I bloody love it too.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 03/08/2023 20:14

I love the layout, love the stairs and the stone pillar and the outside balcony bit. Love the room sizes and the windows. I do quite like the blue bathroom but the brown/red ones are awful.

my grandparents had the exact same fitted cream wardrobes, dressing table and mirror. It’s quality stuff.

dapsnotplimsolls · 03/08/2023 20:15

The Shining vibes for me too.

BringOnSummerHolidays · 03/08/2023 20:15

I love it too. It’s an amazing house, very loved and retro. Of course it won’t be to most of our tastes because it belongs to an old couple. I can see how well long after this is. And I love the view and garden.

MadeInChorley · 03/08/2023 20:16

Friends of ours bought a house like that in Nottingham and set about restoring it. Was an amazing space and had that feeling of incorporating the outside inside (like that outdoor room in the Neath house). It was also on several levels and mid-levels and had stone feature walls. They retained the kitchen and bathrooms, cleverly replacing old dribbly showers with power showers and painting it, installing new heating and wiring. Lots of fun sourcing vintage furniture and nick knacks. Very sadly they had to get rid of the sauna room (kit was all too knackered and ££££ to replace)

Calling the bathrooms Art deco is a bit if a stretch.

You mean 'art decor'! And what the heck is a 'spar' bath? 😆

It's all absolutely hideous (and not remotely Art Deco)...except the garden.

My parents fitted a burgundy suite like that in the mid 1980s (or perhaps a little earlier?) and I hated it even then.

I appreciate these colours/styles are popular again and I'm a maximalist who loves colour, but that would all be coming out if I was the buyer.

ImNotReallySpartacus · 03/08/2023 20:16

I think I would have to burn it down, sprinkle the ground with salt and leave it for seven years before attempting to rebuild on it.

Jazzybean · 03/08/2023 20:18

This reminds me so much of my grandparents old house! Exactly the same style. (They moved about 20 years ago and their house now is much more modern which is a bit of a shame really 😂)

I LOVE the mental zig zag tiling.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 03/08/2023 20:19

I love it! If I buy that house I can make all my 1980s childhood dreams about my future adult life come true!

Zampa · 03/08/2023 20:20

I hope the eventual buyer treasures those original features. The veranda and communal areas are wonderful.

IncompleteSenten · 03/08/2023 20:22

I'd gut the bathrooms and redo everything.
I'd also get rid of the fake stone bits.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2023 20:25

It's fabulous. Looks as if it's had a lot of money and time spent on it over the years, and has been well loved.

I'm half sure that I had a bedroom set for my Sindy dolls that was very similar to the one here.

If you gut the bathrooms, I'll come and collect them.

FannyFifer · 03/08/2023 20:27

I kinda love this.

geoger · 03/08/2023 20:27

I love it! Especially the bathrooms - love the colours. The wardrobes are fab too.
The kitchen is really odd - it doesn’t suit the 1970s vibe of the house

TokyoSushi · 03/08/2023 20:28

It's a bit Playboy mansion!

Maireas · 03/08/2023 20:31

It's a bit Playboy mansion!

What?! Have you seen pictures of those interiors? Shudder.

Phineyj · 03/08/2023 20:32

@Fizbosshoes I came on the thread to say "Whoa! Someone made a real life version of my 1980s Sindy house!" Grin

Ohyoudodoyou · 03/08/2023 20:33

Love that house. The maroon 'V' tiled bathroom reminds me of clubbing in the '80's.
I love the fireplace and wooden ceilings.

Mindymomo · 03/08/2023 20:34

The main bathroom looks like marble, I wouldn’t be replacing that. All the bathrooms look in very good condition. It’s good value but probably quite expensive for that area in Wales.

itsgettingweird · 03/08/2023 20:34

Love it!!!

Also it's only £550k (which when your from south is very cheap!!!)

The only thing I can't get my head round is if it's ground floor and then go down to other bedrooms?

Also why the master is on level with kitchen and utility a different level?

Easily changed and I'd do that purely because I find it odd!

SidekickSylvia · 03/08/2023 20:35

So much of that house reminds me of my childhood home, my parents even had the raised platform for their bed, carpeted stairs leading to the bath etc. It's taken me straight back to the late 70's/early 80's. I can practically see my mum floating around in her flares and cheesecloth blouse, flicking back her Farrah Fawcett hair.

It looks like the only bit that's been updated. You can tell what the original kitchen probably looked like from the utility room.

BlessYourBlackCottonSocksOnTheRider · 03/08/2023 20:35

I love it. I’m drawn to the v tiles in the bathrooms and I love the utility room. I’d probably take the cupboard doors of the kitchen but all in all I think it’s beautiful. I hope whoever buys it understands it and doesn’t trash it.
