Is this outfit TOO much for a retail interview?

I have an interview next week, although I have some retail experience it's not really my work background.
And the retail job I had before I didn't really have a proper interview as such.

Is this outfit too much?

It’s an interview for a high street retailer you want to look tidy and professional, stylish isn’t important.

Keep the skirt, wear a plain shirt blouse.

Lovely outfit. Good luck. Do you have a cardigan or a blazer. Personally I’d say it’s a perfect classy interview outfit.

Sorry but not suitable for an interview or the time of year. Too tight, too revealing and too summery.

Not appropriate at all unless it’s Poundland. Looks more suited to a wander around the town on a sun holiday.

I don't think half the posters can see tbh. Who wears a knee length pencil skirt on holiday or on a night out?

I also don't want to wear something that's too tight, that will show off my mum-tum 🫣

if it is, the one near me, the staff wear a boring uniform so express themselves through their hair! There's not a natural colour between them!! 😂😂

I think your outfit is 'ok' for an interview if it's your only option, but depending what else you already have I'd change it a bit. I think it's a bit 'night out with the girls, but that's possibly your pose too?!

i think even less strappy shoes would tone it down a bit.

@AutumnWellyBootsandScarf it is the works! 🙂 and to be fair I have always wanted to dye my hair a light shade of pink... but don't particularly want to go to that extreme for an interview I probably won't even get a job offer from 😂

I think it looks great, I worked for The Works as a manager several years ago and your outfit would certainly not put me off. I'd probably wear a black cardigan and tights myself as it's a bit chilly and I don't have your fabulous figure. Good luck 🙂

@Fireisland no I can't see very well on my phone by this time of night, it happens with age (eyesight deterioration) you won't always be perfect either!!

at first the skirt looked like capris trousers 🙅🏻‍♀️ And the 'pose' didn't help either.

What I can see of your hair it looks very healthy & lovely.

For an interview at The Works, I'd tone it all down a bit. I'd want to look like a job there is my life's dream, not like I'm more suited to being a receptionist/PA/Admin in a 'shiney' office.

And for reference I kept my make up minimal, with just foundation, mascara and lipstick.

You look lovely but I’d go for something safer and boring for an interview!

You want to give the impression of being presentable to customers but also willing to muck in stacking shelves etc.

So I’d say hair tied back, a plainer long sleeved top, and can you walk in the skirt and get up stairs ok? Some pencil skirts are so difficult to move in and you want ti stride into the interview confidently rather than sidling in !

I think it’d be a shame to die your hair pink- it’s a beautiful colour.

You and the outfit look lovely. Maybe for an interview a slightly plainer top or a blazer over the top. Your personality will shine through in any case and that’s the main thing.
