I’ve name changed for this because it’s outing but I have bipolar 1 and I honestly think Britney does too, she seems to show a lot of symptoms of likely mania/hypomania to me and at times in the past she has also moved and spoken slowly/robotically as if she is on antipsychotics and/or heavy tranquillisers etc. Lithium made me feel cognitively and physically slowed down as well. Having said that I wouldn’t be surprised if she also has a personality disorder and/or is taking drugs on top of the bipolar. Even for someone with bipolar disorder her behaviour seems very erratic at times although everyone is different and to me this definitely could all fit under bipolar disorder.

I just feel so so so sorry for her, I would absolutely hate it if every detail of what I had said and thought and how I’d dressed etc. when I was manic was documented for the world to see like that (I do remember wearing my pants outside my trousers at one stage in some sort of homage to superheroes because I felt like I was a superhero or something). I feel like we are watching her have a complete mental breakdown on camera and it’s heartbreaking.

I really wish she could get herself back on track somehow, I identify with her a lot as I also had a child around the same time as her at a similar age to her, and had my first psychotic and manic episode right after my child was born and in the same year as Britney. And I also feel I’ve never been quite right or quite got myself back since then, although my struggles since then (I’ve had a whole string of difficulties since) have been completely different to hers obviously. Watching Britney struggle to get back to “normal” and it seemingly being so far out of reach for her is super depressing to me as it just rams home for me how I might never really recover from my illness either. She was so super talented and seemed so on top of the world before she had her breakdown, I feel like if Britney can’t get herself back together then who am I to think I could?! I realise I am probably overidentifying with her though.

I also think that at this point Britney should just publicly announce whatever her medical issues are, I doubt they can be worse than all the rumours going around anyway. And if she’s not on drugs etc. but just hugely manic then I’d like to think that most people in this day and age would have some empathy for someone with something like bipolar disorder who has been under this much stress. And ok let’s say she isn’t manic and she is just on drugs again I feel like people in this day and age have a lot of empathy for people who struggle with drug addiction due to previous trauma. I can’t think of anything that could come out about her that could make her look worse than she already does anyway if you know what I mean. But I feel like she is still stuck in the early 2000s when it was absolutely taboo to admit to having a major mental health diagnosis like that. I’m not naively saying the stigma of major mental health diagnoses doesn’t exist anymore, but I do think that one group of people who are “allowed” to have illnesses like bipolar disorder these days is celebrity pop stars…

I feel so sad for Britney. She is clearly very unwell. Wouldn't surprise me if her husband has used her for his gain, he has 3 million followers on his Instagram!

Apparently she is now getting divorced. I admit when I saw her very first video I thought it wouldn't end well. A very young woman dressed up as a schoolgirl, behaving in a hyper sexualised way? I wonder who thought of that? She seems to be either mentally ill or has no idea how to live a happy life without constant attention. I suspect that both scenarios are the same, and sadly the world of popular music is littered with people who are generally very unwell.

According to tmz (so not sure how true) Sam is going to contest the prenup, and is threatening to leak very embarrassing information about Brit if she doesn't agree. If that's true he was just in it for what he could get from the start. Taking advantage of a vulnerable woman, nice.

She doesn't have any family around her, her boys are in Hawaii, she is estranged from her mum and sister. Who knows? Maybe Sam even encouraged the distance and arguments between Brit and her family to distance her from them

Yes it's something about this isn't it. She was highly sexualised from a very young age and for years and years without knowing any different and to an extreme. She cannot snap out of that mindset and seems intent on offering her body to all on instagram, mostly in quite a sexual way.

There was a video of her in a shower which I think was removed in the end and she tried to upload it again.

Drugs in America is different to drugs here I think and they seem to have quite a big problem which I hope has not got into the grasp of Britney.

I listened to a podcast the other day and they were fearing for her life.

I am just sad and angry that (allegedly) another mediocre man is trying to use Britney for fame and money.
I really wish she had some good friends around her to protect her.

Regarding her captions, a southern woman on tiktok said Britney writes in classic Louisiana dialect and it all makes sense to them, it just sounds odd to everyone else.

I think she has some issues still definitely, really feel for her. Just read that her and Sam have now separated, and the pole dancing video has gone. I do feel for her kids too, must be painful for them to see all that

and now her soon to be ex husband is allegedly threatening to go public with embarrassing stories. I hope for once the media show some integrity and refuse to entertain him but i doubt it there is money to be made

Exactly! A conservatorship is put in place by a judge after the presentation of a lot of evidence that that must show that the person in question is completely incapable of managing their own affairs. It is most often used for elderly people in the grip of dementia or similar, it's not just an excuse to control someone rich. Britney's health and mental state must have been in a very serious condition for the conservatorship to have been approved in the first place and stayed that way so it was never repealed in 13 years. It seemed clear to me at the time of Free Britney that the only reasons it was repealed were a) public pressure and b) her father's abuse of his position. It wasn't because Britney was well enough to manage things herself. No, someone else (in fact a group of people, including her lawyers), were put in charge. And a fat lot of good they're doing atm.

Then the whole im going to remain a virgin til married stuff combined with very sexy video (slave 4 u etc) it was very much the Lolita image that was crafted for her.

her mum later wrote a book that said britney was having sex from 14 (parents knew) and doing drugs from also v early on (again with their knowledge) so aside from the atrocity of your own mother writing a tell all book, it was clearly a very well crafted image put on her by her team

i recall that being said, whether one believes it or not is a different question. It’s a way of label execs saying oh no we had no idea this was going to be so scandalous it’s was the artists decision and she thought it would be fun whereas the sexy school girl is practically a porn archetype- maybe I’m a cynic

I'm sure I read somewhere that supposedly it was. The original video was supposed to have her interacting with cartoon figures but she thought it was too childish. Can't remember where though, so I could be wrong.

The Khardashians as problematic as they are seem to be completely in control of their narrative. As a family/group and as individuals. The are a team. Love them or hate them.

I get what you mean. It's cringey to watch and she looks kind of manic with the smudged makeup and messy hair. But I also wonder if it's a middle finger to everyone and a refusal to be what is expected, She had such a shit time being perfect Britney Spears back when she was younger and has no desire to be that again. And even if she is abit mentally unstable (and who wouldn't be in her situation) apart from her relationship with her sons she's hurting no one. If she wants to dance on Instagram with no clothes on then so what, Hopefully her sons will realise when there no longer embarrassed teenagers that there mums behaviour wasn't because she couldn't give a toss about there feelings and was in fact because she had a nervous breakdown caused by the media and perhaps her own family. I have a lot of sympathy for her.

Britney was made to look the sweet , innocent girl next door and Christina Agulaira was the wild one.
And there was nothing out of the ordinary in that rolling stone cover and she was 19 , I’ve seen way worse at that time, 90s were not so innocent , people have completely forgotten Aerosmith crazy video , Liv and Alicia were both 16 at that time.
