Just before it became necessary to blow the bridges at the Oka River, how fortunate.

I'm not a FlightRadar person. Does that happen ever? What's the significance?

Not much tbh. Just means they turned the transponder off, standard for military and not unusual for diplomatic purposes

MagicFox · 24/06/2023 18:33

Prighozin (via @wartranslated)

""They were going to dismantle PMC Wagner. We came out on 23 June to the March of Justice. In a day, we walked to nearly 200km away from Moscow. In this time, we did not spill a single drop of blood of our fighters. Now, the moment has come when blood may spill. That’s why, understanding the responsibility for spilling Russian blood on one of the sides, we are turning back our convoys and going back to field camps according to the plan."

Andrzej Kozlowski: "This essentially means that Putin agreed to talks with Prigozhin. Prigozhin, of course, never rebelled against the Tsar, only against the bad boyars. (Just like every single coup attempt in Japan from the March Incident in 1931 to February 26 Incident 1936, was intended to"

Seems we were right at the beginning of all this....

Ex transponder operator/knob twiddler here...see previous comments about Flightradar coverage having gaps.

FWIW in most airspace it's actually illegal/against the rules of the air for civil traffic to turn transponders off (amongst other things ATC lose their radar contact), now whether that bothers Putin or not ??

Changechangechanging · 24/06/2023 18:37

wow...what is going on?

Alighttouchonthetiller · 24/06/2023 18:38

Well, I have spent all day following this and now don't know what the hell is going on.

Is this going to turn out to have been a Putin and Prigozhin production to get rid of the top brass?

I'm opening the wine.

Tuba437 · 24/06/2023 18:39

Could all this be an elaborate attempt to end the war in Ukraine and make it look like they have bigger issues they need to deal with at home? Clutching straws I know

cakeorwine · 24/06/2023 18:39

So what will Putin do now?

After talks of treason

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 24/06/2023 18:40

The claims now are that Wagner is going to go back to its camps, now Putin's promised not to make it answer to the Russian MoD like they were supposed to.

IF all this is true, Putin comes out much, much weaker. He signed a decree saying mercenary companies had to sign on with the Russian MoD. Now Wagner doesn't.

Wagner is clearly far superior to the Russian army and absolutely everyone knows it know.

All Prigozhin has to do next time he wants something is to threaten to march on Moscow again.

Favouritefruits · 24/06/2023 18:40

So, money does talk….. he’s obviously been paid a HUGE amount!

theDudesmummy · 24/06/2023 18:40

So Lukashenko comes out looking like the good guy? (he isn't a good guy). Where does that leave Putin? Weakened and with flanks exposed to challengers/CIA/disgruntled oligarchs maybe?

Natsku · 24/06/2023 18:42

I am so confused, is Wagner going back to the front now?

theDudesmummy · 24/06/2023 18:43

Prigo says they are falling back to "field camps". Not sure where those would be, Ukraine or Rostov?

WhisperingAutistic · 24/06/2023 18:43

How can he shoot down Russian aircraft and then just walk away?
I'm so confused

Woodywoodpeckerharrison · 24/06/2023 18:45

@Favouritefruits I think you've called it. Paid off! Now run and hide!!

YouTarzan · 24/06/2023 18:45

This is crazy!

WhisperingAutistic · 24/06/2023 18:45

So does this mean they are totally stepping back? I really don't understand

WhisperingAutistic · 24/06/2023 18:48

Very interesting

Ukraine Invasion: Part 42
ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 24/06/2023 18:49

@WhisperingAutistic we don't know yet, but that's what he's said he's going to do. He's not very trustworthy so let's see what actually happens.

Mb76 · 24/06/2023 18:50

None of them are remotely trustworthy that’s why it’s so hard to know what will happen

Surplus2requirements · 24/06/2023 18:51

@notimagain yes thank you, I was playing catch up after nipping out for half an hour.

Extraordinary updates, I can't see the last 24hrs being forgiven, it makes no sense...not even twisted reality sense

DrBlackbird · 24/06/2023 18:52

So unfortunately not so much of a breather for Ukraine and now the competent Wagner force is not forced to take orders from the incompetent Russian MoD.

I’d say Prigozhin’s card is marked causing the rats to flee out of Moscow like that, but he’s not going to go easily onto a hotel balcony nor will he be easy to poison.

CheshireCat1 · 24/06/2023 18:54

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 24/06/2023 18:28

Can you say a bit more? :)

If this is orchestrated, what would the purpose be, and by whom? what woudl the goals be? (genuine questions, sometimes type can come over a bit abrupt, not my intention).

This all could have all been staged, I don’t know to what end, I do know that they used maskirovka when invading Crimea and numerous other situations Everything they are saying and everything they’re showing may not be what it seems, it’s how they work.
