Leakproof coffee cup that keeps coffee hot

Please give me your tried and tested recommendations. All I want is one that really won't leak, and where my morning coffee is still hot by lunchtime. I've tried several that have leaked horribly despite being done up properly.

Corkcicle Commuter Cup. Not cheap but ceramic lined so you can drink tea or coffee from it and won't get that horrible flask taste. Most designs are dishwasher safe too

720Degree coffee mug from Amazon! The whole office had them! Well rated!

Contigo is the best for not leaking. I have tried many cups over the years and they really are the best.

I have the contingo snap seal cup and it keeps it warm & has never leaked

Second this, amazing bit of kit. Keeps stuff warm for hours and rolls around in my handbag, leak free!

Contigo Byron. Pick them up in supermarkets and sometimes on sale, about £12. Never leaked and have recommended to family.

Is it the type you are buying. Some of them have small holes in them tomavoid pressure build up and so you can drink from them. My Bodum is like that and it's a pain having to keep it upright - I cant put it in my bag and it doesnt fit the cuobolder in my car so I have to wedge it in the door pocket.

Habe just bought a thermos which is labelled leakproof!!

A thought about keeping you'd drink hot - I always preheat mine with boiling water for 10 minutes or so before making my drink on it.

We have the Nespresso Touch in different sizes. Does not leak in bags + keeps coffee hot.
Doesn't fit in car cupholder though, if you need it for driving.

I love my Nespresso Touch and it's actually about the only cup that does fit in my Renault's awkward cup holders 😀

These Thermos mugs from the US meet the brief perfectly. I find the handle is useful - something many others don't have. Lid is leakproof and has one handed operation (push button).

I have one of the old Costa Coffee metal insulated cups. It's by far the best one I have. Doesn't leak, keeps coffee hot and fits in my car cup holder. They have changed the design now, so I don't know if the new ones are the same or worse.

Contigo West Loop

EndofDaze · 07/01/2024 09:29

Had Contigo in the past and they were ok to keep drinks warm for 3-4 hours. Now have a Yeti rambler with hotshot lid. Tea made at 7am still piping hot at 1pm and beyond.

Anyone else find the metal containers completely change the taste of tea?

The only time I had this problem (and had scalding black coffee flood everywhere ) was when I didn't close the lid properly. Now I take my time and turn the closed up upside down to ensure I don't repeat that experience! 🌹

Are people really throwing their Contigos in their totes and rucksacks?

I totally believe you when you say they don’t leak but I think would still be too scared to do this, just in case of a leak.

Yep 100%. It’s infallible. I’ve been using them for years and never had a leak.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/01/2024 09:36

Contigo.

The ones that cost about £12 Tesco are best. Better than the pricier ones!

I'm devoted to Contigo travel cups, they're brilliant for all the reasons everyone has said. I recently got a Le Creuset one that also ticks all your boxes - doesn't leak, keeps hot for hours, fits in car cup holder. It was about £20 in their outlet shop.

The sales assistant advised me not to put the lid in the dishwasher as it would knacker the seal, but I do and it hasn't (yet).

KissTheRains · 07/01/2024 09:46

I tried a few 'travel mugs' and didn't get on with them.. you could say I felt a mug for buying them.. ha.

Anywho..

I bought a Stanley Trigger Action, just a small one, about 400ml. It's brilliant. You fill it up and it'll actually stay hot for hours. There's a button on the lid you press and sip from the hole. Let go of the button and the hole closes and it's pretty much air tight again. Holding it upside down, I don't know what anyone would, but it doesn't leak, but it does fill the lid with liquid but turning it back right way up and it drains back where it should be. It doesn't have a handle so fits in water bottle pockets of bags but, as it's a Stanley dual wall, the outside never gets hot so you don't need the handle really.

I got a red one, I've used it pretty much daily for over a year and I've recently started clearing out thinks I don't love .. and my Stanley isn't going anywhere..

Tl:Dr - Stanley Trigger Action Is Awesome.

Contigo West Loop in stainless steel.
I bought the stainless steel ones because I read somewhere that the coloured ones chip. I've no idea if that is true or not though.
I wanted a travel mug that could go in the dishwasher - top rack only.

Hermanfromguesswho · 07/01/2024 10:06

Definitely Contigo. Mine often ends up upside down in my rucksack and has never leaked. I use it daily and it’s lasted years.

Grimbelina · 07/01/2024 10:14

@LadyEloise1 you are absolutely right - we have both and the coloured ones don't look great after a while (still useable of course but the stainless steel ones like like new).
