Bleach - Where do you actually use bleach clean around the house?

Exactly that really. Where do you actually use bleach to clean around the house?

I see on my bleach bottle instructions it suggests bleach can be used to clean toilets, kitchen/bathroom drains, sinks, floors, and work surfaces.

Does anyone actually use bleach for those other bits around the house, or do you mainly just use bleach for the toilet?

Toilet
Kitchen sink
Dishcloths
White washing
Bathroom floor (council wetroom type)
Kitchen floor

Vitriolinsanity · 07/07/2023 00:28

Everywhere. My house smells like a pool.

justasking111 · 07/07/2023 00:31

I use Milton's for the fridge

I never use bleach, and am shocked at how many of you do! Have you seen the horrible signs on the bottle? It is not nice stuff.
I’ve never used it, nor has my mum and we are all still alive and well.
pp. I leave white vinegar in the loo overnight. It removes any stains.
I scrub the loo with a squirt of dish soap or crap bubble bath. Bleaching under the toilet rim is a nonsense made up by advertisers in the 50s. Who is going to get involved with under the toilet rim, really, when you think about it, why does it need to be germ free?
ditto kitchen surfaces. I chop food on a cutting board that gores in the dishwasher. Why would I need to bleach the surfaces?
aanndd apparently bleach in the washing machine rots the rubber seals and pipes over time. White vinegar works wonders.

Yeah bleach is nasty stuff admittedly but everyone goes back to it when the sick bug calls.

As for toilets, yeah it is an odd impulse why most of us feel compelled to kill germs under the toilet rim. On one hand yeah I can certainly appreciate toilet germs are unlikely to harm anyone but on the other hand I do quite like that germ kill when I've done the clean. It's like five minutes ago there were probably a few billion germs down my loo and I have now killed them all. I quite like that sometimes.

toilets, sinks, kitchen sink, washing machine clean, bleach white school shirts, clean things, I use it loads of places.

bonfirebash · 07/07/2023 00:39

Sink very occasionally. Mugs and stained teaspoons I scrub or use the astonish mug cleaner that works really well
Prefer to use hot soapy water, star drops or pink stuff is good

AndTheSurveySays · 07/07/2023 01:07

Why bleach teaspoons? Just pop them into the dishwasher!

Not everyone has a dishwasher.

Bleach removes tea and other stains in about 30 seconds. I'm lazy and don't want to scrub nor wait an age for white vinegar to work.

I use denture tablets it's safer I think

Oakbeam · 07/07/2023 08:51

Milton and denture tablets are weak bleach.

Snailsaresweet · 07/07/2023 08:55

Toilet and (very occasionally) kitchen sink. Oh, and the food waste bin when there's been a maggot infestation (yuk). It was either that or burn the bin...

crazeekat · 07/07/2023 09:19

on everything i can. love it

SmellyNelliey · 07/07/2023 09:26

For you that don't use bleach what do you use?
Every woman in my family clean the same and use bleach just like I do.

yogasaurus · 07/07/2023 09:27

Toilet, sink, plug holes, shower occasionally to remove black marks, the green bin

usedtobeasizeten · 07/07/2023 09:31

Down the toilet, cleaning wash cloths, washing out my food caddy, thin bleach in hot water for my tiled floor….

MintyIguana · 07/07/2023 09:33

For stained mugs I just use a magic eraser. Don't like the idea of bleach in my mugs.

Washing surfaces with hot, soapy water removes dirt and germs, so this is what I do for most things. I have an antibacterial spray I use on my kitchen worktop when I have been preparing raw meat, but otherwise washing up liquid and hot water are all you need.

WhisperingAutistic · 07/07/2023 09:34

Kitchen sink and toilets

User10486743 · 07/07/2023 09:35

Mainly the toilet or mould removal, I don't generally clean with it

User10486743 · 07/07/2023 09:36

For the outside bins I use Jeyes fluid

SoftSheen · 07/07/2023 09:37

The loos, very occasionally down the kitchen sink if it is starting to smell unfresh.

Hedjwitch · 07/07/2023 09:38

Teaspoons with tea stains can still be used for you know, tea!

Scrub them when you wash them if it bothers you and you dont have a dishwasher. As long as they've been washed I just use them. Tea stains arent going to kill me. Bleach might.

User10486743 · 07/07/2023 09:39

One of the main reasons I don't use bleach is because if it splashes anywhere it ruins things

User10486743 · 07/07/2023 09:41

Vinegar and bicarbonate works better for smelly plug holes

AppleCinnamonBagel · 07/07/2023 09:47

Dilute bleach for dish cloths and floor cloths.
Bleach wipes for the toilets and that's it.

dottiedodah · 07/07/2023 10:00

Usually just loo and kitchen sink.On here a while ago, was chastised for using too much bleach as not good for the Enviroment. Toned it down a little now !
