It definitely was in the states, the Rolling Stones cover she did definitely caught attention and she got some backlash for it. I recall seeing interviews when britney was older and got much heavier backlash for being too sexual saying well when I came out with baby one more time you said I was too sexy then too, and then her saying she can’t win, I think it was that Diane sawyer interview. I’ve seen others when she had some backlash for wearing crop tops and her saying how is it fair that backstreet boys make a lot of gestures with their mics but a crop top is scandalous.

christina definitely got backlash too and she leant into that with dirty. But both of them traded on a very similar image with their debut albums, Britneys image was a well crafted innocent sexiness. Even her voice was manipulated to be more sexy which some say has destroyed her natural singing voice

I definitely remember controversy about Baby One More Time and the Rolling Stones cover, but I would have been a very young 14 so it went over my head to a certain extent.

Cristina was definitely painted as the "bad one" but there was still plenty of discussion about the schoolgirl thing.

Britney is being Britney I think people should leave her in peace. She been controlled for so long she needs to learn about herself and about other people. You can clearly see she's lived a sheltered life and sees nothing wrong with what's she's doing. Now she's on her own with no control she can do what she wants.

I thought the whole point of a pre-nup was to protect the assets of the wealthier spouse regardless of how long they stay married and when they divorce?!? I doubt he will be entitled to anything of hers.

The pre nup is that her money earned before the marriage is protected, then Sam gets 1mil for every 2 years of marriage, capped at 10 million for sticking it out for 15 years. So technically he shouldn’t get any money from this. The house was put into some business agreement under both names.

You can dress her up and make her look shiny but you can't take away who she is or where she comes from.

I look at Britney for who she is not who I want her to be or the manufactured version of Britney when she started her career. She's a human being like the rest of us.

People do horrifically upsetting stuff when manic and maybe she did something he couldn't tolerate. Hypersexualisation and extreme risk taking can be features so its easy to see why a spouse might not be able to tolerate it

It's come out today that she was apparently getting to film her naked and that she was caught with a male staff member cheating.

I don't know I'm in two minds. Maybe it was genuine to begin with, maybe as a pp has sayed somewhere while she was medicated etc he fell in love with that person, but since having more freedom and her behaviour has changed he thought I can't hack this 🤷‍♀️

My close family member is an alcoholic, so not quite the same but she has similar behaviours and I can't handle it, it's too much drama all the time, never taking responsibility for her actions, I've got my own shit to deal with

Severe mental illness causes suffering to the individual and people closest to them - maybe best not to judge this man too quickly esp if patient lacks insight and refuses help/treatment

I think a lot of people would feel sorry for the partner in that scenario. There isn't really an easy answer

You have put into words exactly how I feel. I’m not someone who follows or gets over invested in celebrities lives but with Britney I see an abused little girl in a woman’s body I just want to give her a big hug and protect her against all the vultures out there.
