I'm up very early, stressed by the wedding business, I guess. I'll go for a walk shortly. I did watch some British TV last night - The Chelsea Detective and a bit of Ms. Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries, which is Australian if you want to be fussy about it.

Tilllly, chicken Franchese is boneless chicken breasts, pounded very thin and cooked in a white wine, lemon and butter sauce. DH breads them and fries them as step one, then makes the sauce in the same pan.

Tell him to cook an extra one - I'm on my way 😁🤣

MissConductUS · 22/10/2023 23:27

@Tilllly, DH is a fabulous cook and loves to do it. Even better, he has taught DS how to cook. Between the two of them, I hardly lift a finger in the kitchen. 😁

Hilda, the temperatures have been ranging from about 7C overnight to 15-20C in the afternoon, so it's still pretty mild. These photos show the foliage from the front garden and front yard. DH has been blowing the leaves off the driveway every weekend.

Was just reading local forecast is for up to 10cm snow on our North Shore mtns this week! I predicted early winter! 😁😁😁
Havoc is very cuddly atm. Pulled me for a cuddle saying, Awwww and stroking my hair! 🥲🥰 (Learning from mummy, I guess?)

Silkiefloof · 22/10/2023 23:45

That's lovely Havoc

Kitchen things are back and cupboards cleaned. Hopefully kitchen guys will finish tomorrow and take stuff then we can have sockets back and move back kettle, sandwich toaster, toaster and microwave.

The 3 items and 5 out of 9 sacks are out for collection. DD was due to add a couple of sacks which she has already made but can't get them from her currently.

Half term here now. DD played frisbee again today, I told her she was like an Australian now and she said they don't play frisbee.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/10/2023 03:59

@Tilllly on the last/7th episode now! 👍

merrymelodies · 23/10/2023 04:28

Hello everyone! I've been exploring MN and thought I'd have a nosey on this one... it's so cozy here in my bed. My birthday's in a week and the DC are taking me to an amusement park at night. I promised to go on at least one scary ride and I'm sort of dreading it.Blush

Tilllly · 23/10/2023 05:45

Hi @merrymelodies
The log flume is about as scary as I get 🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/10/2023 06:23

Finished the Netflix series then did some cleaning. Going to get ready for bed. Havoc is wide awake and jumping on the couch. Giving me hugs and asking for kisses in between jumps. 😵‍💫

merrymelodies · 23/10/2023 06:53

@Mumtobabyhavoc North Shore, you say?

Deathraystare · 23/10/2023 07:56

@DancesWithDucks those are lovely pics of Iceland. One place I really, really want to go!

Deathraystare · 23/10/2023 08:03

@MissConductUS

Well I read that wrong and had to read it again! Thought you said your husband was draining horses not hoses!

Welcome to @merrymelodies .

I sometimes forget on here that some of you are across the pond! Even worse if you live abroad but somewhere called Richmond or Victoria. I get well confused! (not hard!)

Deathraystare · 23/10/2023 08:07

@merriemelodies

You are braver than me. I hate heights so would not even go on a helter-skelter. I once got on a ride with some guys from work. You sat in something and it went round and round and then sort of stuck out a bit. I was screaming blue murder. It was so bad the operator was staring at me like he had never heard the like and one of the guys put my head in his jacket to diffuse the noise.....

natura · 23/10/2023 09:33

Raining here this morning so I'm pottering about with my plants.

Thinning out my radishes and feeding the lettuces... I'm brand-new to vegetable growing so every interaction feels like a Big Important Step 😂

Then I'm going to have a good clean of the house. Wet Dog Season has officially begun and it's a neverending task to get rid of muddy pawprints and have a stack of dog towels dry and ready by the door!

DancesWithDucks · 23/10/2023 09:43

Those things are so deceptive aren't they @Deathraystare ! Some of them look gentle and then you get thrown all over the place!

Iceland is just amazing. I wish I could get on a plane right now and go back, partly escaping every dayness, but mainly just because it's so damn beautiful.

do you have a greenhouse, @natura ? Plants used to die the death with me but oddly in the last few years they've started, to my deep satisfaction. We even have a 6 yo orchid now rather than a 6 week one.

natura · 23/10/2023 09:54

@DancesWithDucks no greenhouse, but a covered area outside below my upstairs neighbours' balcony. There's room for my planters and a potting table and I'm really enjoying the feeling of being outside while it's raining but staying dry!

And congratulations on your new green fingers! Orchids must be such rewarding plants once you get the hang of them... well done you!

Silkiefloof · 23/10/2023 10:01

Lovely day here, 1 of the 2 painters and decorators is here and will be able to get today done. No sign or word from kitchen guys yet and it's 10am.

Will go swimming tonight, meant to go yesterday but we were tired and busy putting kitchen back.

Echobelly · 23/10/2023 10:52

Finally dry enough for roofers to start work after scaffolding was put up last week. I think we're going to get a lot more stuff done more we've had a good look but it's all things that have been bugging us for ages and I've got money aside so it's OK.but hopefully now we can leave the water damage in a couple of rooms to dry out and then repaint

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 23/10/2023 10:57

It’s cloudy here. I’m waiting on some documents to be completed for a new temp contract.

Doing a bit of research into brother’s new business.

Tidying and decluttering soon.

Loubelle70 · 23/10/2023 11:11

Potted winter hanging baskets and planters. Pulled hip out. Listening to DGS talk endlessly about cars or cats on gumtree 😒 🤣 (hes 12 lol). Opened parcel from TU... cardigan too big, dress lovely... think might save cardie for comfies. Angry that dehumidifier is like a yoyo ..a watched pot never boils

Silkiefloof · 23/10/2023 15:06

Heard from kitchen guys, they are coming tomorrow.

Silkiefloof · 23/10/2023 15:14

The front door was knocked at earlier. I said to DD is that one of your deliveries and she said probably and looked out and said no its a woman with a hammer at the door. 🤔DH got it and it was our 75 year old female neighbour saying she was doing some fencing work on her fence.

vernatheraven · 23/10/2023 17:56

The jumpsuit I ordered has been dispatched and will come end of the month

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/10/2023 18:05

Silkie, that sounds quite random. Was she trying to warn you re noise? 😂It's like knocking to say, I'm about to vacuum...no?

Just trying to drink a cup of tea, but it's way too hot and I need to get going in about 20 minutes to get Havoc to gymnastics.

Speaking of tea... I understand there is a bit of controversy over there about tea v milk first. I'm a bit confused as I either plop a tea bag into a tea pot the pour boiling water over and steep. Then, pour tea into cup and add what you want. Lazy/quick way is tea bag into cup, then water and steep or stir and remove tea bag.

What sort of ritual do you have there? 🤔

DancesWithDucks · 23/10/2023 18:35

I hope I'm able to do fencing work with a hammer when I'm 75! :)

bizzey · 23/10/2023 19:44

Havoc my tea making is quite precise and meticulous !!

Normal cup of tea ,tea bag ...I don't do herbal stuff or anything !!

Tea bag in china mug (one of many that are for my use only !!)

2 teaspoons of sugar

Water straight off the boil upto a precise level in the mug

Stir and move tea bag around

Add a blob of milk

Stir teabag around and squeeze out when desired colour has been reached .

I love my tea !! 🤣🤣🤣
