Hilda, the canal makes me think Amsterdam. 😁
Miss, quite a spiderweb... are you leaving it?
Silkie, how sid it go with meeting for DS? Kitchen almost done?

Continuing my painting project here re-painting white walls and painting white over coloured walls. It's an all white transformation. Once flooring is replaced next week I'll think about adding colour again next year. Was hoping to sleep in a bit. Havoc has gymnastics later and then we'll do errands, home, lunch and paint while Havoc (hopefully) naps.

Lemonsandlemonade · 11/09/2023 18:56

Have a lovely time in Amsterdam. I really like it there. I loved Anne Frank house ( my DH took me before DS) I always wanted to go since reading her diary at age 9.

Had a very mature discussion about his disability with my DN at weekend.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 12/09/2023 00:16

Amsterdam looks beautiful. 🌷

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 12/09/2023 00:16

Oops forgot my news. Today I planted pansies in my garden 🏵️

Silkierabbit · 12/09/2023 00:28

Thanks Hilda Hope you are having a nice time.

Thanks Havoc Hope painting going well. Had 2 meetings re DS and got a bit of info.

Pansies are lovely Mallards

DH went to his piano lesson. Floof was picked up by DD who told me it's Floors fault that rabbit now gets cross when he is picked up. Off to do wordle.

Silkierabbit · 12/09/2023 00:29

Just had a midnight snack of 2 figs, a tiny bit of camembert, a few cashew nuts and a bit of the strawberry jam. Floof was very jealous.

mathanxiety · 12/09/2023 05:23

My not quite midnight snack was a brownie baked yesterday evening by DD4.

It rained all day here.

HelenaJustina · 12/09/2023 06:24

Think we are going to have rain a lot of today too math but more seasonable temperatures on the other side.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/09/2023 07:36

Painted this evening; had a bath; and just Finished my "snack" of cottage cheese with fresh pineapple. I'd take figs & camembert, or a brownie though. 😊

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 12/09/2023 07:59

I couldn't sleep so I stayed up all night working through Friday's to-do list that didn't get done when it should have.

Silkierabbit · 12/09/2023 10:51

Brownie sounds lovely Math

I am currently trying to not midnight snack but the fridge and kitchen food is currently just outside my bedroom so very tempting. 😂

The weather has cooled a little here which is good.

Mallards I am the world's worst sleeper since the Tamoxifen so often doing things like that. I used to chat on here to Prok at night and people in other parts of the world. I don't mind too much. A few times I take an anti-histamine as that always puts me to sleep but then I can be knocked out for 12 hours and have meetings for DS.

Man has just been in to repair bathroom leak, it was seriously exciting for Floof, kitchen work and men and bathroom work and men. It was a dilemma where to put himself.

DH has said he is going to a 2 day piano event in October.

Silkierabbit · 12/09/2023 10:53

Well done on the painting Havoc

Just about to have toast, butter and the lovely strawberry jam with my tea.

HelenaJustina · 12/09/2023 19:45

Mallards In my old job I would go back into work once the DC were in bed and work 9pm to midnight to get things done. No interruptions and the phone didn’t ring, it was bliss! New job and better work life balance means this is no longer necessary, but when there are days at work when my bottom is barely on my chair for 5 seconds together, I do think of it slightly wistfully!

I’ve cleaned the bathrooms and may do some work on my assignment this evening.

MissConductUS · 12/09/2023 21:20

I would love to have a midnight snack, but I'm dieting.

It still feels like August here.

My weather station went a bit haywire yesterday. It told me that the temperature on the deck was 129F when I checked it over the internet. I called DS to make sure the house wasn't on fire. Of course, he didn't answer. So I texted him, and the house was fine. The weather station is about 15 years old, so I've ordered a new, nicer one, which I've wanted to do for years. It should be here tomorrow.

I saw this lovely view of the Hudson River today from the 5th floor of a building I was visiting.

It's rained all day here too, I wouldn't normally mind as it's my work from home day but the internet went down so i ended up back in the office. Mildly infuriating!

