I think 2024 is going to be interesting with the GE essentially running alongside the presidential campaign with trump playing up. It’s easy to separate the ideologies when the truth is they’re very similar to the tories. It’s going to be tougher for people to separate their support for the tories from any condemnation or ridicule about what’s happening the other side of the Atlantic.

Im just wondering whether we could pay them all off - here's your cheque, off you trot.
Got to be cheaper than keeping them?

DH has been to an elderly farming client this morning. Known him over 20 years and he's the model for the tory farmer stereotype. The sort that if they have lost his vote you wonder who is left to vote for them. He told DH he is voting Labour next time as he's never seen such a bunch of self serving; dishonest incompetents and the sooner they are gone the better.

Well that's very encouraging.

I think this current bunch think they've distanced themselves from the z trump comparisons by ousting Johnson.

They don't seem to realise they've rid us of the personality connections and landed us with the right wing connections.

Rishi is going to be the first PM in a decade not to attend the UN general assembly. Is there anything he will go to?

L1ttledrummergirl · 26/08/2023 01:13

He's a twat, out of his depth and hopelessly incapable. He's not going anywhere that competent, respected people will tell him as it is.

He is a coward who is not fit for purpose, and if he had any self respect would have fucked off years ago.

IClaudine · 26/08/2023 07:24

You're right littledrummergirl. He would show himself up at the UN. He only got to be PM through a series of extraordinary events, not through talent and hard work. And he knows it.

IClaudine · 26/08/2023 07:28

Oh, I just read that Oliver Dowden andJames Cleverly, are going. How wonderful to be represented by two capable politicians who haven't been promoted beyond their pay grade at all.🙄

Who in the current cabinet hasn't been promoted well above their abilities?

Gove perhaps? Is there anyone else?

BIossomtoes · 26/08/2023 07:35

Wallace is good at Defence. Obviously that’s why he’s stepping down.

There is nothing good I can write about Dowden. Cleverly obviously debased himself time and again for Johnson. But I'm will say he seems wildly enthusiastic about his role at the Foreign Office and that probably the best we can hope for at the moment.

"Ready for most expensive election ever?

The government is preparing to raise spending limits by 80%, giving parties £15m more to spend on campaigning

The new figure will take inflation into account

Comes as Tories try to make inroads into Labour's 20-point poll lead"

I see cost of living doesn't impact donors.

Quite what they are desperate to spend the money on God only knows.
I suppose Bot farms don't come cheap.

itsgettingweird · 26/08/2023 15:18

I suppose Bot farms don't come cheap.

Well they don't get their mommies worth from what I've seen online.

All their bits can do is use semantics to try and muddy the water or C and P to a Labour government 50 years ago.

They can't even argue what this current lot have done well and will continue to do well.

In fact - they spend an inordinate amount of time trying to pretend they haven't been in power for the past 14 years!

itsgettingweird · 26/08/2023 15:19

Monies

Odd autocorrect there 🫣🤣

Won't this drive inflation?

"In fact - they spend an inordinate amount of time trying to pretend they haven't been in power for the past 14 years!"

Isn't that the truth!
Same old faces playing musical Cabinet chairs.

Inflation is only driven up by public sector pay, everything else is irrelevant.

jgw1 · 26/08/2023 15:35

I think you’ve confused party donations with public sector pay rises there.

I am often confused.

It's the right type of inflation.

Oh, the kind that makes the rich obscenely rich. Got you.

NEW: 78 days later Nadine Dorries has finally sent her resignation letter to Rishi Sunak. And what a letter: “Since you took office a year ago, the country is run by a zombie Parliament where nothing meaningful has happened. What exactly has been done or have you achieved?”

Oddly she isn't far wrong with the part that is quoted.
