i think Elton did so well because when the notes were too high, ie in Daniel, he just sung it differently!

loved his percussionist at the back, playing the tamborine!

He did so well because he has an amazing talent. A few notes in a different key didn't make his performance good. His absolute incredible ability to perform did that.

Willmafrockfit · 26/06/2023 06:48

yes @chemistnightmare
there were no Bum notes
he knew his limitations.

MelonsOnSaleAgain · 26/06/2023 06:55

He’s often adjusted his live songs. If his vice is tired, age, etc. I reckon he can do it on the fly tbh, although this felt like well planned perfection.

He sang with Kiki last year sometime and she was awful.

Oh! That's a shame. Not sure who I would have preferred as an alternative

Did you watch the same show as the rest of us?

Limitations? He was not at all limited. He changed a couple of notes to suit his 76 year old voice but his performance wasn't at all limited by it.

Willmafrockfit · 26/06/2023 08:18

no @chemistnightmare
that is what i am saying!

Willmafrockfit · 26/06/2023 08:20

@chemistnightmare not sure why you are arguing with me? there is really no need

Arguing? I was under the impression this was a discussion thread.

You said Elton did so well because he changed some notes. He didn't. He did so well because if his absolute talent. His lower key in Daniel made no difference to him being good.

I would understand your point if he was a mediocre singer trying to scrape through, but that wasn't what we saw last night.

Im sorry you have trouble with discussion, but I was certainly not arguing with you, it's just a different opinion and what I, and several thousand others saw, doesn't match with your opinion.

@JaneJeffer The BBC has nicked your thread title!
Near enough anyway... 😂

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/06/2023 10:01

Just been reading the rumours for headliners next year, it seems Taylor Swift is pretty much a done deal.

Harry styles, the 1975, Coldplay, Eminem and Red Hot Chilli Peppers are also rumoured, along with Rihanna and Madonna..

Who does everyone want to see headline next year??

I'd rather have Pink than TS. I wouldn't mind Dua Lipa, I reckon she'd put on a good show, ditto Harry Styles. I'd love to see the Manics headline again but that time is gone. Maybe the Other stage they wouldn't turn up 30 mins late because of their hair

Other than that I'm not fussed about the headliners, sometimes the real gems are elsewhere.

Ohmylovejune · 26/06/2023 12:27

I'd love to watch Deacon Blue, Maurice Gibb, Paul Heaton and Kid Creole and the Coconuts.

I'm going to see if I can rewatch The Cure at Glastonbury again. That was a fab set.

BestIsWest · 26/06/2023 13:20

I’d like Annie Lennox, Kate Bush, Siouxsie Sioux. In the Legends slot, Carole King with James Taylor. In my fantasy Glastonbury.

Agreed the Manics were fab and I’ve just watched Texas again. That was a great set on Friday.

Oh yes definitely, especially if I was stuck behind them! Likewise if a flag were blocking my view I'd want to shove it somewhere!

One of the many reasons I'd never go to a festival 😉
