@Mumtobabyhavoc

Ooh thanks re Sesame Street on you tube!

halfpasteleven · 27/02/2024 12:05

Lovely to catch up on everyone's news.

I have no tyre related news thankfully, but woke up last night and had a very nasty upset tummy that hasn't fully gone away. Don't know what has caused it as we were only out for a walk and at home yesterday and we all ate the same food...
DD was sick on Sunday but not like me...
Hope all of you are having a good Tuesday.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 27/02/2024 13:28

Hope you have a lovely trip Bizzey. Great idea to test out wet room in advance.

Half I ate the same food as my ex once, half a pie each, he even finished off my bit because it was a little too big. I was the only one who got food poisoning! The hospital said some people's stomachs are more delicate than others.

I'm feeling very unmotivated today but have to drop off a charity donation bag.

Umanresources · 27/02/2024 14:12

Vaguely related to tyre issues. Yesterday I emailed our local council about some potholes on the service road outside our house. Included some photos which were taken by my lovely OH. The road is heavily used twice a day by cars dropping off and picking up from the local High School. Riveting stuff, I know. 😂
Oh and I didn’t attend a hospital appointment, re lung function, it was carried out over the phone instead. Very strange, as I thought I would at least have had to blow into something, but no, just answer a few questions and no need for any follow up appointment.
I hope I’m not overwhelming anyone with my hectic lifestyle. I think I might just take it easy today and do some knitting!
Enjoy your day everyone. Phew Tuesday already, where is the week going?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/02/2024 20:42

Uman, those will definitely damage a car!
Half, hope you feel better. I had food poisoning/noro virus (likely) on vacay a few years ago... bloody awful.🤮💩

Had Havoc to school today for the first time since before Christmas! 🤗
Snow is expected today, so am about to run out for for sone groceries before it starts. News reported cities are already salting/sanding roads and people are encouraged to leave work early if poss. We get wet snow that becomes ice on the roads quickly here. So, even if we don't get much snow the roads will be slick.
It doesn't take much to bring the city to a standstill in winter...as evidenced in January and my 4 hour commute home when we got a sudden snowstorm. 😵‍💫

Shopping plan includes resisting buying cake...🫣

Tilllly · 27/02/2024 20:53

I had my suite cleaned today, it looks so clean and sparkly

MissConductUS · 27/02/2024 21:02

Uman, my daughter damaged a tyre hitting a pothole like those when she was home for Christmas break. They weren't in great shape, so we replaced all four. We're probably trading that car in in June, so a bit of a waste.

My orthopedist should have the radiologist's report from my MRI tomorrow, so I'll ring his nurse on Thursday if I haven't heard from him.

IWanderedLonely · 27/02/2024 21:37

Uman I've never known the roads this bad for potholes- I know 3 people who've damaged their cars or had punctures this month.

Been chopping veg to make a huge lasagne for tomorrow's family tea.

We have been talking about downsizing; we originally thought we'd do it when we were 60, may bring it forward by a couple of years.

Penguinsa · 27/02/2024 23:10

Hope MRI is OK MissC

Good Havoc got to school Havoc

Hope you feel better soon Half

Yesterday DH had a piano friend round at 7am and they chatted about pianos then after work he did his piano lesson. DD was back at school.

Today 4am I had an e-mail saying AirAsia Borneo flights cancelled (these are the ones originally booked in 2020 and last time to move them to was this summer). Anyway it gave the option of moving up to a month either way or getting a credit for 730 days. I chose credit as doubt we will be able to go this summer either. Then it said done but no credit was appearing. I queried this with robot who said yes you have credit x 2 of 0.00MYR. 🤔I kept asking the robot if I could talk to a person, nope talk to robot. 🙀In desperation I e-mailed a random AirAsia e-mail complaining and tonight they have given me the credit back up until Feb 26 so very happy with that. Next year will hopefully be easier to do that trip.

