I wouldn’t change a thing.

Me either!!

FloopyZebra · 03/08/2023 21:21

@sheworemellowyellow

It's tucked away and it's not that built up around it.
Very unlikely to get planning permission for another property so hopefully it will remain as one property on the site.

The bedroom and bathroom* are basically exactly the same as a Sindy doll house I had in about 1985.

*I might have made the bath or sink after watching someone make a DIY one on Blue Peter! (I'm imaging the ones on rm are real rather than Blue peter knock offs! 🤣)

@Fizbosshoes I don't know, it's amazing what you can do with sticky back plastic!!

Guineapigwoes · 03/08/2023 21:30

Love it! I’d keep the bathrooms - except the v tiles they aren’t very 60s

VinEtFromage · 03/08/2023 21:30

catandcoffee · 03/08/2023 19:42

That burgundy bath looks a great size for a relaxing bathtime.

@catandcoffee I was thinking more 'pool
psrty!'

Aposterhasnoname · 03/08/2023 21:34

OMG I love it. Sign me up.

Sausagedogmum · 03/08/2023 21:35

The only appealing things about that house is the gardens.

GlowGoldenRays · 03/08/2023 21:35

Very old and very expensive looking for its time.
It’s nice to see, and I’m pleased people aren’t ridiculing someone else’s house.

tsmainsqueeze · 03/08/2023 21:39

mrsm43s · 03/08/2023 19:46

I absolutely bloody love it.

I mean, I shouldn't, because it's terribly dated, and really not my style today, but looking at that just transports me straight back to my childhood, and gives me a really warm and fuzzy glow.

I'd just have to keep it as is, and live happily in a bubble of believing I was still a child with no worries or responsibilities. Everything about that house just reminds me of my happy childhood :)

Strangely this is how i feel about it😊

RosesAndHellebores · 03/08/2023 21:41

I think it's awesome. Fabulous sized rooms too and generally well thought out. It would be £1.5m in Surrey.

BlessYourBlackCottonSocksOnTheRider · 03/08/2023 21:52

I’ve now seen the video and I’m even more in love with it. That blue bathroom is crying out for a fashion photoshoot.

midsomermurderess · 03/08/2023 21:54

I like a 1970s house, but some of that is a bit too 1970s for me. The cupboards round the beds are the worst feature for me. It could be great with some refurb. Interesting to hear that coloured bathroom suits are coming back.

GellerYeller · 03/08/2023 21:55

Apologies for the insta-speak, but it looks to me like that was someone’s ‘forever home’ and they’ve been ‘living their best life’ in it😊. So well preserved and in a lovely spot.
I hope it goes to someone who spends their days wafting through it joyfully, occasionally sitting down to an episode of Dallas or The Good Life after dishing up a slab of Black Forest gateau on those brown rimmed plates we all had.
Thanks to the posters who made me miss my Sindy bedroom furniture!

heartsinvisiblefury · 03/08/2023 22:04

It's amazing - and I wouldn't change a thing

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/08/2023 22:11

LittleMonks11 · 03/08/2023 19:54

Amazing and architecturally significant. I would leave it all in (but spruce it up) and make it a cool 70s house. Get some more 70s artefacts and design pieces. Go with it.

I agree, I love most of it. I would get rid of a couple of bits like the horrible bathroom windows. Not sure about the bedroom wardrobes either with the twee mouldings.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/08/2023 22:12

It looks so well-maintained! To the point of looking almost like a second home, barely lived in.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/08/2023 22:17

IncompleteSenten · 03/08/2023 20:22

I'd gut the bathrooms and redo everything.
I'd also get rid of the fake stone bits.

No, I love the stone bits! They look like the type of interior design that every smaller house was trying to copy and do themselves cheaply and badly, in the late 60s and 70s. This looks like it was well done, like it shouldn't be touched as it's proper interior design for that period.

Charliecatpaws · 03/08/2023 22:24

FloopyZebra · 03/08/2023 21:03

The house is local to me too, I love it!

👋To any ex Dwryfelin pupils!

Ex Dwr y Felin pupil here - hello!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/08/2023 22:28

If you can promise me it's got soft water (those bathrooms would be hell to clean where I live ) then I'm in. Grin

watcherintherye · 03/08/2023 22:29

I think it’s an absolute gem of a house! I would have to remove all the pelmets, as I can’t abide them, and the kitchen and bedroom cupboards need a more 70s look (maybe wood in the bedrooms?) but aside from a few decor tweaks, I don’t think I would fundamentally change it. It would be like restoring a work of art!

FloopyZebra · 03/08/2023 22:31

The water here is very soft! 😁

I love it , very 007, it looks lovely and no grey cladding in sight
You can't buy a coloured suit for love or money now- I tried

You can buy pink, because I see it in the window of a local bathroom shop.

The problem with the burgundy and dark blue baths is that even in a soft water area the water leaves a greyish mark, so you have to buff them to a shine after every use.

WaitingForSunnyDays · 03/08/2023 22:38

Flashbacks to my grandparents' house. Same era, much smaller, but same type of decor. I swear they had the same wardrobes over the bed as well. Nostalgia.

catandcoffee · 03/08/2023 22:41

VinEtFromage · 03/08/2023 21:30

@catandcoffee I was thinking more 'pool
psrty!'

Suppose it depends on your size 😂

FrogFairy · 03/08/2023 22:58

I love it, it has been lovingly cared for.

The decor reminds me of projects in a magazine my dad collected in the 70s, Marshall Cavendish Golden Homes.
