Nah if Sunak was still Chancellor he would be spending billions on someone the Prime Minister's mate met down the pub to pay them to build imaginary schools, like he did with the imaginary PPE.

Have we reach the stage where the government are so bad and know they have no chance in an election that they can’t even be arsed to make it look like they care how bad a school collapsing on children would make them look?

They are Tories, I don’t expect them to actually care about state school kids potentially dying but you’d think they might be self aware enough to know it would make them look bad.

I think they’ve completely given up.

It’s completely wrong to suggest Sunak was responsible for slashing the school buildings funds. It must have been that other Rishi Sunak that was Chancellor guess.

Odd. Sunak doesn't seem to have provided a reason why it wasn't his responsibility.

There are 15000 schools in England, if 50 a year are rebuilt or refurbished then on average each school we done once every 300 years.
And he seems to be saying that this was an amazing achievement of his time as Chancellor.

I thought I was good at maths but I can't figure out how 50 is more than 50. Unless he meant 50 to the power of bullshit, then it works.

Is it because he is trying so hard to think what facial expression a normal person would have in that situation and he is concentrating so hard on that, that he looks odd?

It's only lunchtime and already we've had 3 new Tory scandals today:

• Sunak refused to fund school repairs properly while Chancellor, despite being warned of the dangers of not doing so.
• Gavin Williamson has been found to be a bully.
• Chris Pincher lost his suspension appeal.

@jgw1 its because he follows formulas for success. He doesn’t have an original thought in his head that would have got him where he is today otherwise.

It’s also why he’s not the hero he wants to be given the current state of the country. It’s never been covered in a text book. If I’m being kind, a large part of that is because liz and kwazi went so far off piste he hasn’t got a clue what to do now. No initiative.