Went out with DH to Cambridge and walked around for 2 hours, along the back then along the river to Grantchester. Very pretty. Met 2 swans who were not impressed we had come without food and one I wasn't sure if he was going to bite us for that as he stretched his neck and made a grumpy sound. Walked round him but close to his friend and got through OK. Some nice spring flowers out, daffodils, crocus and snowdrops. Went to a few Cambridge colleges. Then went to Toby carvery and booked table which was good as they were turning away anyone with a table booking, had 2 roast dinners.

Also tried to get an MRI for surveillance from the hospital for cancer as was lobular, refused again. Asked them if they could write referral letter for private MRI nope. Said only offer mammos but those only picked up 1 of my 3 areas of cancer before and MRI picked up all. They said they know but NHS policy and no facilities.😡Said I must go to GP and get MRI sent to GP and they won't look at it. But GP missed the cancer and also getting hold of a GP is not easy here plus they are not trained in checking MRIs and lots of things get lost so that option is no use. I did have a bit more success asking how long my reconstruction would be (needed since Dec 21) and they said in 5 or 6 months they will contact me with a date.

Black bin is out, really need it collected, already have 5 sacks for the next one and apparently they didn't collect our green bin last time, no idea why but green bin is OK at the moment as that is garden stuff and not the weather yet. That is now due next week.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 29: Calmly through the day
bizzey · 27/02/2024 23:16

Penguinsa....if that is your garden ....you definitely need more green bin collections 🤣🤣!!

mathanxiety · 28/02/2024 00:14

After today's very unseasonably warm weather, the atmosphere has turned very volatile. I have the early evening news on, and they've suspended coverage of all but a storm moving into the area that is generating egg-sized hail and rotating wall clouds, indicating tornadoes are possible. The air way aloft is extremely cold and closer to the ground it is warm and moist.

...And apparently a tornado has touched down about 70 miles away.

I took DD to get a state ID today. They only take customers by appointment at the DMV now for many services. We made it there with one minute to spare, and DD was out in 15 minutes. Before they introduced the appointment system, you needed to bring your phone charger and snacks and get there early. Next up is a passport for her and yet more angst amd disappointment over official photos.

bizzey · 28/02/2024 00:38

Math ...i feel for your daughter's anxiety over the passport photo !

I don't think I will have time to get mine done ths week....but I have been uping my night-time skin regime ...in order to have glowing skin for the scrutiny of the dreaded passport mug shot 😅🤣🤣🤣!

bizzey · 28/02/2024 00:41

I have water coming up from underneath the laminate flooring in the kitchen 🥳🥳😅😅😞😮!!

That's not a good sign is it !

Can't find a pattern ...

Washing machine not been used in 2/3 days...

Rain has stopped...

Unless it all comes up afterwards ?

Dreading telling LL .

bizzey · 28/02/2024 00:45

To start with ...I just thought one of the boys was dropping water /messy with juice sort of thing !

But ,,,,it is not !

If I stand on a bit of the floor ...it bubbles up !

Anyone had the same ?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2024 01:21

Penguinsa, well, that is a ridiculous system. 😡
what about an (private pay?) ultrasound?
Math, crazy weather! Scary, actually. Please check your emergency supplies, be prepared and stay safe. 🩷
Bizzey, I've perfected my Mona Lisa smile for passport and dl pics. Been happy with them last few times now.

Snow/rain had started when I popped out for groceries. I caved and brought home mini carrot cakes (very large cupcakes). Had a salad of rotisserie chicken, tomatoes, cucumber, orange bell pepper, croutons and Olive Garden dressing for late lunch then a carrot cake cupcake and a latte after.

Tilllly · 28/02/2024 02:47

That sounds alarming @bizzey
Can't think where it's coming from

Penguinsa · 28/02/2024 02:59

Good luck with the passport photos Math They are strict here and sillily strict with babies.🤔Esp as many babies look alike and you can't really recognise exactly a toddler from a baby photo when you use the passport later.

😂Bizzey re green bin. That sounds concerning re floor Bizzey Normally washing machine leaks are above and obvious. Maybe burst pipe under the floor?

