Is this still a tea time favourite or left in the 1970s?

Did you have to? I want it now!! I’d add a gammon steak or some slices of ham to it for a really indulgent, occasional supper.

Have never had it.

I like chips, I like eggs. I just don’t see that they go together.

Dipping crispy chips into rich runny egg yolks is brilliant. It just is.

I thought this was going to be about Shirley Valentine, though that was 'chips and egg' I think.
I'd like it with home made chips, though I haven't eaten it in more years than I remember.

re-brand it as Spanish peasant delicacy, jamon huevos fritas, and watch it become trendy again.

Try Chips Mayai (basically a chip omelette) which is a very popular Tanzanian dish.

We have it occasionally, usually in winter maybe once or twice a year and with the addition of sausage and beans. Always amazing!

I think if I had it with gammon steak I'd be forced to add some vegetables. Somehow sausages don't demand this 😆

My parents used to go to our local auction house on fine art viewing days. They had a cafe next door. They used to go and have egg and chips after the viewing. I would go with them sometimes. I prefer omelette and chips. A nice memory revisited thanks to your thread Op.

I do like it on Boxing Day, with slices of the Xmas ham, remnants of the cheeseboard and chutneys, but let's not get shit twisted- chips, egg and bread and butter doesn't need anything else.

Absolutely love egg and chips, although tend to cook it for lunch rather than dinner. I feel bad if my dinner doesn't involve vegetables or salad.

Normally a Saturday night dinner as I'm using up the left over ham from packed lunches 🤣.

Chips in the air fryer, fried eggs done in fry light. A nice coating of salt and vinegar on the chips.
