The planets being ruined by over consumption if is not broke no need to replace it.

I agree. The number of people who rip out bathrooms and kitchens when there is absolutely no need, just because they simply must look up-to-date is mind blowing. There is nothing at all wrong with those bathrooms - I actually find the bedrooms more disturbing, but I could live with them.

I would actually far rather live in a "dated" house than a modern soulless one.

ParisP · 03/08/2023 20:38

amazing house!

PowerToTheGnomes · 03/08/2023 20:41

I love it , very 007, it looks lovely and no grey cladding in sight
You can't buy a coloured suit for love or money now- I tried

StrawberryWasp · 03/08/2023 20:41

I love it.
I'd keep the bathrooms but update the kitchen.

What kind of kitchen would go with the rest of the vibe of the house?

I recall wanting a white kitchen with red handles in the 1980s?

afishcalledbreanda · 03/08/2023 20:42

That's a classy house: clearly an architect designed one-off and beautifully maintained. That central stone stack makes me think of Frank Lloyd Wright. Someone spent a fortune on it and had the nerve not to tinker and extend and muck it around and ruin it. It's expensive for the area, but that's because it's special.

Lovely to see others who don't believe you need to rip everything out and 'modernise' every few years in order to keep up with the Joneses and all the other sheeple who bankrupt themselves to stay 'current'. Dare to be original.

£550k!
Crikey - what a steal! That plot is amazing, as is the house itself but it gives me ‘The Shining’ vibes…

Yes! I knew it reminded me of something… I’m looking for those twins lol 😂

StrawberryWasp · 03/08/2023 20:45

It looks full of space and light.

I love the stone clad staircase it feels like it might be in the Hart to Hart house!

It's just down the road from me, I had already looked at it! I love the bathrooms, and the master bedroom is my childhood dream bedroom, but not my style now. I really love retro stuff, and would keep those bathrooms.

I grew up not very far away too, in Bryncoch, and I know that house!

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/08/2023 20:46

The large bathroom looks like the bathroom we had in the house we rented 20 years ago except everything was marble and the bath was round, brown with glitter, gold taps, twin sink. It also had a pink bathroom with mosaic tiles and a green bathroom with wall paper cut out stuck onto the walls with the cut outs bleeding onto the tiles. The downstairs loo was plum and pink. We loved it. If this house came onto the market near us, we would do our darnedest to buy it and preserve as much of the look as possible. 😍

Or the woman crawling out of the bathtub ....

WelshNerd · 03/08/2023 20:53

Love it. I'd wander around in a kimono drinking martinis all day.

Swearwolf · 03/08/2023 20:54

I love this whole house! 550k would get you a very basic semi around here...

catwithflowers · 03/08/2023 20:56

The bedroom furniture reminds me of my Sindy wardrobe and dressing table which I absolutely loved aged 6. 😂. Couldn't live with the real life version now though!

JulesJules · 03/08/2023 20:58

It's not my taste at all, but I sort of love it. I think as PPs have said, it reminds me of my grandparents house. They had a pink bathroom with grey tiles and pale grey carpet, a lot of stone, wood and glass and a gorgeous veranda with amazing views. The kitchen was beige and brown by 'Hygena'.

Doggymummar · 03/08/2023 21:02

It's fabulous you would get a flat for that where I live. Stunning

FloopyZebra · 03/08/2023 21:03

The house is local to me too, I love it!

👋To any ex Dwryfelin pupils!

It's all very 1980s.

Definitely 1970's.

New Avengers, Tales of The Unexpected and Tony Hart.

OwlBabiesAreCute · 03/08/2023 21:08

OMG I thought I was going to hate it but it's lovely...views are fab and it's so interesting!

Wrong location (for me) but epic house!

Coronationstation · 03/08/2023 21:08

It doesn’t seem that cheap to me (and I live somewhere with really high house prices!). It’s hideous and the only kind thing to do would be to burn it to the ground and start again!

Yarsvi · 03/08/2023 21:09

"Ah, come in Mr Bond, I've been expecting you. Martini?"
This house is 100% superb. I could move in tomorrow with my fluffy pussy and cocktail cabinet and think I'd gone to heaven. Plus you could make a fortune renting it out as a TV and film location!

VerityUnreasonble · 03/08/2023 21:10

£550k. No bloody toilet roll holder.

MysteryBelle · 03/08/2023 21:15

Piece o’ junk.

harriethoyle · 03/08/2023 21:17

Please bear in mind that this could well be someone's beloved family home when saying how hideous you think it is. I found the insta of my family home, sold as a peak 80s doer upper after DM died and it was truly hurtful to read their taste and home being slagged off by the new owners for likes.

sheworemellowyellow · 03/08/2023 21:17

The sad thing is, given how built up the surrounding area is, someone will buy this property, build a second house on the land and sell both. It’s an oasis of green and good quality design and build surrounded by packed streets.
