Pornhub logo is stuck on my iPad! Help!

Hi all. Putting aside your views on porn, who is good at tech stuff? I decided to see what the fuss was about and googled Pornhub yesterday evening on my iPad. Fairly grim. But now whenever I open up Google, there’s a small pornhub logo on the tab!! I am useless at tech and don’t know how to get rid of this - and I really don’t want my teenage kids to see it. I tried ‘delete history’ on Safari in setting. Can anyone else help me? Feeling horrified with myself. (A, for looking, and b, for being tech crap). Please help, embarrassed middle aged mum here.

Actually, neither of these things are right. Somehow the Google favicon has gotten mixed up with another one, and I think you just need to clear the cache to fix the issue.

If all else fails, make sure the IPad has been backed up recently and that it has the latest software update then erase it and restore from the back up. It’s really straightforward and doesn’t take long at all.

@Ollifer I absolutely own it. I did look! Was pretty shocked though. I didn’t say I closed it down immediately- I have no problem with adults looking at porn. But I don’t really want the fact that I did, displayed on my iPad. 😫
Porn in my teens/20s consisted of a soft porn mags that really only males looked at. I’ve never really felt the urge to look before now, feelings of guilt and disinterest entwined. This tech mishap probably means I’ll never look again!

I think @uhOhOP is right - you need to clear the cache and that should reset the favicon (little icon beside website names).

You should be able to clear the cache from your browser's settings menu.

Is it an iPad? Try Settings, safari, advanced, website data, and delete google.com and or pornhub from the list. On mine I can search for it, note the number of megabytes, then go back to the full list and scroll down as it sorts in megabyte order. Click on edit and the red line and delete. It can take a while for the website data list to load.

Dunno but you could try downloading Cookie Cleaner which is a fantastic free tool which deletes the cookies your computer doesn’t need. Might help (and even if it doesn’t it will make your computer more efficient)

@Pinleypops go to settings and scroll down the list to Safari, on the RHS scroll down to the bottom of the page to Advanced and click on Website Data and click on Show All Sites, and then Edit (both highlighted blue) at the top of the page which will allow you to delete the pornhub cookies, you'll have to scroll down the list to find them or use the Search function

I don't use Safari and am unfamiliar with it, but here is listed the steps you should take to clear the cache in Safari. I hope it helps!

I wonder if it's added as a bookmark maybe? Check the bookmarks and see if it's in there!

@Canyerjustfixthis i followed your instructions, and I couldn’t find anything named Pornhub so I deleted all website data. It hasn’t helped! I’m going to follow what @uhOhOP has suggested. I’m almost in tears here, I’m so out of my depth understanding all this.

@Diamonde not looking for research, I do totally own up. My husband died of cancer in May and I was feeling sad and lonely. I wasn't quite expecting the...er...range of stuff available. I just want my Google favicon back.