Thanks Havoc I am looking into private options.

Just watched Below Deck.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2024 03:28

Bizzey, I concur with Penguinsa. Leaking pipe. Don't delay calling LL. Your insurance is dependent on quick and reasonable action. Also should tell insurance co.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 28/02/2024 04:29

I need to get me a Mona Lisa smile for my next passport Havoc, great idea! I looked like a murderer in the last one, all dead eyes and soulless 😳

Hope the leak can be fixed soon Bizzey, it'll be affecting your water bill. At least summer is coming for it to dry out.

That's tough with being messed around by medics Penguinsa.

Hope you're not affected by the tornado Math. Egg sized hail sounds potentially very damaging.

I bought fresh flowers today and they're making the living room smell lovely.

Penguinsa · 28/02/2024 04:37

Fresh flowers are lovely Mallards

On our walk we came across a beautiful florist / plant shop and bought a small pot with daffodil bulbs in and some dried lavender.

halfpasteleven · 28/02/2024 05:24

That's not good @Penguinsa re your scan . It maddens me that they won't give you the MRI - it makes perfect sense to follow up with one. Hope you can get one done privately.

The leak sounds like you need to tel the landlord @bizzey. Hope it is sorted quickly and not such a big job.

Stay safe from the hailstones @mathanxiety

Hope the bad/icy roads don't come @Mumtobabyhavoc

Thanks @MallardsMoorhensAndLethe it has stopped thankfully, I just ache now and I'm awake with sore cramps. Hope you weren't long in hospital that time.

Deathraystare · 28/02/2024 08:08

@Umanresources

Don't get too excited over those potholes! Do you live in Hampshire by chance? A pothole breeding ground if ever there was one!

That is odd re your lung infection. Are you able to breathe ok. Not to alarm you too much but just be aware if it gets worse badger your Dr. I had a lung infection and eventually was given antibiotics. The next time it happened and I really went downhill. I could hardly walk without being puffed out. I went to and from work by taxi!

Could not get to see a GP for it although I got an appointment for my blood pressure and they could see then I could hardly move with being breathless. In the end I went to the walk in centre where it transpired I was in heart failure! The excess fluid was going into my lungs! Suddenly the GP was interested!

Now if I do not take my tablets religiously it happens again.

As I say I do not wish to alarm you but do keep on top of it. If you get fobbed off by patient shy GPs go to a walk in.

Deathraystare · 28/02/2024 08:13

@Mumtobabyhavoc

I had the Sesame Street theme in my head this morning while waiting for a bus!!

Umanresources · 28/02/2024 11:46

@Deathraystare I've reported the potholes before and they were dealt with very quickly, but the road is really overused by school traffic, hence the potholes showing up again. I'm in Greater Manchester though, not southern, so I wonder if that does make a difference to the speed of mending.

Thank you for your concern but my lung function testing isn't the result of an infection, but a screening for smokers or ex-smokers, between the ages of 55 and 75. I'm ex and have been for many years, thank goodness. I've not had any lung related problems at all, but I certainly would be asking for a doctors appointment if I did. That said, it's taken me ages to get a face to face appointment about something unrelated. 18th March was the earliest I could get one, booked in early February! I'm glad you got yours sorted though.

Today I shall be mostly knitting. I did manage to finish reading a book of had on the go for ages. My TBR piles are increasing steadily.

Hoping everyone has a satisfactory outcome to their problems, none of which sound particularly trivial.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2024 13:42

Mallards, made me laugh. I'm sure it's not that bad! 😹
But yes, I practised in front of the mirror to see how I could do it without breaking the "no smiling" rule.
Bizzey, how have you fared re floor?
Uman, utterly ridiculous if you have a medical issue. Surely, the doctor should listen to your chest? smh
Good advice from Death.
Death, Sunny days, sweeping the clouds awaaaay...😸

Waiting for kettle to boil. Have done a few yoga poses, grabbed some weights and did a quick upper body routine. Did one proper push-up.