HelenaJustina · 13/09/2023 20:33

Beautiful view Miss!

whyyy321 · 14/09/2023 16:05

Hello! I've lurked for a while and have loved reading some of your threads, I find them so relaxing.

Working from home today, baby is in nursery and the dog walker has been. Just contemplating that I need to get moving and go do the pick up. DH is making a curry for later. I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning- we have started a nice little routine of taking the dog out together after nursery drop off and stopping for a coffee. A little time together once a week, feels like such a treat!

MissConductUS · 14/09/2023 16:33

Welcome, @whyyy321, and thanks for sharing your calming baby, dog, and DH news. My DH does the cooking, too, but I don't recall that he's ever made a curry. And thanks for delurking!

Are you in the UK? We seem to be getting more geographically diverse joiners recently.

whyyy321 · 14/09/2023 17:45

Hi! I'm NE Scotland, so not as geographically exciting as I could be!

I have to say I particularly love hearing how calm the days of those with older kids sound- ours just turned 1 :) love hearing the fun things you do with them, and imagining my relationship with him as he grows!

MissConductUS · 14/09/2023 21:14

NE Scotland is pretty exciting to me, @whyyy321.

DD has just texted from uni that her laptop isn't charging. She's taken it to a computer repair shop and been told it needs a new motherboard. I'm going to let DH sort this one. So it isn't always calm days with the older kids.

Welcome why Do you have puffins or other wildlife up there?

Love wildlife and on the cancer thread someone just put on wombat pictures from Tasmania which I was very happy to see.

Another day of kitchen being done here, fridge and dishwasher are now integrated and units all painted pale blue. Ceiling lights are now done. They said they may finish tomorrow though will believe it when/if I see that. It looks a few days more work to me. But still we are getting close.

Had a chinese meal from a chinese I thought had closed down. Had pork dumplings and banana fritters. I love banana fritters and its quite hard to get them around here.

Had meeting re DS with cahms and specialist teacher and LA finally confirmed that DS does have a school place at the school but they haven't funded the person I asked for. But cahms are offering someone once a week.

Nice view MissC

DD had a maths A level exam today. Just a mock.

mathanxiety · 15/09/2023 04:03

On the subject of not calm days with older kids - I'm hitting the hay early tonight so I can get up at 5 to schlep DD4 and her friend to the Greyhound bus station. They are visiting their other friend in Minneapolis for the weekend, returning on Monday.. DD is all packed apart from a few items like her toothbrush.

whyyy321 · 15/09/2023 09:20

No puffins that I know of near me @Silkierabbit but we do get dolphins sometimes! It's a recent move for us (DH is from here but we were living in London before) so I am loving getting to know the area. Next on the list is to try some cold water swimming!

Baby in nursery after a family dog walk, now we've snuck off for our weekly coffee date. I do like these slightly autumnal mornings- I'm an autumn/winter person at heart.

Silkierabbit · 15/09/2023 09:47

Dolphins must be lovely why We used to live in/by London for 15 years or so, lots of fun in your 20s but am now preferring more space and countryside.

Good luck with the 5am start Math Its definitely not me with the calm older ones. 😂Although DS is closely resembling a 24/7 sloth. DD is the opposite non-stop energy and activities. And about 5 parcels a day arriving from Vinted. This morning she said DH hadn't given her her monthly allowance. I said he told me he had. Then I had well in that case I must have spent far more than I thought. I said judging by the 5 parcels a day I would imagine so. They she checked yes you are right he did, oops I am spending too much. I said your room must be full of junk now and she said yes you know when you empty all your cupboards onto the floor so you can tidy (no but ..) and then you get tired as soon as you've done that and you just leave it plus the parcels. 😂I think best not to look. She has exams atm.

Kitchen work going on today. They did say before would be finished today but doubt it will. Though fridge and dishwasher integrated yesterday.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/09/2023 15:40

Just a quick Hello to everyone. 🙂
Took two days off painting to do other tasks and have a good outing with Havoc at Science World. Met up with a friend yesterday who I hadn't seen in for a couple of months.
Good luck with kitchen, Silkie! Show pics when done!!!!
Havoc is still asleep, so I'm about to get up and start prepping for my painting day.
