Not exactly a mystery so perhaps not relevant to this thread.... but the story of the 5yr old who gave birth all those years ago absolutely blows my mind. I cannot believe it is true. Her name is Lina Medina if you want to Google it.

I think she had precocious puberty
But yes absolutely horrific poor child.

LadyEloise1 · 10/09/2023 09:38

Oh my @MotherOfUnicorns4 - did I read that correctly - that your brother murdered 4 people ?

Lwrenagain · 10/09/2023 09:44

MotherOfUnicorns4 · 10/09/2023 09:30

Mine is slightly different. The killer is locked away for his crimes, but it’s one of his victims that sit with me the most. My brother murdered four people, one of them being an amazing woman who was like a grandma to me. No one knows her background story, she had no family, was very private. But what I do know is that she was held in a concentration camp in ww2. She had the number stamp and a finger missing. Her life started off unimaginably tragic, then she died horrifically after being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It breaks my heart that she was forgotten very quickly and her stories died with her. Breaks my heart that I’ll never know the mystery of her life.

I'm so sorry to read that 😔 much love to you and I hope that your grandma figure is now resting peacefully ❤

I'm someone without faith and not long ago after a horrible loss I cried to my DP how I wished there was heaven. He said to me, that its for me to dream of and take comfort in regardless of what's out there and no matter your faith or lack of, I hope you find comfort that you're able to imagine her in comfort eternally away from the traumas of her life and she knows she was loved and meant the world to you. 💐💐💐

I'm also sorry you lost your brother, whatever his story is, you have lost him also and whilst I'm glad you're safe from him and the public are, it's still a horrific situation you're in.

(I have had a family member murdered by a serial killer and I don't really remember much of that time, but I've read up on the man who killed him and this man's family had passed away before he started his spree, but it sounds as though had they been alive it would have broken their hearts 💔)

What a lovely kind post @Lwrenagain Flowers

Yes its all so very sad, and I wonder that too - Steven’s father did not seem like a nice man either stopping Steven from having counselling.

Steven was a hero saving little Timmy ❤️

I read Timmy also died tragically young .

MotherOfUnicorns4 · 10/09/2023 10:54

@LadyEloise1 yes, you read that correctly. Four people a very long time ago. He is well known to the public.
@Lwrenagain thank you for your lovely words. I have found some peace in it all. I was only a young girl when it all happened, but the bomb that it caused and some extra family traumas along the way have made my PTSD very complex. I find a lot of comfort in nature and the hope I’ll see my lost loved ones again some day. Another family member was murdered that day, my grandad, who I adored. I managed to forgive my brother a long time ago. Even though I will never understand the horrific things he did to his victims I can see the path that brought him there. Our mother on the other hand is an evil woman who I will never forgive. Maybe a story I will tell when she dies.
Im sorry your family have suffered their own tragedy at the hand of a serial killer. It’s hard having the information so close to hand. I find I trigger myself sometimes by reading up on my brothers spree. 💐

LadyEloise1 · 10/09/2023 11:22

Oh my @MotherOfUnicorns4, you sound like a lovely empathetic person. How awful that some of those you deeply loved were killed by your brother. Sending you love and admiration.

I'm so sorry. I think I know who your brother is. How horrendous for you and your family.

So sorry to those personally affected by events on this thread.

Sucette · 11/09/2023 16:13

I wondered if Lee Boxell from Sutton going missing in 88 and Kevin Hicks going missing from Croydon in 86 were linked as Sutton and Croydon are not far from each other. Kevin Hicks popped out to buy eggs for a cookery exam and Lee was on his way to a football match

Lee Boxell was 15 when last seen on Sutton High Street in London on 10 September 1988.

I echo quite a few mentioned here but I have a few others to mention. Two disappearances - Brian Shaffer a medical student in Ohio with friends in a bar/club drinking who disappeared without trace - no sighting on the exit CCTV.

Another Brandon Swanson, who left home at night in Minnesota and ran out of fuel. He called police and sounded like he was hiding from someone but was never found despite his brother being there minutes later.

Bouledeneige · 11/09/2023 20:49

Another - Amy Lynn Bradley - a US 23 year old who disappeared from a Carribbean cruise ship where she was holidaying with her family. There have been rumours of sightings but no real clues.

Her dissappearance haunts me honestly i think it would have been preferable if she went overboard.

RhannionKPSS · 12/09/2023 10:56

I think it’s most likely that Amy Lynn did fall overboard.

