Paulette Gebara Farah has haunted me a bit. She was a disabled 4 year old in Mexico who disappeared from her bedroom and was found dead 9 days later.

In her bedroom.

The official story is that she turned herself around in bed and fell down between the mattress and the end of the bed, asphyxiating. But how was she undiscovered for so long? The room was searched, including with dogs. A relative slept in that room, making the bed every day, without discovering the child's body. It beggars belief. She was only discovered because of the smell. Poor thing. :(

The missing 411

All those people who disappear in American national parks, thousands of them. Of course some will be died of exposure/starvation etc. But some of the cases are just baffling! And freaky af.

Cigarettesandbooze · 06/09/2023 20:18

Are there any interesting 411 websites? Intrigued.

@unvillage , I hadn't heard of Paulette before, so I've just read the Wikipedia page. How sad, poor wee soul. ☹️

Just place marking.

Cheesymonster · 07/09/2023 08:11

I believe De’Orr Kunz was another small boy who went missing whilst on a camping trip with his family. Very sad case.

What frustrates me here is cases where people know what happened eg Claudia Lawrence plus a few others but no one is saying anything

Yes, it is sad. The Police have said that they believe some of those interviewed have lied to them and / or are not coming forwards as to do so would complicate their lives (to paraphrase).

Not exactly a mystery so perhaps not relevant to this thread.... but the story of the 5yr old who gave birth all those years ago absolutely blows my mind. I cannot believe it is true. Her name is Lina Medina if you want to Google it.

Hallmark1234 · 07/09/2023 10:53

@toadasoda As a child I remember hearing a story on the radio about a 10 year who'd given birth. This was in 1967 when I was also 10. I clearly remember saying to my mother that means I could have a child. Years later, rembering this, I googled youngest mother to have given birth and read about Lina. It does indeed blow your mind. From memory I think she had another child some 30 years later!

Adrien McNaughton was 5 when he disappeared on a fishing trip in Ontario. His story is covered in the first of 5 seasons of a podcast, Someone Knows Something.

Bornafreak · 08/09/2023 10:58

Allan Bryant who went missing nearly 10 years ago and I know his parents are still appealing for help. Must be terrible not knowing what has happened and not being able to get closure and also for many others who disappeared without a trace.

The mystery there is how nobody was charged over what was a very clear incident of child sexual abuse. It beggars belief.

Yes the child could have been checked for DNA later in life when the science was available and the father identified that way. My guess is they knew and didn't want to cause any drama. Also the sad thing is she clearly has a serious hormonal disorder and if she were born today especially in a wealthy country that would have been rectified. Imagine ovulating at 4! My mind can't process it

RamsesTheChub · 08/09/2023 15:54

Does anyone know if Hollie Greig ever got 'justice'?

(I added the 's only because it was heavily disputed, but that poor girl's case broke my heart, true or otherwise).

LadyEloise1 · 08/09/2023 18:02

I wondered too why there was no DNA test in the Lina Medina case.
That poor wee girl.
Just 5years old !
Sad

Also what happened in the Hollie Greig case ?
I googled but found little information. I thought there would be a Wikipedia page but there isn't or I couldn't find it.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 08/09/2023 18:34

I just googled Hollie Grieg and I really wish I hadn't. The first site to come up was vile - even without visiting the page I saw such awful things that were written about her and her mother.

Yes, it is awful, apologies I should probably have put a warning against my post with hindsight.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 08/09/2023 23:02

@RamsesTheChub I think I am very naïve. I am shocked that that site can stay up - especially at the top of the search results. As if what has happened to that young girl isn't bad enough.

DivingForLove · 08/09/2023 23:30

The Hollie Grieg case is super weird - lots of accusations that it was invented by conspiracy theorists 😬

Yes indeed. It's a sickening case either way tbh, but they said the same about Jimmy Savile...

VictoriaVenkman · 09/09/2023 10:21

Slightly off topic but if you have Netflix you may be interested in "Missing: Dead or Alive?" It follows the Missing Persons Unit in the Richland County Sherriff's Department in South Carolina. These are real cases and it is fascinating how there are so many twists and turns in the investigations.

MotherOfUnicorns4 · 10/09/2023 09:30

Mine is slightly different. The killer is locked away for his crimes, but it’s one of his victims that sit with me the most. My brother murdered four people, one of them being an amazing woman who was like a grandma to me. No one knows her background story, she had no family, was very private. But what I do know is that she was held in a concentration camp in ww2. She had the number stamp and a finger missing. Her life started off unimaginably tragic, then she died horrifically after being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It breaks my heart that she was forgotten very quickly and her stories died with her. Breaks my heart that I’ll never know the mystery of her life.
