HelenaJustina · 30/03/2024 14:09

What an eventful morning Bizzey!

We are on Day 3 of the Triduum, and tonight is my favourite Mass of the year. DC1 has reprised their altar serving role (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and today) as they are the only one confident with the incense. Hoping for a slow, sunny weekend!

bizzey · 30/03/2024 15:35

Beautiful day though in my neck of the woods ...
Perfect for a certain boat race that is happening today 😁😁 !!

Well, Friday morning was good. Before work in the afternoon, me and another friend agreed to help out a friend put her sofa/bed together. I got there the earliest as I wanted to try out a new coffee shop nearby.

I had a look at both of the sheets provided with diagrams and thought oh shit! however it really just needed some legs on and some screws fitted. The other lads came 10 minutes later and really, truth be told it took no time at all. So more time to chat and dtink coffee/tea. The sofa lady rewarded us with mushroom soup, bread, cheese and biscuits and we swapped Easter chocolate!

Yes, we tried out the sofa and although I joked it would all go 'ping' when we sat on it it is fine and comfy. It is a 2 seater but three arses managed to sit on it including my large one!!!

We will be sitting on it again next Saturday when we are there for book club and have decided when the weather is better than we would really like to visit Highgate cemetary.

I am not at work tomorrow (Sunday) but have plenty to do indoors, mainly boxing up stuff I need all the time, so boxing some books and clothing for storage.

MissConductUS · 30/03/2024 19:08

Well done getting the sofa put together, Deathray. DH hates it when I but things that have to be assembled like that, but he always does it.

I've made a cheesecake for Easter dinner tomorrow at my brother's house.

There are some small signs of spring here. There are more birds at the feeder and I have a flower open in the front garden. The cactus is also doing its annual spring resurrection.

We had a box of cupcakes delivered here my mistake. The house number on the address doesn't exist, but it's close to ours. I rang the company, and the said to keep it. Mingus is testing the box for habitablity.

I hope you can get that sorted quickly Bizzey. Beautiful photo. Love the blossom.

Have a lovely meal MissC

Well done Death

Hope everyone is having a good Easter.

It was my birthday, and DH and I had a lovely meal out at a nice restaurant overlooking a lake and then visited a castle and gardens. Had lots of little tapas plates. DH has bought me a magnolia for the garden. DD got me a very pretty candle.

Thanks so much Bizzey and Hilda. Hope you both have lovely Easter Sundays.

MissConductUS · 31/03/2024 11:40

Happy Birthday, Penguinsa, and many happy returns!

Hoppy Easter, everyone. It's just half six here, so I'm getting ready to exercise before church. I'm going to the 9:00 service so that I have time to make a raspberry sauce to go with the cheesecake we're taking to my brother's house for dinner.

Happy birthday for yesterday Penguinsa it was a beautiful sunny day here, hope you had good weather for the castle and gardens.

Have had a gorgeous Easter so far, and it really only the very beginning of the holidays!

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 31/03/2024 21:26

Oh free cupcakes MissC, how lovely.

Happy birthday Penguins.

Hope the leak is fixed properly this time Bizzey.

sproutsandparsnips · 31/03/2024 22:49

Happy birthday very belated for yesterday Penguinsa!
Bizzey hope the leak gets sorted, glad DS was there.
We sometimes get takeaways delivered, but a couple of our local places don't deliver. The kids get things delivered on an app, but I don't really get that!
Helena, Miss I have not been able to get to church this weekend because we have been away.
We have just got back from Butlin's with DS' rugby team. I have been dreading it for ages with all the things I've been told but it was really ok. Not my cup of tea and I wouldn't have chosen to go in a million years but it was arranged and actually it was quite clean, food was ok and company was good. The other parents were great and the boys behaved very well.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/04/2024 08:34