A mystery that was close to home for us at one time, is the disappearance of Delarey McWilliam Smith and Anita Swaak , last seen on Naxos in 1993. not a trace has been found of either of them.

MaudGone · 12/09/2023 22:20

When I was little, I was freaked out by reading about Bible John. I couldn't understand how he remained uncaught when the police investigation was so massive. The current police position seems to be that the murders were unconnected, so who knows?

MaudGone · 12/09/2023 22:21

The Julia Wallace murder in Liverpool was also very mysterious...

AcesBaseballbat · 12/09/2023 22:48

Another Brandon Swanson, who left home at night in Minnesota and ran out of fuel. He called police and sounded like he was hiding from someone but was never found despite his brother being there minutes later.

Brandon Swanson didn't run out of fuel, he crashed his car after being seen drinking at two different parties. The other people who were at the party said he didn't seem drunk, but he got extremely lost in an area he knew well and ran his car off the road. He likely was at least somewhat intoxicated.

He called his parents, not the police. It was his parents who arrived, not his brother, and they didn't arrive "minutes later" since Swanson was 40 miles away from where he thought he was. He told them he could see lights in the distance which he believed to be a specific town and he asked his parents to come meet him in the car park of a business in that town. It was that car park they went to, and obviously he wasn't there. They didn't find his car until late afternoon, and that's when they found out that he'd crashed his car 40 miles away from where he thought he was so his attempt to walk to what he thought was the town was obviously not going to work.

His parents were on the phone with him during his attempt to walk to the nearest town and he recounted having to cross fences, which indicates he was trespassing on public property. Have never heard anything about it sounding like he was hiding from someone, I think you must have got confused with a different case.

It's an awful tragedy but he was drunk and disoriented at 2am on an unfamiliar road, walking across extremely rough terrain next to a large river. There's no way that scenario would end well.

I agree that Amy Lynn probably fell overboard. The window in which she vanished is so tiny, I don't see how a trafficker could have entered her cabin in the early hours of the morning (or even known that she'd only be alone during that tiny window of time) and kidnapped her without her family noticing, and smuggled her off the ship.

Bouledeneige · 13/09/2023 00:01

AcesBaseballbat my mistake. I meant Brandon Lawson.

ellebelli · 13/09/2023 14:31

@AcesBaseballbat I find your posts very informative and interesting.
I hope if this thread does get its own section you will be a regular 😀

ShivRoysPoloNeck · 13/09/2023 15:47

Ah Colin. Used to see him and her at Inside Out at The Arches in Glasgow. He was very, very good looking and lovely to chat to.

Couldn't believe it when I read about this years ago.

Sorry that was in reply to the post by @DZbornak

kagerou · 13/09/2023 20:40

@MotherOfUnicorns4 so sorry to hear about your experiences.

To try to find out more about the lady you cared for maybe you could try to contact Yad Vashem (https://www.yadvashem.org/)

They try to discover as much information about every victim and survivor of the holocaust and they may hold information about her or her family. Even they don't have anything currently, any information you have on her and her experience would be useful for their historical records and may lead to new discoveries about her.

Meifly · 13/09/2023 21:15

For me the case that scares me the most is that of Diao Aiqing

She was an introverted computer science student at a good university in China. Not known for going out, no close friendships or anything much outside of her studies and as she came from a rural area she didn't know anyone at her university particularly well. Basically just someone who kept herself to herself and worked hard.

She was killed brutally, I don't even want to list what was done to her but it was horrendous and parts of her body have never been found. It was impossible to even tell how she died.

There has never been any possible motive put forward officially, never any suspect and basically no evidence.

It honestly breaks my heart and I just can't comprehend how someone could do that to a human being once but seemingly never again. Most murders happen either because it is personal and the killer feels 'justified' , its to do with the killier wanting something (money etc), it's part of a spree or serial crime, or its happened due to the killer's mental illness.

This is a case that doesn't seem to fit with any of those things as she had no close contacts around her, was from a poor family, there were never any similar crimes reported, and it seemed so organised.

I lived in China for years and a friend of mine who studied at Nanjing said their were certain rumours but I sadly don't think it will ever be solved.

whynotwhatknot · 14/09/2023 13:32

i dont know her name but someone i knew of said hed murdered someone in the 60s when he was drunk-my friend wentt to the police, there was a case he knew all the deatails but because he denied saying it the police never charged him and had lost all evidence by then-that was 20 years ago

i really hope whoever she is her family get closure one day

Lwrenagain · 15/09/2023 05:32

Since these threads have opened up my Google search history will now make me look like a serial killer 😐
