Thread 27 - Sunak : the Ship is Sinking, Hold Your Nerve!

DuncinToffee · 26/06/2023 14:10

In the voice of Cpl Jones.

"Don't panic Capt Sunak"

"Hold your nerve"

"They don't like it up em".

We have a choice between extremely bad alternative outcomes

Well it’s really bloody unusual. Has she sat on the wrong benches by mistake?

Notonthestairs · 10/07/2023 20:47

Farris was supposed to be on the Committee but recused herself. Then suggested there should be a vote as to whether the Committee should continue its work after Johnson resigned - rather overlooking the lying to Parliament problem.

Anyway I applaud her comments.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer tonight told ministers running big departments like health and education that if they want to give recommended pay rises to nurses, teachers and other public sector workers they'll have to make cuts elsewhere.

www.itv.com/news/2023-07-10/chancellor-says-schools-and-hospitals-must-make-savings-to-fund-pay-rises

So where are these cuts going to come from??

DuncinToffee · 10/07/2023 21:36

Clueless, the hunt.

I want to grab him by his stupid Tory ears and shake him and tell him that
There

Cut

You win the thread @pointythings. Can I have a go when you’ve finished?

You and I can set up a stall and sell tickets. Free enterprise and all that, he should approve (once he gets over being puking dizzy).

If only we could make enough money to fund the pay rises.

L1ttledrummergirl · 10/07/2023 23:26

I think you would!

What happens now regarding the report, is there any action taken by parliament on those MPs for their actions?

Nice suits. Other than that I'm stumped.

And even those are not quite long enough in the leg.

itsgettingweird · 11/07/2023 04:29

They just don't get it re nhs and education etc do they?

People are leaving the profession because they've run it into the ground re funding and lack of pay rises.

Cutting it more but paying more won't be the solution.

Not paying more isn't going to work either.

They need to find the money like they do when it's a mates business.

Angry
L1ttledrummergirl · 11/07/2023 07:36

At least it was met with the derision it deserves.

I note his choice of words, 'It is the correct decision these facilities have the requisite decoration befitting their purpose'

It's a children's detention centre, and had children's decorations. Why fucking change it to unsuitable decoration then?

Notonthestairs · 11/07/2023 07:55

It is despicable.
Braverman must be livid - it's pretty obvious Jenrick wants her job in the Autumn reshuffle.
Patel is busy tweeting that the compromises over Rwanda are a disgrace. Half her followers describe Sunak as a lefty. One wants to turn the Isle of Wight in to Ellis Island.

A party riddled with division and self loathing.

Notonthestairs · 11/07/2023 08:15

"Today the Commons will be asked to approve the summer, conference and Christmas recess dates.

Summer: rise on 20 July until 4 September

Conference: rise on 19 September until 16 October

Christmas: rise on 19 December until 8 January 2024."

Conference season is a bit ridiculous isn't it? I mean nearly a month away two weeks after they've got back.
When I am PM they can each have a weekend in August to get it done.

I don’t think that will be an issue. You’ll make plenty. Set up some sticks somewhere too. That should do it.

Nothing will happen to them

Mordaunt said she hopes yesterday’s vote will be “the end of this sorry affair” and “colleagues who are named [in the report] will reflect on their actions”.

Confused

Christ, has Sunak got a view on anything? Macavity is spot on.

One to add to the list, the BBC presenter

Yes. And that’s bloody rich given the number of his MPs currently under investigation for alleged sexual crimes.

Notonthestairs · 11/07/2023 12:24

Lord Murray - the Lord that responded to Lord Dubs question about the mural -

"Also worth explaining Lord Murray's career path:

  • Tory councillor; 2019-8 Oct 2022
  • Co-authors Policy Exchange paper attacking ECHR; 2021
  • Liz Truss cites paper in speech to Policy Exchange; Aug 2022
  • Murray made life peer by Truss 9 Oct 2022
  • Truss resigns 20 Oct 2022 ~AA"

Basically a Truss Tufton Street stooge. We are riddled with them.

Bit of information about murky old fossil fuel sponsored Policy Exchange here -

Caroline Lucus - "Once again this has become an opportunity for many on the right to have a go at the BBC... like 30p Lee Anderson saying the BBC is a safe haven for perverts.. this is such a distraction from some very big issues we ought to be discussing."
