Leakproof coffee cup that keeps coffee hot

Please give me your tried and tested recommendations. All I want is one that really won't leak, and where my morning coffee is still hot by lunchtime. I've tried several that have leaked horribly despite being done up properly.

Would I be a fool to buy a couple of contigo for DP and I to use after the baby arrives? Conscious of the lack of handle? I'm clumsy at the best of times so when sleep-deprived worried about dropping the cup when working one-handed...?

@Whataretheodds my TOPL one (I think it's the 'SpillSafe') has no handle but has a mechanism which prevents major spills. I've had it a while but now pregnant and realising how useful this will be when baby arrives. Despite no handle I find it really easy to hold because of the shape and material, and I have really small hands so that is not a given. Not cheap but it is really good.

I'm sure people do. I mentioned upthread that I stopped using mine because coffee too long to cool down. I'd rather have too-cold coffee around a baby (and microwave it if need be) than too-hot coffee, so I'd prefer a mug that lets the drink cool, just at a slower rate. That might be overthinking it though.

Might be good for walks though, when the baby's a bit further away in a buggy.

DS used to go to a soft play that supplied contigos for the parents.

It worked to prevent spills. they were those ones where you have to push a button to open them, so they closed automatically if you dropped them

The drinks were nuclear-hot for hours though - I don’t think I ever managed to actually drink a cup of tea there, it was still hot enough to burn my tongue two hours after we arrived.

I was given a Yeti brand cup for Christmas. It’s really super. Stays mega hot and totally leak proof.

my mini flask from cotswolds is the absolute greatest. put it upside down and doesn't leak, coffee stays warm, inoffensive to look at. such an awesome piece of kit, and 16 pounds! AND if you lose the gaskets like i've done you can order those without getting a new mug.

I also love the SHO cup. Make a coffee at home in the morning and it's still warm/almost hot in the afternoon. Lovely colours that don't scratch, they're easy to clean and klutz proof - I've knocked mine over several times and the lid has stayed resolutely in place.

Platypuslover · 16/01/2024 00:24

Thermos. My husband makes my coffee with his tea around 6am and it’s still hot when I finish it around 1-2pm at work.

Contigo Westloop

The other Contigo whilst leak proof has a lid that doesn't last as long sadly as I found out when it leaked in my work bag

TwoOfMine · 16/01/2024 03:08

These they're bloody brilliant

I bought one that's lasted 8 years of being chucked around in my bag

Pretty sure it was recommended on here MN

This is the Contigo where the lid broke. The bit in the lid that opens and closes just popped out one day causing it to leak

It lasted about 4 years so not too bad

Thanks to this thread I've started putting my Contigo cup in my bag this week, never realised just how leakproof they were! I have a couple as I often forget them at work, then need another for the following morning, I've also made a coffee then forgotten to take with me 😢. I've been so much better at keeping them this week using my bag! Thanks folks

Wow I had no idea this thread was still going! Thank you so much.

I love my SoleCup thermal. It's leak proof and keeps my drink hot all day long. There's a push button in the top of the lid so really easy to use and I've never had any issues. They have some really pretty colours too. I got mine from Amazon and my friend got hers from their website because they do a 20% NHS discount.

We have the Nespresso Touch in different sizes. Does not leak in bags + keeps coffee hot.
Doesn't fit in car cupholder though, if you need it for driving.

Sorry, just realised reading through this again that is the Nespresso Nomad we have not the Touch!
The Nomad has push button lid to open to drink & push to close. Does NOT leak in bags even if upside down, as long as you have screwed lid on properly & pushed closed.
Apologies for mistake in previous post.
