I was off work yesterday and instead went with a friend to our twice annual I deal Home Exhibition. For anyone across the pond (you probably have similar) it is basically a lot of stalls upstairs and some furniture , home stuff downstairs. they have food stalls but chips were £4!!!!
This was the Christmas one some lots of stalls with Christmas decorations, tree hangings and rather too many stalls selling baking paraphenalia. Ok I get the bake off thing but even so!
I did not buy much but got some temporary tattoos with sharks and dinosaurs for my nephews and a jade bracelet for me. This was from one of those crystal stores where you can get stones that help your memory (should have got that one!), serenity etc etc but I reckoned I had better get jade for luck otherwise I would end up with 20 different bracelets on my wrist! ) Not saying I believe in it mind, but cannot hurt can it?
Annoyingly no 'goodie bag' in sight and the only freebie were love heart sweets. Last year we got boxes of hand sanitiser (in my drawer at work, we won't run out for years, though I work in NHS so I guess when we do we can still get some) and some cat food which I gave to a friend who knows a cat shelter owner.
People seemed to be buying loads of bakeware stuff and packets of bread mix. There were a few samples of food (mainly cheese) and booze but this was a mixed bag. A bottle of Christmas pudding rum tasted very watered down. Not spicy or alcoholic at all but some others tasted gorgeous. Very crowded. Did not manage to get a seat to have a cuppa tea so went to a cafe afterwards for a cuppa and delighted in the fact that my omelette and chips costed only slightly more than the I deal Home's chips! Anyway, I had a good time and it was nice to go out with a friend and walk a lot without getting too tired (looking forward to how many steps I did!)
