Leakproof coffee cup that keeps coffee hot

MyOtherProfile · 06/01/2024 23:24

Please give me your tried and tested recommendations. All I want is one that really won't leak, and where my morning coffee is still hot by lunchtime. I've tried several that have leaked horribly despite being done up properly.

Primus are really good.

FuckityFuckBollocks · 07/01/2024 10:29

The Klean Kanteen TK wife is fab, however I’m not sure I’d trust any of them completely inside a back back due to my inability to screw kids on properly etc, I keep mine in the side pocket.

Contigo is amazing 4 years old never leaked. I have their water bottle too

I love my ohelo. Properly leak proof, I shove it in my bag with my laptops no worries. And my coffee is still hot past lunchtime. And it's dishwasher proof. The holy grail of on the go coffee cups

BigBundleOfFluff · 07/01/2024 11:51

Contigo - bought on the recommendation from Mumsnet. It's the tits, it really is.

I have the contingo snap seal cup and it keeps it warm & has never leaked

This. It's the only one that passes the test for me.

Grimchmas · 07/01/2024 12:06

Contigo. I actually stopped using mine because it kept my drink too hot

This is a really good point actually. I was trying to remember what stopped me from using my contigo - it wasn't leaks, that's for sure. I know it was a pain that it didn't fit in my car cup holder, which is a massive downside to me as that's where i primarily use mine - but now that somebody had mentioned it, it was also that it worked so well that my coffee was always too darn hot for me to drink!

I bought a cheap generic travel mug that fits in my cup holder instead, sacrificing the leak proof and excellent thermal insulation elements for a drink I could actually drink on 30-60 min commutes, which is what I mainly use one for.

Am mildly annoyed that I have realised this and have no idea where my contigo is, now that I'm going on a longer drive next month and it would be ideal for a drink later on in the drive- but I do have flasks that will keep a drink hot all day, so no big deal!

Wow so many replies! Thank you all. I'll read through them this afternoon.

Are people really throwing their Contigos in their totes and rucksacks?

I totally believe you when you say they don’t leak but I think would still be too scared to do this, just in case of a leak.

Absolutely! X

Toddlerteaplease · 07/01/2024 12:30

Contigo! Keeps it very hot.

Smash- I will find a link. I got one for each person in our house and no leaks plus still hot hours later after a year of use.

i have little smash flask/coffee cups. I got mine from tkmaxx. Im not sure coffee would be boiling hot hours later, but it does keep it warm and doesnt spill

Fluffypuppy1 · 07/01/2024 14:13

Another vote for the Nepresso Touch. I take mine out shopping with me instead of buying a Starbucks. I chuck it in my shopping bag and it’s never leaked.

TheCatterall · 07/01/2024 16:14

we swear by the Smash cup that @SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything recommended. Got ours from Sainsbury’s but know they are available elsewhere as well.

I have a pink one and it’s in and out of the home/bags/cars/trains/conferences etc and still looks good. Easy to clean and not had any accidents with it.

chap is an apprentice engineer assessor and he’s in and out of workshops and his is battered and bruised but still doesn’t leak.

We’ve had them for nearly 2 years now.

Avoid this, it’s absolutely rubbish, 1 hour maximum it keeps drinks hot for, if you’re lucky!!

But is it to keep liquid cold not hot ?

MaddieElla · 07/01/2024 19:02

Stanley trigger action. Still burns my mouth 3 hours later.

Kangarude · 07/01/2024 19:35

I have a Contigo west loop. It doesn’t spill but doesn’t keep the coffee hot for hours once you’ve had a sip. One sip and the air gets in and it cools pretty quickly

TheHumanFund · 07/01/2024 20:43

Zojirushi - not cheap but worth every penny.
Keeps drinks hot for an insane amount of time. I make coffee at 6 am and sometimes don't finish it until early afternoon and it's still hot.
Completely leak proof, non stick inner so easy to keep stain free, drink one handed, it's slim so never had a problem fitting in any cup holder, dropped many times on to concrete and only has minor cosmetic damage.
I used to have Contigos and was happy with them until I bought this and there's no comparison. It's probably my most favourite possession 😊

May I ask an additional question here? I thought it might be worth piggybacking as the info might be useful to the OP.

What I am looking for is similar, but not identical. I want all the above, PLUS a squisher. By which I mean that I want a cafetiere which doubles as a travel mug (they do exist). Extra points for if anyone knows where I can get the one which used to be made which is wider at the bottom than the top, like a truncated triangle. So, a non-leaking insulated cafetiere for one, ideally wide based. Happy to start my own plea/thread if the OP/posters don't find the idea useful.

The bodum ones are good, but NOT leakproof if you tip them upside down. Just thought I’d warn you - they look lovely and solid but the clip on the lid isn’t secure enough to just chuck in your bag.

Yep. I've seen and rejected them. Thought these looked a possibility, but keen to find the one with the wide base if possible. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kahvi-Cafetiere-Travel-Coffee-Stainless/dp/B014R18K2C/ref=sr_1_19?crid=34KBSABRKFM6Q&keywords=trave%3B%2Bcafetiere%2Bcoffee%2Bcup&qid=1704673809&sprefix=trave%2Bcafetiere%2Bcoffee%2Bcup%2Caps%2C57&sr=8-19&th=1

you can use it for hot & cold drinks.

Carsarelife · 09/01/2024 20:39

Contigo doesn't keep piping hot but hot enough and didn't leak at all

ScrambledSmegs · 10/01/2024 08:50

For tea - I have a Frank Green ceramic walled mug which is perfect, doesn't change the taste at all. Keeps the tea pretty hot, not for as long as some but I've had to take the lid off on occasion to cool to drinkable so still good.

You do have to double check the lid is sealed though, I've had a couple of leaks.

Would love an Ohelo, they're so beautiful. Nice to know they work well too.
