Or just can't get for whatever reason.

Currently really fancying the ww chicken & wedges, it was in a nice tomato sauce but I also really miss the slimming world tomato and bean soup that came in a pouch.

I realise these are both diet foods and tomato based, maybe I should just go and make a tomato salad 😂

@meatbaseddessert That sounds like Tooty Frooties. I think they changed the recipe to remove gelatine, which I'm all in favour of, but that definitely changed the texture. In my memory they were bigger and the colours were different too. I expect I'm right about the colours.

That's them. I remember them being quite big.

Another one I miss is the Cadbury Nuts About Caramel bar - the caramel bar with hazelnuts in the middle.

Stomacharmeleon · 24/08/2023 16:25

Heinz used to do vegetable salad in a tin which my Nan used to buy me in the 80's/ 90's and I used to have with a jacket potato.
I miss both the tin and my Nan :(

Me too, I'm sure it was in a shiny red wrapped! I used to love them.

Does any body remember a Golden Cup? It used to be the posh version of a Cadbury's caramel. My dm would get one and we would share it, the ultimate treat. It felt so luxurious like Charlie eating the chocolate bar😂

AperfectMess · 24/08/2023 17:01

from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory*

ChessieFL · 24/08/2023 17:18

Sorry Carla, looked from the links that they were still available.

M&S large individual (American style) pecan tarts c.1995

Snowpaw · 24/08/2023 19:10

Chicken and mushroom pot noodles with the "textured protein" pieces in it. Now the only chunks in it is the sweetcorn! Not the same.

Afonavon · 24/08/2023 19:20

I miss:

Heinz Space Invaders, and Haunted House (tinned spaghetti that I lived on for months as a ND child).

Lean Cuisine canelonni frozen ready meal.

Phileas Phog Californian Corn Chips

Quatro canned tropical pop

Five Pints dried milk that I used to eat (I know , I know)

Linda McCartney Ploughman’s Pie

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 24/08/2023 20:12

Lean Cuisine! I’d forgotten that. I loved the chicken with wild rice.

A27009D56 · 24/08/2023 21:41

In the early eighties you could buy a Pot Casserole, it was like a Pot Noodle (same tub) and you just added water to it, mixed and then voila a lovely casserole….honestly it tasted a lot nicer than it sounds.
I’m not sure if they were widely available because my then boyfriends father “aquired” them from a well known sauce factory where he worked!

newnamethanks · 24/08/2023 21:44

The Lean Cuisine cannelloni were great. Reminiscing about them just last week.

Gaahhh! @OnTheRunWithMannyMontana and @TheNameNerd thats them! I haven't seen them for decades!

Not sold in NZ sadly but will be instructing our Xmas visitors to load up their bags!

Are they still as good as the 1980s versions?

Yup, they are really really good!

OnedayIwillfeelfree · 25/08/2023 03:38

Wotsit Waffles. They were square grid shaped wotsits about 2-3 cm across. There would be huge clumps of wotsit powder caught in many of the grid holes!

RenegadeMasterx · 25/08/2023 05:08

Frosties and Mars delights. I'd sell my soul for one of those 😭

Sorry Carla, looked from the links that they were still available.

That's all right. It's just that I have spent far too much time online trying to get the Lutti ones. Clarnico disappeared ages ago I think.

I even emailed Lutti themselves who said that they were still making them but British suppliers say they have been discontinued.

More Brexshit I think.

I haven't read the full thread - sorry! But these conversations instantly remind me of my late Dad who ALWAYS went on and on about Frys 5 centres when this topic came up. Making me quite nostalgic for a 5 centre rant tbh 😂

Chichz · 26/08/2023 18:14

Random but when I was at college, Greggs used to do this amazing sandwich with turkey, ham, emmental cheese and ceasar dressing - I feel like it was called a New Yorker? It was delicious! Possibly discontinued for health reasons...

Yeah it was called the New Yorker oval bite. It was delicious.

WallabyWay · 26/08/2023 19:20

Does anyone else remember the Shoe People bars in the '90s? They were like a Freddo but textured like a Wispa? They were so good.

I remember those in the 80s. Sometimes the 5 centres Fondant wouldn't match up to the 5 segments of chocolate, so you'd get 2 flavours in each segment.

Tesco - French set yoghurts.
