. Not even a 'protest' vote to another lot. Sorry!

Hope dd has a good relaxing break with her bf ..she deserves it after LL the work she has put in recently with work and exams !

My holiday prep at the moment has consisted of buying a new smaller .....much smaller than usual ...backpack /rucksack !

Boys and I are going away in a few weeks...just for 1 night...but 1 and 1/2 days sort of thing.

Normally when we go away ...we are able to leave our bags where we have been staying and collect on our way back to the ration.

But it ont be possible this time...
So I have to be mindful that I (one of the boys) will be carrying the rucksack for our 2nd day visiting boats and ships !

I said to the boys we don't need to quadruple our items...

One person each takes the toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel.....

I would bring the ...day cream , night cream , eye cream and make up....
and we can all share 😂😂😂!!

I have bought tinsey winsey little pots to decant things into !

I struggle to travel light !

Just been to vote. It was very busy at poling station which is bizarre as usually it's very quiet. I recon overall voting will be up.

I had a postal vote ...but walked with DS up to vote ....
I didn't put him down as a postal vote when I added him to the whatevers I added him to .!
..
I wanted his 1st vote to be in a voting center !

Though technically...this is his 2nd vote now as we had some in May !

Our plumber should have been on Wednesday to replace our boiler ( still working, but on its last legs and I don't want to have it die in winter). He's just messaged to say he'll do it tomorrow- we've just driven to Wales. Lots of frantic WhatsApp messages to DDs to sort keys.

Dandy How old are your children? I have one 18 year old who is very capable at everything and an autistic 17 year old one who is improving but a long way to go.

Hope you get the boiler sorted Iwandered We have the boiler man coming round tomorrow DS permitting for an estimate to repair. At least it just does heating which we don't need at the moment and hot water in bath but we have an electric shower over the bath so use that.

Will watch elections tonight. Did 3 hours gardening with DH, was redoing sections thought already done but leaves had fallen and lots of branches were loose so cleared them. Looks much better but didn't get chance to plant the plants, DH was weeding but says we will garden again tomorrow. Pleased I managed it with tail end of covid.

Penguinsa, it's a slow recovery for covid, that's for certain. Get as much extra sleep as you can.

DH and DS went to see a baseball game this afternoon and I did a few things in the garden. I can hear some fireworks going off already (it's almost 6:00 PM) here.

My wild raspberries are starting to ripen. We have loads of them this year.

Meeting was Ok Bizzey but full of hot air and nothing got done and a fourth meeting planned to do what was meant to be done in one meeting but it s OK.

I would get sleep MissC but love to follow election night.

Am very happy to see all the posts and some from others who've popped back. 👍🥰

Bought Havoc a light pair of slip on shoes for the splash park/playground/beach. Stopped at a garden centre after, so have a bit of planting to do later.

Watched a bit of US news which is now all about Biden's mental fitness and age. Leave it to the D's to let the R's create the narrative and get sucked in to perennial and hapless defence. They just can't learn. And a felon will be in the WH again. God it was a woeful press conference with the WH press secretary who just kept digging deeper and deeper. Makes one wonder if they're trying to throw this one. 🤷‍♀️
But, I have strayed from the thread rules....🤫🫣

I had a pony and a couple of show horses growing up. Trained in both English and Western riding. Some of my best memories! 🥰

Wow Havoc..there are different ways to ride a horse !!!! 😲😲 😂!

To be fair...my horse riding skills go as far as ...just trying to stay on 😂!

Bizzey, yes, both equally fun. 😀

There are actually lots of ways to ride. Even watching one discipline like dressage an experienced equestrian will be able to make an educated guess which country each rider is from. The Germans in particular have a very classical way of positioning themselves on the horse.
I really enjoyed riding side saddle years ago. Because your legs are both to one side your core has to work extra hard to keep your weight equal on each seat bone.

Dandy, I always wanted to try side saddle! My riding days are long passed,

Temp is rising here. Supposed to reach 28c today and be in the 30c range into next week. 🥵
