I hope she times the publication of the tell-all book she's threatening nicely for the General Election. If she's going to tell all the Boris supporters not to vote for Sunak it should be interesting.

Dorries is due out a couple of days before the Conservative Party conference!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/08/2023 12:55

Presenter on LBC said earlier that Dorries has published her letter in the press but that the relevant government office (I forget which one) have said that they haven't received it yet. So she still hasn't actually resigned.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/08/2023 12:59

Blimey.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/08/2023 13:04

In my shallower moments it's funny. But it really isn't funny having such unprofessional, badly behaved leaders who clearly lack good judgement.

Dorries' behaviour is outrageous and we should all be outraged. The fact that so many people, myself included have outrage fatigue, as another poster - sorry I can't be bothered to scroll back to check who Blush - is really concerning isn't it? She's an embarrassment isn't she?

I think if I were in that office I would tell her that we were working on the basis that by publishing the letter addressed to them, they were taking that as due service, and she is therefore no longer an MP.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/08/2023 13:15

Beeb now reporting that she has "started" the process of resigning. Not sure how relevant that is?

It was me. I have no outrage left at all. I’m just growing increasingly impatient with waiting for them to call it a day and bugger off, I’m completely sick of the whole boiling of them.

Anyone paying attention to the trade deal negotiations with India at the moment. Issues about visas, immigration and National Insurance contributions.

The EU is also doing a trade deal at the moment.

What Dorries letter does to is serve to remind those people who were outraged last year by Johnson and who unlike us might have continued not thinking so much about politics, of just how awful the Tories are.

Oh for goodness sake. Well at least she and her daughters won't lose their salary any time soon then.

Ah daily mail column was due then and she had nothing else interesting to say to try and stay relevant.

cakeorwine · 27/08/2023 14:31

Do they need to post an actual letter or would an email with an attachment do?

Maybe they can upload it to a special Conservative party website for resigning MPs?

Cornettoninja · 27/08/2023 14:31

…also, could anyone point me in the direction of these ‘attacks’ she was going on about?

Very true.

I did lobe the "outrage fatigue" comment. It's just bang on the money.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/08/2023 15:29

Another fun fact I picked up on LBC yesterday, the tories have moved on from the spectre of 'but Jeremy Corbyn' and are now trying to turn people off Labour with 'but Liz Truss". That's right, they're planning on using their worst ever PM to spook people into voting for them. Either the Times or Telegraph, sorry can't remember which, ran an article detailing how Labour have exactly the same ideas as Truss and will do what she did if they get in.

Piggywaspushed · 27/08/2023 15:37

On other threads, it seems to me it's but eco yobs

It is as though they think polluting the environment is a good thing.

Piggywaspushed · 27/08/2023 16:25

It does seem that way. The dirt Shapps appears keen to dish on the Labour candidate for mid Beds is that he supports Greenpeace . Dreadful.

Shapps may be confused by someone with a social consience.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/08/2023 08:37

Judging by the announcements over the past 24hrs, looks like this week might be crime and sentencing week. Presumably no news on when they are going to clear the backlog in the courts.

itsgettingweird · 28/08/2023 08:44

Well listening to Braverman on GMB a few moments ago I'd just go with "no clue."

She couldn't (wouldn't) answer any questions.

Just kept talking and not listening to questions.

It was definitely all about her and how wonderful she is apparently

Nauseating. Every news channel has her on. Really what I don't need on a Bank Holiday monday!

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/08/2023 08:52

I believe in a fair and free society where justice is on the side of the victims, not the criminals.

From Sunak’s Twitter thread on crime.

I have some questions, Rishi. Does this apply to corruption or just certain types of crime?

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/08/2023 08:53

Does it apply to fraud? Or if the criminal happens to be in the HoL?
