Discontinued food you miss

Or just can't get for whatever reason.

Currently really fancying the ww chicken & wedges, it was in a nice tomato sauce but I also really miss the slimming world tomato and bean soup that came in a pouch.

I realise these are both diet foods and tomato based, maybe I should just go and make a tomato salad 😂

Ice Magic. Surely there’s still a market for chocolate sauce that sets hard when it hits the ice cream?

Can anyone remember tesco used to do a stir in pasta sauce but it was like a mouse? In the chiller cabinet. It was blooming lovely.

They're definitely available in spain, and Amazon https://www.amazon.es/Papadelta-Original-GREFUSA-Bolsa-Pack/dp/B07PHZQXVJ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=papa+delta+grefusa&qid=1692634613&sprefix=grefusa+papa%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-3

Ah. Disappointingly they don’t look quite right. They look more like Smith’s Square crisps (but triangular!). The potatoes triangles I mean looked like this:

M&S prawn laksa soup. It was delicious. Still sulking over that one. Also Quirks which were a bit like a peppermint smartie. So good.

lollipoprainbow · 21/08/2023 19:58

M and s also did a delicious prawn curry years ago.

ChessieFL · 21/08/2023 20:01

M&S are really bad for only doing things for a short time. I can’t count the number of times I’ve bought something, enjoyed it, and then never seen it again.

I still mourn the loss of two M&S sandwiches from about 20 years ago - I still look to see if they’ve brought them back! One was called The Big Beef and Onion and it was roast beef on onion bread. The other was Tuna Melt, which was tuna mayo with chopped up red pepper, then the bread was topped with soft cheesy stuff. They were divine.

Other things:
Supermousse
Fuse bars
Tropical flavour fruit pastilles (a limited edition years ago)
Funny Feet ice creams from years ago (the pink ones)
Inspirations chocolates

Oh yes, Topic (a hazelnut in every bite)

Or as the 70s joke went - squirrel shit.

I think I was 8, I had one without any hazelnuts in it. After a couple of bites, I showed my sister, then had tiny nibbles, convinced that they'd all sunk to the bottom of the bar.

None of the adults in my family would believe me and I got told to shut up and stop making up stories! By then, I'd eaten the evidence.

Still, T knows it was true and she still remembers it!

Ooh I used to love those.

Alas, I've never seen those when I've been in Spain. Sorry 😔

Cheese moments
Ribena and Lucozade before they wrecked them with artificial sweeteners
A Cadbury Dairy Milk bar I had in the 90's that was bottom half milk chocolate and top half white chocolate. I can't remember what it was called or find any trace of it online but they only made it for a short while.

You get Top Deck in B&M, it's imported from Australia I think

Melissa90 · 21/08/2023 22:55

I can't remember what they were called but I remember yogurt's from the late 80 ,early 90s and the pot had feet and a face? Like monsters or something. They were amazing x

The tuna melt was bloody lovely. I must have eaten hundreds. They did a similar sandwich last year so I bought one and it was vile. Nothing like the original.

From the 90s - I think it was Batchelors - did a packet of garlic rice.
Put it in the microwave with 3/4 pt of water and a large dollop of butter on medium for 20 mins and you could fell a Frenchman at 30 feet with your garlic breath. Could have lived off that stuff.

It was Bachelors and it was SO good!

RinklyRomaine · 22/08/2023 00:33

Drifters. My favourite snack chocolate ever, quietly taken from us.

Sainsbury’s used to do a walnut and Gorgonzola filled pasta which was amazing and a staple after work tea.

Yes Brannigan's, mignons morceaux, potato
Puffs and triangles. Lots of snacks.

SheilaFentiman · 22/08/2023 00:34

Boots used to do a ham, cream cheese and pineapple sandwich which was ace.

Cheese moments, loved those

SheilaFentiman · 22/08/2023 00:37

And Yy to the BK mushroom double swiss

ABeesWings · 22/08/2023 01:27

I miss Lovells MilkyLunch bars
Brannigans crisps
Spira
Walkers beef & onion crisps
fruit polos.
Citrus polos

Tessisme · 22/08/2023 01:50

There used to be Quorn fillets with mushrooms in a white wine sauce or in a red wine sauce. They were both really lovely. Handy when I couldn't be arsed cooking.

Batchelors Beanfeast lentil - can't remember the exact name - maybe lentil bolognese. I used to add potatoes to it, like a stew, and it was delicious. Much nicer than the ordinary bolognese one.

Habreathmint · 22/08/2023 03:36

Birds Eye Stir Your Senses South Indian Curry was heaven. They also did chicken breast in a bag with different sauces. They still do the fish ones. M&S used to do courgette fritters and ham and cheese crepes which were just delicious.
