Bleach - Where do you actually use bleach clean around the house?

Exactly that really. Where do you actually use bleach to clean around the house?

I see on my bleach bottle instructions it suggests bleach can be used to clean toilets, kitchen/bathroom drains, sinks, floors, and work surfaces.

Does anyone actually use bleach for those other bits around the house, or do you mainly just use bleach for the toilet?

I use it on tiles, worktops, sinks, floors, showers, toilets, washing machine, the refrigerator, door handles.

GeriatricMumma · 06/07/2023 21:01

Bleaching whites, soaking sponges / dishcloths, in the sinks and toilets

ActDottie · 06/07/2023 21:04

Just the loo and shower, our shower is a nightmare and has lots of gaps that mould grows in and the only way I can get rid of it is by using bleach.

Floors

Just as I thought then, mainly just down the loo. I forgot that I also use it for the shower tray. It's really good for shifting grime around the shower tray with the loo roll trick. They should really add that suggestion to the instructions ha.

I use it everywhere including inside mugs.
Bleach is supposed to be used with cold water. The reason that it gives fumes is because it's being used in hot water.

Spanielsarepainless · 06/07/2023 21:15

Lavatories, plugholes and did mugs yesterday. Noticed a stain in vinyl floor so may have a go at that tomorrow.

Goldencup · 06/07/2023 21:15

Toliet roll trick ?

Spanielsarepainless · 06/07/2023 21:15

Oh and bleaching dishcloths.

ThisIsACoolUserName · 06/07/2023 21:17

Just the toilet.
I've switched out all other cleaning products (sprays, polish, window cleaner, air freshener) for my own homemade mix.
But I just love that bleachy, white froth in the toilet when you've scrubbed with bleach, and I can't find anything as effective to replace it with 😕

FofB · 06/07/2023 21:17

Husband's Chef's Tops get bleached on a monthly basis.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 06/07/2023 21:18

Loo and the kitchen sink

ThisIsACoolUserName · 06/07/2023 21:19

Oh and I also scrubbed my white pleather trainers and white birkenstocks with bleach today and they've come up like new.

Hedjwitch · 06/07/2023 21:30

Rarely use it but if I do it will be bins and loo. Bicarb of soda cleans inside of mugs better.

Use maybe 2 bottles a year.

Leftbutcameback · 06/07/2023 21:30

Spray bleach in my white composite sink. Plus an occasional soaking. Also shower grout.

HeidiUpTheMountain · 06/07/2023 21:32

Loos, occasional squirt in the kitchen plug hole if it gets whiffy, and bleaching my dishcloths when they get stained.

NancyJoan · 06/07/2023 21:33

Just the loo. Have trashed a few items of clothing trying to use it elsewhere.

OutsidInInsideOut · 06/07/2023 21:35

Toilets, floors in with the cleaner (yes i know u shouldn't mix but have for 30 yrs)
If im having a mega blitz i squirt it round the whole bathroom foam it up. Rinse.

Windowsills

I have a bleach problem!! I buy 3 bottles a week.

OutsidInInsideOut · 06/07/2023 21:36

Oh And bins.

Dymaxion · 06/07/2023 21:39

Toilets only, my main go to cleaning product is washing up liquid, neat or diluted, its good stuff.

IsItHalfTermYetHelp · 06/07/2023 21:40

Have solid plastic bins in each bedroom so if someone is going to vom they can just pull the bin bag out and go for it. These are bleached when puked in. Otherwise don’t use bleach.

OwlRightThen · 06/07/2023 21:43

No where really unless someone is ill. I have a bottle buried at the back of the kitchen cupboard somewhere

Theoldwoman · 06/07/2023 21:48

Toilet
Shower
Drains
Sinks
Deep clean of kitchen

WellPlaced · 06/07/2023 21:54

I soak my dishcloth and in bleach overnight.

I use it diluted to wash down surfaces.

Fizbosshoes · 06/07/2023 22:00

Mainly the loo, but also (but less frequently, or only a few drops) shower grout, dishcloths, bins, food bin.
