Thought he'd be rubbish. Wasn't going to watch it.

Watched it all and it was great fun.

Brandon Flowers morphing into Jim Carrey was a bit of a shock. And I would have loved Kiki Dee.

He sang with Kiki last year sometime and she was awful.

CoolShoeshine · 25/06/2023 23:30

Near perfect tonight Elton - just needed Kiki Dee, and George Michael on screen singing one chorus. Oh and Blue Eyes, and a lion king medley. But other than that - sublime and we’ll never see the likes again.🐐

SequinsandStilettos · 25/06/2023 23:31

So I am now watching Rick Astley and Blossoms do their Smiths covers on iplayer under Guitars and by God, it is joyous Grin
Had you told me Thursday that Elton and Rick Astley would be my favourites this weekend I'd have laughed but they were and I am in awe.

Anybody else feeling a bit gutted it is all over?!

Most definitely. I started watching it whilst working, Fri PM, and have pretty much watched it solidly all weekend. And followed the fab threads.
I’m very gutted it’s over!

LadyVF · 25/06/2023 23:32

By Friday PM I mean early afternoon!

friendlycat · 25/06/2023 23:33

Consummate professional. Amazing set. Still has a good voice. Absolutely smashed it. Fabulous backing and band. Thought it was fantastic.

Actually felt a bit emotional watching.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 25/06/2023 23:13

Ah, that was great. I never expected to like it so much. You forget how many great songs he did. We can forgive him going a bit pub singer at times, I think. Bet his kids are so proud!

I really surprised myself by enjoying that so much! And also feeling quite emotional 🥺 His voice was fantastic - and he just seemed so happy too. Elton was the epitome of uncool in my punky young days - yet somehow I knew all the words 😂. Loved it!

GraysPapaya · 25/06/2023 23:34

So Elton was amazing. Blown away, I started crying at one point. But some people are saying Will we ever have these amazing acts again? Well I think yes; snow patrol, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Harry styles, Adele, Beyoncé, the killers all have potential to become icons… let’s see… let’s not forget Elton was some average looking bloke called dwight to begin with.

Allmyghosts · 25/06/2023 23:36

I mean radio head have been going for a long time, the last set they did at gasto was amazing, can see them having many more (if they want to ofc)

Allmyghosts · 25/06/2023 23:39

I only started liking Elton John after watching breaking the waves (bit obscure)

3kidsaremorethanenough · 25/06/2023 23:41

Can't wait to see this.

GnRs were awful, it was just noise. Axel voice was shit, only saving grace was Slash and Duff. So I can't wait to see Elton. On my way home from seeing Sam Fender, who was amazing could give The Artic Monkeys lessons on crowd interaction- what an absolute sweet heart. I've no voice left from the sing alongs.

ThisWomansWorkNeverEnds · 25/06/2023 23:42

I've always loved Elton John since I was a child in the 70s and early 80s. He was brilliant, so glad he got the love for his last concert.

Meltinthemiddle · 25/06/2023 23:45

Not really an Elton fan, but appreciate his music. Typically after seeing him play tonight I wish I took the opportunity to see him when he did a show in my town 😭

massiveclamps · 25/06/2023 23:52

There are some television moments that go down in history. 🙂

Crikeyalmighty · 25/06/2023 23:53

And managed to be 'on time' too. !! Divas - watch and learn

HRTQueen · 25/06/2023 23:55

He knows what the crowd wants to hear

was great way to finish his live shows here

I thought Cate B might come on stage and dance again 😬😬 as it was meant to be a Hollywood start

thought he would have bigger names for his show maybe he didn’t want to share the limelight and why why should he on this night

chemistnightmare · 25/06/2023 23:58

It's more a case of he didn't need to. He wanted to showcase some new upcoming artists. That was such a gift for them.

JaneJeffer · 26/06/2023 00:06

Ooh they're showing a bit of Lil Nas X now

QOTSA bloody smashed it, as i expected.. wait for no one knows Allmyghosts !!

I've only caught a bit so far but loving it. Will watch properly tomorrow. We saw them at V festival in 2003 and Mark Lanegan played then too rip

LittleBrownJug · 26/06/2023 00:53

Moraxella · 25/06/2023 23:04

Was hoping for step into Christmas 😭

I feel you 🎄

Allmyghosts · 26/06/2023 02:53

Does anyone know how to watch the sparks set? I can't find it on I player.

Allmyghosts · 26/06/2023 02:55

Nevermind, found it. The native streaming sites in the UK are frigging awful.

Willmafrockfit · 26/06/2023 05:03

i enjoyed this very much
do you think they kept panning to Paul McCartney as a supposed guest singer?

elton did so well
