I love the bathrooms .

listlovers · 03/08/2023 19:49

I’m with @CharliesAngles - definite Shining vibes here. Shudder.

Unusual house, look at the bathrooms!
Itsaloadofbollocks · 03/08/2023 19:50

Awful, shudders I rip the lot out and have the whole house completely redesigned.

FearTheWankingDead · 03/08/2023 19:50

I have said this before on threads about homes for sale but I will say it again - don’t call someone’s home they love (maybe only moved out of due to illness or loss) hideous etc. It’s really rude!

Occitane · 03/08/2023 19:24

It's just down the road from me, I had already looked at it! I love the bathrooms, and the master bedroom is my childhood dream bedroom, but not my style now. I really love retro stuff, and would keep those bathrooms.

What's it like round there, Occitane?

I'm looking to head in that direction soon.

SweetPotatoAndPeanutStew · 03/08/2023 19:51

OMG this gives me flashbacks to vivid dreams

Dombasle · 03/08/2023 19:53

It's ten minutes away from Pontrhydyfen Viaduct and the Richard Burton Trail which is a beautiful area for walking.

MorrisZapp · 03/08/2023 19:54

I love it! Reminds me of the Mount Rushmore house in North by Northwest. Lifelong dream.

LittleMonks11 · 03/08/2023 19:54

Amazing and architecturally significant. I would leave it all in (but spruce it up) and make it a cool 70s house. Get some more 70s artefacts and design pieces. Go with it.

DCINightingale · 03/08/2023 19:55

Absolutely love it, what a great house!

sarahh96 · 03/08/2023 19:56

I absolutely love it. Wouldn't change a thing!

Artgalleryloner · 03/08/2023 19:57

I love it!

OhcantthInkofaname · 03/08/2023 19:57

I'd see remodeling in my future. But I love the size of the rooms.

Karwomannghia · 03/08/2023 19:57

So much space!
Ive always wanted a coloured suite but they’re surprisingly hard to get. More pastelly but I’d live with burgundy and navy!

I was about to say the same, I grew up in Skewen, Derry y Felin school just down the road

highfidelity · 03/08/2023 19:58

Oh my goodness, this is making me feel all nostalgic for my childhood home.

The master bathroom's bath is identical to one my parents had, as are the master bedroom's built in wardrobes and dressing table, all of which was already in situ when my parents bought their house in the late 80s. Weirdly, the brown cabinets in the utility room are identical to the ones our utility room which my parents didn't remove either.

While the decor is not my taste, I love the interior. Strip it back and it's the perfect mid-century base to show off my very lovely Danish furniture.

cakencookieobssessed · 03/08/2023 19:59

I love the shape and size of all the rooms but the decor is ugly as hell.

backoffbuster · 03/08/2023 19:47

It’s not cheap! It’s £550k. Yes it’s a lot
of house and garden, but it needs a tonne of work and it’s in Neath.

It doesn't need a tonne of work. You could live there without changing anything. The idea that interiors always have to be swanky and up to date is so unnecessary, and why a lot people impoverish themselves. If a house is in good condition and liveable, why the rush and the need to modernise everything? Why does everything have to be new and shiny? Modern interiors also date really quickly anyway. All these grey floor boards and black window panes are going to look so passe in just a few years.

Batalax · 03/08/2023 20:03

It’s bloody hideous. Sorry.

Maireas · 03/08/2023 20:03

Indeed, @guvguv . Plus I think this is far more interesting and colourful than the current battleship grey trend.

SweetPotatoAndPeanutStew · 03/08/2023 20:04

I actually bloody love it

MadeInChorley · 03/08/2023 20:05

That’s an architect designed home. Very early 1980’s (at a guess) with almost all original features intact, which is amazing. Some mid-century aficionados would treasure those original features and would style it to look like something out a design magazine. Original features are not just inglenook fireplaces and leaded glass, but oxblood whirlpool baths with matching bidets.

Beaverbridge · 03/08/2023 20:05

Deffo something about it. Rooms look huge. I like it.

GlitteringFeeling · 03/08/2023 20:06

It looks so cared for - I’m getting a warm feeling from it.

I would keep some of the coloured suites - I think you could make it look really cool and retro

MysteryBelle · 03/08/2023 20:07

I’m sorry, the whole thing is hideous and needs to be torn down, exorcised, and start from scratch. The grounds and drive are the only redeeming features.