🐰🐰 Easter, everyone. 🐰🐰
The day flew by! Havoc had fun finding chocolates this morning. It was so cute. 🥰 Took lots of pics of baby for first Easter. 😍 Dor breakfast made coconut choco-chip pancakes with berries and chocolate whipped cream. 😋 Lunch was crab pizza with pesto, spinach and bell peppers. Also 😋. Dinner was roast duck, baby potatoes, asparagus and corn on the cob. 😋 Dessert was coconut cake from favourite cake shop. 😋
Managed a good walk with Havoc to work off some of the chocolate. Coloured eggs as well which was fun. 😄
I'm a bit over-tired, I think. Still wide awake at 12:30am just finished watching the series Capote and the Swans.
Easter Monday now. Plan is to drop off decorated eggs and chocolate to a couple friends with Havoc and have a friend over for afternoon Easter left-overs. Going to make same except veg will be cooked fresh and making garlic bread with baguette for roast duck sandwiches. 😋😋😋

I hope everyone had a good Easter Sunday and will have a relaxing Easter Monday. 💕

Penguinsa · 01/04/2024 17:58

Thanks MissC Hope you had a lovely Easter.

Thanks Helena and Mallards Glad your Easter is going well Helena and hope yours has been good too Mallards.

Thanks Sprouts Glad Butlins was good and clean.

How wonderful to have a first Easter Havoc.

I have had a wonderful Easter with some lovely meals out, beautiful walks and a couple of boat trips and seeing a castle. DH and DD are off to Oxford tomorrow for DDs offer holders day. I will stay with Floof, silkies and DS.

MissConductUS · 01/04/2024 23:06

These were the cupcakes we wound up with for free. They're miniatures, but very good and lots of interesting flavors. And my cheesecake was a hit.

We had a family Facetime call with DD while at my brother's house on Easter, so she got to chat with that part of the family, which was lovely.

Your cheesecake looks great MissC and the mini cupcakes look fun.

DH and DD have gone down to Oxford now for DDs offer holder day, they stay tonight in a hotel then day is tomorrow. Coming back via Toby carvery.

Just had a chinese, had the duck with pancakes, hoisin sauce and spring onion. Green and blue bins are out for collection. I got Floof an extra tuna as he hates people missing. He was won over.

Will watch below deck now.

MissConductUS · 02/04/2024 20:55

Penuinsa, our cats hate people missing. All servants must be present at all times. It was grim when the kids went to uni.

The Forsythia around the reservoir is blooming. There are massive bushes of it everywhere. And I saw Mr and Mrs Duck swimming happily in the rain.

I have my presurgical exam tomorrow. My internist was booked solid, so his Nurse Practioner is going to do it, which is fine. She'll be less time pressured than him.

Miss, hope appt and surgery go well. Do you have a surgical date now? Happy for you that your cheesecake was well received. Mmmmmm. 😋

Penguinsa, your day/evening at home sounds so nice! We call duck with pancakes & hoisin that way, Peking duck. I love it!!!😋😋😋
Sounds like you had a very nice Easter weekend. Hope things go well for your dd at the uni she is checking out. 🤞 Floof must be loving having all your attention. 🥰
How does ds cope with change like this, dh&dd going away?

Visit with friend yesterday was lovely. The duck sandwiches on warmed baguette with garlic butter were so good! 😛 Cooked up veg fresh to go with (roasted potatoes with Chinese 5 spice, asparagus with garlic, and boiled corn on the cob then tossed with butter). Had coconut cake fir dessert. Drink was lemon-flavoured Perrier with sliced strawberry to make it festive. Neither of us drink much/often.

I've got my own bit of bliss atm: dc are asleep; it's quite grey outside and I'm sitting here, no lights, looking out at the sky, sipping a latte and have just eaten a warmed croissant with pistachio spread and sliced strawberries. 😛
Errand for the day is to drop off financial info to accountant for tax reporting. Deadline to file is April 30.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/04/2024 22:10

Tillly, thinking of you. 🥰

mathanxiety · 03/04/2024 03:00

We had a nice Easter. DD and I went to the Easter vigil Mass, which as usual was a three and a half hour marathon. There were seven confirmation candidates, four of whom were also baptised.

We had Thai curry for dinner, with plenty of leftovers, so we're still enjoying it.

I decided to conduct a serious search for my lost driver's license after praying to every saint I could think of, as well as Mary untier of knots, for the last ten days - and found it.

There's snow expected tonight and it feels very chilly.
