Leakproof coffee cup that keeps coffee hot

Please give me your tried and tested recommendations. All I want is one that really won't leak, and where my morning coffee is still hot by lunchtime. I've tried several that have leaked horribly despite being done up properly.

I'm another Contigo Snapseal user. I must have used it 500+ times. Still going strong although the dishwasher has stripped the painted layer off it so it's now silver. No leaks.

I swear by this one from IKEA. It keeps my cup of tea hot all day. If I make it at 6.30am it still burns my mouth at lunch time. www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/undersoeka-insulated-travel-mug-black-30497268/

Should also add it doesn't leak!

Anyone else find the metal containers completely change the taste of tea?

Yet another vote for Contigo. Although the lid is quite fiddly to clean properly and mine didn't fit in the car cup holder which was really annoying.

Only aluminium. I don't find I have that problem with stainless steel.

Lizzieregina · 06/01/2024 23:49

Definitely Contigo. Everyone in my house has one.

Yeti is also good.

Moon5 · 06/01/2024 23:51

I have a Smash one and I love it. Never leaked and keeps my coffee really hot for ages

alexio · 06/01/2024 23:53

Metal ones from Starbucks. I have always found them they best keep it's hot for hours and have never had an issue leaking. They also look nice

RhubarbFairy · 06/01/2024 23:54

My Klean Kanteen keeps my tea scalding until well beyond lunchtime!

It doesn't leak at all. Though it's pricier than the Contigo mentioned above!

ScrambledSmegs · 07/01/2024 00:31

Definitely Contigo. I have the West Loop and I love it. I've got several other newer ones - Chillys, Frank Green etc - and while they do a decent job the Contigo is the only one that keeps drinks as hot as when you made them and is completely leak-proof.

The lid goes in the dishwasher - essential to stop any weird taste developing - but the base shouldn't if you want to keep it the original colour.

BIL has a Yeti mug and it looks great, he says it's just as good as his old Contigo for keeping hot but it's twice the price and too big to just toss in my bag like the West Loop so I'll be sticking with what I've got.

Iamalltheyhavenow · 07/01/2024 00:40

And another vote for Contigo from me. We have four of the Autoseal ones in different colours and incarnations, and as others have said they go in the dishwasher, and have never in 8+ years of use leaked. If I forget I have brought a hot cup of tea with me in the morning, and I get home to find it languishing in my bag, the tea is still warm after 12 hours. They are brilliant!

Moonshine5 · 07/01/2024 00:49

@alexio agree 100%

MrsW9 · 07/01/2024 00:51

I have a TOPL one which is great.

MadeForThis · 07/01/2024 00:53

Yeti is great.

wlv12 · 07/01/2024 01:00

We’ve just invested in yeti’s and they’re great.

SkalengeckOrSiegbarste · 07/01/2024 01:06

Me & my TA both use Contigo Byron cups, stay hot for ages, don't leak, easy to clean & don't have an annoying handle that doesn't fit into cup holders.

SgtJuneAckland · 07/01/2024 01:23

I had a contigo west loop for years then DH borrowed it and lost it, he replaced with the contigo luxe stainless steel so it just goes in the dishwasher, both are absolutely leak proof even after being relentless used, frequently dropped etc . I've tried so many others over the years and they don't come close, contigos keep your coffee hot for ages too

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 07/01/2024 01:24

Thermos travel tumbler. Love mine.

Saschka · 07/01/2024 01:30

Hydroflask. Obscenely expensive (mine was a birthday present), but I can literally cycle to work with it on its side in my pannier, and no leaks. Drinks still hot hours later. Basically a flask with a drinking lid. Very pretty colours too, I have a bright orange one, DM has a lovely cerulean blue.

You do have to be careful putting it together, if you don’t get it right it will leak. You get the hang of it pretty quickly though.

Contigo snap are brilliant and not expensive. I throw mine in my bag and it never leaks.

dinglyping · 07/01/2024 02:16

Contigo. I actually stopped using mine because it kept my drink too hot, and it's the only coffee cup I've ever had the confidence to just chuck in a bag.

I got one of the Circular co ones, linked to upthread, for Christmas. Early days but I thought one of its USPs is it allows drinks to cool down to drinking temp over an hour or so.

TheMadGardener · 07/01/2024 02:32

I have a Yeti Rambler and it keeps hot drinks REALLY hot for hours and hours. I use it at school where I can only snatch a few sips here and there!

pengymum · 07/01/2024 02:51

We have the Nespresso Touch in different sizes. Does not leak in bags + keeps coffee hot.
Doesn't fit in car cupholder though, if you need it for driving.

Tonight1 · 07/01/2024 04:26

I've just got a flask from wilko so nothing fancy here 😁

It doesn't leak and has a small cup head.
