I’m 100% pro Ukraine and unapologetically so. This thread is not about β€˜balanced debate’ (because in terms of pro Russia as well as Pro Ukraine there is none to be had). It’s not about swallowing propaganda, it’s about seeing evil motherfuckers for what they are.

Incidentally I’m also 100% of the view that Brexit was a massive action of collective self harm…… though I also believe the issue of Brexit is linked more to the Russian state than is often acknowledged.

To note I’m anti-Russian state, NOT anti-Russian.

Their president was a Russian speaker who now speaks only Ukrainian. I think?

And he's not alone. Since 2014 many people who used Russian as a first language have switched and now hate the country they have close personal ties to.

I was called a bot etc, avoided the "donations" crap though... its pretty disgraceful that when anyone has an alt view, such as i did and Tulip has, we get called bots... yet when you and others (on here) agreed with me over Brexit, i was pretty much applauded..

Ukraine is in the shit, it always has been, we didn't supply anti missile and anti ship missiles when they'd have made the biggest impact and now they are facing a Trump victory next November and if that happens, probably will be over run, as i said earlier (which also caused so much shit) Russia can produced dumb munitions forever more and has a huge pool of young men and women it will sacrifice.

Its very sad that posters on here have such little tolerance & believe the pro Ukraine propaganda unreservedly.

If you can find a more balanced, neutral and accurate source of information on the war please do say.

What Ukraine says seems to be mostly accurate, although there is a distorted overall picture because they rarely release bad news.

Russia's 'news' is generally regarded as less accurate than a 18 month old baby's copy of the Mona Lisa.

So if you can find somewhere with genuinely more reliable news, please, go right ahead. I think we'd all be glad of it.

Dos look like their air transport system is beginning to creak due sanctions but the radioactive cargo isn't that notable/remarkable.

The worldwide rules on dangerous goods allow a very limited amount of radioactive cargo (typically for medical use) in the hold of passenger aircraft but there are so many restrictions involved that many western airlines simply ban carriage on their aircraft.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Zelensky convened with the Pentagon's head, Austin, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Brown, in the USA.

President Zelenskyy met in the United States with the heads of US defense companies, including BAE Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and General Dynamics. He proposed creating a European defense center in Ukraine.
According to him, Ukraine is ready to produce more ammunition and military equipment and is willing to cut red tape and place orders. Kyiv also wants to invite American partners to take a stake in Ukrainian defense companies.

Putin is shifting the Russian economy onto "war tracks", and its direction is Europe, β€” Zelenskyy.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦The US and Ukraine are looking for a new war strategy for 2024.
The Americans propose to consolidate positions and build up forces, while the Ukrainians want to go on the offensive from the ground or strike deep into the rear, the New York Times writes, citing sources.
The US aims to create enough of a credible threat that Russia might consider engaging in meaningful negotiations at the end of next year or in 2025.
According to US officials, many Ukrainian leaders do not realize the instability of continued U.S. funding and the inability to provide Ukraine with the military aid it has requested, including a million rounds of ammunition.

🏫Russians restrict access to education for children in the temporarily occupied territories, β€” Amnesty International.
Ukrainian pupils in the temporarily occupied territories are being forced to learn and sing the Russian anthem in class. Those who refuse are threatened with being taken away from their parents for "re-education in Russian orphanages," according to the results of Amnesty International's research.
In addition, families from the temporarily occupied territories said that the schools that reopened after the occupation do not have enough qualified teachers, and children are left to read textbooks in class on their own. This affects the quality of education and discipline.

⚑️Binance discontinues support for the ruble in P2P transfers. Specifically, Russian users won't have access to peer-to-peer exchanges involving currency pairs such as USDT/RUB, BTC/RUB, FDUSD/RUB, BNB/RUB, ETH/RUB, BUSD/RUB, and RUB/RUB P2P.
The cessation of ruble trading support is set to occur by the conclusion of January 2024. However, Russians will still have the option to engage in cryptocurrency trading through the CommEX exchange, which is acquiring all of Binance's Russian operations. Binance has devised a procedure for transferring Russian users' assets to this new exchange.

Kyiv established a remarkable, multi-layered air defense system, in part with the aid of volunteers such as those from the Hurkit group. https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-december-11-2023

Key Takeaways:

  • The Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on December 11 that Russia will conduct voting for the 2024 presidential election in occupied Ukraine, likely in an attempt to legitimize the Russian occupation and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s rule.
  • Russian forces conducted a series of missile and drone strikes against Ukraine on the night of December 10 to 11.
  • The United Kingdom (UK) and Norway will lead a coalition aimed at providing short-term and long-term assistance to the Ukrainian Navy as the UK announced additional maritime aid provisions to Ukraine.
  • Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his intention to expand Russian naval capabilities in areas well beyond Ukraine and Eastern Europe, likely in an effort to strengthen and expand Russia’s ability to threaten the West.
  • The Russian State Duma approved amendments allowing Russian courts to fine or assign compulsory work to foreigners who are convicted of crimes in Russia, likely as part of ongoing efforts to coerce migrants into Russian military service.
  • Russian National Security Council Deputy Chairperson Dmitry Medvedev announced on December 11 that the Russian government will make β€œtargeted changes” to the Russian constitution.
  • Russian forces conducted offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, near Avdiivka, west and southwest of Donetsk City, and in western Zaporizhia Oblast on December 11 and advanced in some areas.
  • Ukrainian military officials indicated that Russian forces recently intensified mechanized offensive operations near Avdiivka.
  • A Russian law went into effect on December 11 likely aimed at preventing Russian conscripts from fleeing military service.
  • Russia continued to illegally deport children from occupied Ukraine to Russia under the guise of rehabilitation and medical programs as Kremlin-appointed Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova continued attempts to dispute this practice.

Well the mood music coming out of the US is pretty depressing. Seems to be some subtle changes in the messaging from the Biden administration. From supporting Ukraine for "as long as it takes" to supporting Ukraine for "as long as we can".

Sky News sums it up pretty well in saying it must be making Zelensky and the Ukrainian's shudder. Putin must be rubbing his hands together with glee, it's sickening.

Agreed, it's not good news..

I suspect if the UK MSM could still be bothered to provide more active, suitably pitched coverage of daily events in Ukraine, such as that in the links below, we'd soon be seeing protest marches through London.....oh hold on, I see a pig outside the window.

It looks like Biden doesn't want any sort of compromise on immigration policies because he thinks it would hurt him with the far left of this party in the upcoming election, where he is already polling very poorly. What's particularly odd about this is that the Democratic mayors of every large city in the country are begging him to do something about the flood of illegal migrants they now have to care for.

NYC is cutting billions from police and school budgets to cover the additional costs.

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/11/20/new-york-eric-adams-budget-00128222

Honestly, the best thing Biden could do is to make the deal on immigration, then step aside and let someone else run as the Democratic candidate for president. But he won't. He wants a second term that badly, even though it looks increasingly unlikely that he'll win it.
