I have a question that has bothered me all morning. If the earth is a disc then why is it nighttime in Australia right now?

If they're just on a different part of the same disc surely they would see the same sun as I do?

I have found this which appears to be the most popular solution offered by flat earthers but it still makes no sense. It would only work if the earth was a dome, not flat, or else we would all just see a circling ball of light all the time.

NB: I may be procrastinating because I have a lawn to mow and a drain to unblock.

My mum is an anti vaxer and genuinely believes the drug companies paid off the government's/scientists to hide the dangers of vaccines and cover up that they are causing autism.

I am a medical scientist I have tried to explain how scientific literature works/ how many people need to be 'paid off' but it just falls on deaf ears.

Oh she also believes the cure for cancer and alzheimers disease is sitting in some vault in a pharmaceutical company. I have tried to explain if a drug company did have these drugs they would patent them and sell them because that's how drug companies make money.

The Earth was like a beach ball and then one of the aliens took it too far in a game of beach rugby and we deflated, so now we are a disc. They're now playing Solar System Swingball with a lightbulb, and that's how it's night and day.

Err you can the curve from the top of Everest, and from a plane. That is unless of course Everest and planes don't really exist. If you have a telescope you can see that other planets are round. I feel like I'm explaining why water is wet...
Reminds me of an episode of The Goodies (classic 70's comedy for those too young) in which they take a job in a lighthouse and literally everything is ROUND, a radio, a chess board, a TV and it starts driving them bonkers til Bill has a breakdown screaming " it's round, round, round, round, everything is bloody round, I can't stand it!"

Makes me a bit 🧐 how people who probably have good jobs and families etc. can believe in things that are so bonkers. Like …. Just how and why. When u have been taught most of ur life that the planets are round… seen photographic and scientific evidence. Why would u suddenly believe some crackpot theory. Mine is baffled.

Also, people who believe this have clearly never worked in the public sector- if they had they would know it’s like herding geese and a conspiracy this big would definitely get out. My colleague spouts that weather is controlled by government agreements, not gulf streams, and pilots spray the skies with chemicals to poison us. I pointed out it would poison them, too. Apparently, they have vaccine against it.

Christians against dinosaurs are the FB group. I joined because of a thread on here and had to leave as it was so bonkers. There is also a group on FB about the contrails planes leave and, again, I had to leave it as it made me so angry. I'm much happier joining groups relating to animals doing bonkers things or extreme roller coasting 😀
